Dissidia English Clips & Translation Discussion

All the reviews say the same thing, let me summarize them all for you guys.

"Dissidia is a pretty cool game with a unique combat system, great graphics and tons of extras. However, the story mode gameplay is a bit repetitive, and the storyline isn't the best. The game is pure fanservice, but it still very good."

That's about all the reviews I've seen so far.

Storyline's not so repetitive now, since you don't even need to beat every Destiny Odyssey to beat the game now and unlock Duel Colosseum. That takes a good 60 percent of the grind from the game right there.

You downloaded the game, it works for you?

Naw, because I got the latest firmware update for my PSP, I can't get any custom firmware since it doesn't exist for it yet. I can't downgrade it because I don't have a second PSP battery to use for that purpose.

So yeah, I'm just stuck waiting Tuesday like the rest of everyone! :monster:

@hitoshura

You didn't hear? You don't have to play through every DO now in order to unlock Shade Impulse. All you have to do is beat one, and then you can move on to Shade Impulse with the character you beat the DO with. Beating each DO unlocks more characters to play through SI, but you only need to do one to unlock Duel Coliseum.

The Coliseum thing seems fine, but I would think seeing all the DO cutscenes before unlocking SI would make more sense, really :monster:

Well I guess for those like me who want to farm out the best equipment as soon as possible, would benefit from a faster unlocking of Duel Coliseum. And since I pretty much know what happens, it still makes sense :awesome:

Agreed. I've subtitled all 10 DO stories on YouTube. Their plotlines hold no surprises for me, though of course I'll still play through them.

I'm a completionist, I have to do everything in a game. There are only twp games I haven't fully mastered; FF12, because I'm not spending tens hours fighting Yiazmat, and I'm not spending hundreds of hours tracking down rare game for rare loot drops. The other game is KH, not because I won't spend hours collecting junks but because there's no skip scene button and I'm not gonna sit through the cut scenes a dozen times. Same reason I'm holding off replaying FFX.

LOL not being able to skip cutscenes is sooooo 1999. I hate that shit.

I haven't replayed KH for that very reason for years. Shit gets old. Although, FFX I'd forgive because its FFX :awesome:

FFXII I can sympathize with. While its one of my favorite FF's, that game is just a monster in terms of its side quests. I don't know when I'll go back and start trying to get every rare game and shit. That's almost tedious. Almost. I do like seeing the added bestiary info boxes and seeing what they look like. :monster:

The other problem with FF12 is Zodiark. Darkja can instantly wipe out your entire party, and there's absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. Like, WTF? That's just cheap. In every other game I can remember, Instant Death attacks either can't hit the entire party, or there's some sort of item or equipment piece that stops ID. Not in FF12, Darkja, you're fucked. It's so damn cheap, I just said "fuck it" after the fifth time and skipped Zodiark. And I never looked back.

FF12's loot system is too complex. To get a weapon at the Bazaar, you need to sell them so much of a certain loot, and to get those loot you have to sell the Bazaar other loot. Of course, where you find Loot and how much you need to sell of each Loot to unlock Bazaar goods is never told. Internet guides should be an option, not a requirement, and in this case they're a requirement because without one you'll never unlock the Bazaar's best stuff.

Equip Black Masks, and only send one person into the fight at the beginning. Once he does his initial Darkja, bring in everyone else. Darkja's not that big of a problem because it's extremely rare for it to actually kill all three people at once. He's really not that hard if you just don't bum rush him at once and expect not to take serious damage.

And yeah, the bizarre is a bit daunting when trying to synthesize rare goods, but I always play with guides so I never had a problem :monster:

I think most fans do by now, since most of the mechanics are pretty hard to figure out intuitively without some form of strategy or help from the outside.

Just watch the first few seconds for Kefka's intro. After that the player spams Blizzara for the entire fight and it'll give you a headache fast.

God damn I love Jecht's english VA. And what's with Zidane's voice???

Edit: why does Kefka sound like... just how I expected he'd sound? Like Mark hamill slightly??? O____O

I still think that both Zidane AND Kuja sound like shit. I did like the way he said "I will return to where I must" though. Kuja just... I expected him to sound a lot better than that. He sounds like a normal person. The voice is totally unfitting. Zidane sounds like a whiny little twit.

Firi has Nero's voice though, so he wins. :awesome:

Also, love his FABULOUS belt.

YES, HE SAYS IT! THANK YOU GOD!!! Kefka, I bow to your awesome epicness and total win. You are the one true God of the series!

Seriously, they're nailing so many of Kefka's iconic and classic lines. The totally badass job they've done with his lines and voice make me forgive all else, because Kefka is perfect!

EDIT

Clerra sense is tingling. Oh wait, that's not the Clerra sense...

EDIT X 3

The epic Kefka keeps on coming...

I've been waiting to hear Kefka's English voice, and I approve.

Overall, they did a good job with characterization and incorporating the original game plot/feeling in this.

Kefka would know a lot about powers taking over, and destroying minds, wouldn't he?

I've been looking at what I have to work with, and I think I can do it.

Imagine that above scene with Heath Ledger's Joker dialogue dubbed over Kefka's. :p

Heath Ledger would fit perfectly as Kefka voice over. I mean he did a awesome job acting as the joker.

God, Kefka is great! I laughed my ass of when he mocked Terra's "You're lying!".
Me too. I love how animated he is.

Seeing those cutscenes just makes me want a remake of FF6. I think it would be so awesome. I'm so glad they did Terra & Kefka right.
