OK, I loved this episode for the most part. Excited finding out the actress who played Oswin (who was made of win) will be playing the new companion.
I'll just say that I was hoping for something new from the title - what would a Dalek class as insane? Maybe we're going to meet some well-adjusted Daleks!
Of course, I knew it wasn't to be.
My favourite bit of the whole episode - the Dalek Prime Minister, speaking of the beauty of "divine hatred", only to snidely remark that may be the reason they never killed the Doctor.
But the bit that rudely undermined the rest of the episode? Hey, the Daleks don't remember the Doctor any more! This seems to be taken as the Daleks -- a genocidal species that wants every non-Dalek lifeform in the universe to die a horrible death -- will now settle down somewhat. Cos, you know, there isn't the Predator in the back of their minds.
Uhhhh... no.
For a starters, unless Oswin's work was truly thorough, they'll still remember the Time War. And they'll recognise the sound of a TARDIS (as lovely as the idea the Doctor forgets to take the brakes off is, the majority of TARDIS craft make that noise). And it might be in the back of their minds that the Time Lords sent an assassin to off them before they were created (
Genesis of the Daleks).
Also, the Daleks have computer systems. After the TARDIS leaves, they search their records for mentions of a "Doctor". Unless the computer is linked to their Path Net, they find out about his previous interferences. Daleks are now more convinced that the Doctor is incredibly dangerous.
Even if their computers are compromised... well, the Daleks are just the sort of species to attack the next passing vessel to get intel.
And if they have forgotten all the Doctor has done until now, and are unable to find anything out about him... how annoyed will they be that a surviving Time Lord swanned into one of their craft, declared himself to be the Predator of the Daleks, taunted them, and left.
Of course, the biggest question is why the Daleks just didn't try to exterminate him on the spot, especially if they didn't recognise him.
