@Russell: I think the general consensus for the check point is Wall Market, but it is worth checking on.

Before we do start though shouldn't we make the checkpoint official and also roughly the deadline for each checkpoint. I know that you could get to Wall Market in a couple of hours if you really wanted to, but I like to level my characters up a bit before hand and stuff and I know everyone has their RL stuff too so....

Personally I think it makes sense to have a deadline and after we hit that one we move on from the discussion and gameplay to the next part, just so everyone is roughly on the same wavelength, but that's just my opinion.

In terms of stats, not using Cloud would be like the two people that didn't use KOS-MOS in Xenosaga. From a game standpoint, there's not a single reason you shouldn't be using them

You can beat XS without KOS-MOS too. My point was both characters are, stat-wise, the best characters in their respective games so there's no game-based reason not to use them. You just don't like Cloud.

I don't see how you can possibly hate Cloud (assuming you liked the game). Maybe it's cause it's largely an FFVII forum and community we got here, and people are tired of him, or used to him, or he's overexposed, but FFVII Cloud was an awesome character imo. Play and story-wise.

FFS, some of you like Vanille.

The game could be beaten fine without Cloud, but storyline wise I doubt they'll cope without him. I don't think that they would of escaped from the Shrina Bldg, or even gotten to save Aeris. Barret's planning and leadership skills weren't the best. xD Plus Cloud is meant to be a misfit who lies about his personality, so making him a super machine wouldn't really make sense. If you notice in the Shrina Bldg, the 3rd class Solider members are ten times stronger than Cloud in battle, for a reason.

Vanille is okay, I feel like I should like her, because she seems similar to the outgoing, silly type that I love, like Selphie and Yuffie. But something seems missing... xD

But to be fair, she didn't talk to Cloud to sell him flowers; she just wanted to know what's going on. It's only when you mention the flowers that she'll tell you you can buy them.
