English voice acting

Who do you think would make a good actor for your favorite characters? Until the english version comes out, shall we discuss this matter? I'm seriously hoping Mark Hamill does Kefka and Clancy Brown as Golbez, they make good actors to these characters.

Well, firstly, I want everyone that has a voice to be reprised. Cloud, Sephioth, Tidus, Jecht, Squall. (Onion Knight, Cecil, and Golbez have voices too I guess but I haven't heard them)

Kefka is the one I'm most unsure about it. His vioce in japanese is SO annoying but I realize that's kinda the point, so I dunno. My favorite voice-acted crazy-villain is Crispin Freeman's Albedo from Xenosaga (his most impressive role, imo). But while Albedo's crazy, he's different from Kefka, so I don't think I would like that either.

I also wouldn't mind if Terra sounded a little less weak in the english version. I don't really know the VA community enough to suggest names though...

I feel only Mark Hamill can pull Kefka in a non-annoying gay way. And Golbez needs a beef up on voice. I recommend Clancy Brown because he can DO IT!

Jecht should stay the same I'll give ya that.

Crispin Freeman did the exact same voice as Albedo as he did for Alan Gabriel in Big O. Litterally, exactly the same. Theres a couple other times he did the same voice as well. His voice doesn't ever change much though.

Mark Hamill's the only guy I can see doing Kefka.

They should acknowledge this. As for Terra, I probably will settle for that girl Setphanie Sheh or whoever she is.

I've never really liked the english voice overs for the FF7 characters (thanks to AC) and I can't bear to listen to George Newbern as seph but I know they'll stick with them. As for the rest of the characters, I don't really care (I liked the guys that voiced tidus and jecht tbh) if they are annoying I'll turn down the sound.

I don't think Cloud is even that hard to cast, yet for some reason they pulled a 40 year-old from 'General Hospital' to voice him. :-\

Yuri Lowenthal, Johnny Bosch, David Gallagher. All of them would be better Clouds, for sure.

I could see Lowenthal...I dunno about the others. Frankly I'd be a little annoyed if it were Bosch. Yeah he's good but he's EVERYWHERE. I think Burton does a pretty good job and at least Cloud has a unique voice on the video game (and anime) front.

Very awesome indeed. In the third game, he he wasnt as good, but the first two, he was amazing in.

I think most people put down dub actors way too much just because they think it a disservice to the original japanese, which is utter crap. Ive heard people rag on so many dub's that were more than adequate.

Steve Burton does a good job (though he knows nothing of Final Fantasy) as Cloud. Actually most of them do a good job (besides Mina Suvari as Aerith.)

I can't really think of anyone else to do Kefka's voice, but at the same time I'd rather not have Mark Hamill do it for fear of doing a Joker-clone voice. I mean, that's iconic and should probably be reserved.

Other than that, I really don't mind having previous voice actors come to reprise their roles. It can actually get annoying when VAs change, imo.

Just because I love Kirby Morrow, I'd like him involved (maybe as Firion?) but... that's just my blind love of him speaking

Agreed, besides, while Kefka's looks often get him compared with the Joker (though that wouldn't have been a huge problem were it not for teh movie), he doesn't ACT like the Joker so I would prefer he didn't sound like him.

On the other hand, Mark Hamill does awesome voices that aren't the Joker too. He could be well used if directed correctly.

I call bullshit, he looks very little like the Joker from the film, and way too much like the one in the comics now, mostly because they deformed his face so much.

I call bullshit on anyone who says he looks like the Joker because of the films.

yeah. I like the simple make up amano did and not the Ledger look given to him by Nomura. But ahh well, gotta enjoy my greens!

I don't see it, Ledger's makeup was sloppy and shitty, with those black circles on his eyes. Kefka's looks more like a second skin, with more garish colors.
