All the companions/LIs were revealed, so those aren't spoilers, if that's what you were referring to. :| Sandal and his dad are just shops like in the first game, and have nothing to do with the plot either.

Also, goddamnit Fenris would be such an awesome romance for FemHawke if he wasn't such a goddamn angry ham

I consider that canonical since I don't ever have to put up with his constant sibling sulking nonsense and also he is a terrible warrior compared to Aveline

Also the alternative to spoiler is bleh because I happen to like Bethany despite her physiologically dangerous flotation devices and ridiculously naive attitude to things sometimes

Fenris flits between calm and stoic to really angry, and the angry bits don't seem to suit him as well. There was a moment during the introduction dialogue and he gets angry about it and his angry frown is so stupid I just burst out laughing.

He goes "I PLAN TO DO, MUCH MORE, THAN TALK" and lowers his head to emphasise how his frowning eyebrows jut out from his face and i just go 'pffffffffffffaaahahahah'

But I'm sure it gets better. That's the one thing I'm not entirely sure has improved over Origins: even though voice acting for Hawke adds something immersive to the player character and the dialogue wheel does wonders for conversations, they don't feel as snappily written as Origins was. I don't think I've encountered anyone as amusing as Alistair in my party as of yet, and that might be saying something. Everyone in my group at the moment gets along fine and it's all ho-hum and everything.

Esp. since I jusr beat DAO for the first time on Tuesday and was like asdfghjkl when he showed up in Witch Hunt. I've tried to keep myself in the dark about anything character related. I'm not pissed, just asking politely, so there's no need to be like that, bro.

Okay I'll be honest I haven't actually gotten Isabella in my party yet

But judging from the demo I'm sure she'll be fun to have

The thing is that from the party I have now I can't imagine any of them would have a similarly paired dynamic that was between Alistair and Morrigan. and Alistair-Morrigan banter was one of the few reasons why I always had them in party




But oh god did I ever mention in a thread how much I hated Zevran, he's like the creepiest elf I've ever seen in a high fantasy setting
I make a habit of talking to nearly everyone during camp in Origins except sometimes I make the mistake of clicking on Zevran and he goes "I am yours" in the most revolting voice ever and I'm like "ugh this is exactly why I don't talk to you"

I always kept Alistair and Morrigan around because I needed a tank and a mage, and I hated Wynne with a passion. The hilarity didn't hurt, either.

And tbh, I thought that Zevran was OKAY, so long as he stopped trying to molest me. But at the same time, he seemed like a comedic relief character who actually TRIES to be a comedic relief character...and that never works out very well imo =/

tldr: Zevran should stop trying to be funny, even though he does succeed sometimes. Also Morrigan rools and Alistair drools

Zevran always amused me for the fact that he'd chime in during quests and troll the shit out of people. If you ever take him when you want to meet with Harrowmont you'll know what I mean.

Sure he was over the top, but he at least seemed to have some self awareness at his cheesiness, and he was one of the few companions that it wasn't an utter chore to talk to. I really do not find Alistair funny like... ever. Morrigan's brand of humor is better than his.

Zevran,Oghren and Morrigan are better for comedy. Especially with straight laced folks like Leilianna and Wynne.

I rolled a Weapon + Shield warrior for my import playthrough thinking it'd help take the pressure of Alistair, and he STILL died. In fact, his dex was high than mine so he got the Shield tactics faster than my character, plus I bumped his constitution whenever I could, and this idiot still. Died. aksfajfasfas i just don't get it, i think his AI is rigged for failure

I just decided to tank myself and had a part of Zevran, Morrigan, and Wynne. Party almost never wiped.

So it is the DA2 release date today for us over here. My rental service have been sitting on the rental I sent back for a day now without sending me something new. Then all of a sudden 'BOOM!' they dispatch DA2. Good job guys.
Usually with this rental service you have to wait atleast a month or two after a popular release to get a hold of it. Must say I am impressed.

I played the demo as a Rogue and a Mage. My DA1 character was a mage and I liked that but I did prefer playing the Rogue. Then again I figured I'd probably end up choosing Warrior. =/

I find getting her as many heal spells as possible is really useful seeing as the game thinks it's funny to limit how useful those are >:

So yeah: rule of thumb, if there's some way for a character to regenerate health, PUT SOME POINTS INTO IT.

Loving it so far.

Big improvements I noticed right away: the party is small, I don’t have 10 people following me around, or have to look after all there shit. No more checking all your companions equipment every quest to check they’re got the best stuff, you just look after their weapons & upgrade there armour. And I like that I’m not on a world saving quest, I’m just trying to raise some money for my family.

(Anyone else notice that Merril is voiced by Gwen from Torchwood? )

Also: I asked the barkeep in the hangman about news, he said the pigeon population in Ferelden had plummeted recently, I lol’d.

Ok so decided to do this game as the warrior class for a change (usually I only used dual wielinding or mage classes) really like the combat now. Far improved from the previous game the combat actually flows well and doesnt seem like a snore fest when you decide to use a sword. Impressed beyong belief at the weaponry you can start off with from DLC/previous saved games the moment your in kirkwall.

I have just completed the first main plot quest but im level 8 already and have Ser Isaac's armour on XD, rather funny watching Hawke run around in it tbh. Already got two new party members, the dalish elf Merrill that I think is meant to be from the Dalish elf background in DA1 and the tevinter elf Fenris with the Lyrium burned into his skin. Can't belive you can go head to head against a dragon from level 3 onwards!

Only bit I do not like is the constant +5 rivalry you seem to get from Aveline even though you aren't doing anything wrong.
So far I've developed a good combat team of using Merrill with her specialised tree almost maxed, Fenris with his own specialised tree pretty full, Bethany with a mix of healing/elemental tree maxed out. If anything moves it lasts around 5 seconds once half the magic has been cast and Fenris and Hawke get in close.

All in all I can see where alot of people are complaining but for the whole I thought the game was superbly done and very nicely tied in with Origins.

I just beat a dragon by kiting it.

Seriously manual kiting is a very very viable option in the gameplay

All you have to do is move your character a tiny bit away from the melee enemy while he swings at you and he doesn't do diddlysquat to you
(As opposed to Origins where hit-or-miss was determined by invisible magic figures independent on your position relative to the enemy)

^nope, it didn't work like that. No matter how far you ran, attacks that didn't miss would always hit you. Ex: when a golem does that "rear back and throw a single massive punch at you that always crits and staggers you" attack, you can run as far as you like, but it will still hit you >;
