So, I FINALLY got around ta watching Evangelion 1.11 & 2.22.
1.11 was excellent, and then about halfway through 2.22 when things started to change with Asuka testing Unit 03, my mind just exploded all over the place. I... I cannot wait until there's some hint about when 3.33 will be coming out.

IT WAS ABOUT DAMN TIME! 
I loved 1.11. More than 2.22 to be honest, although it had some great moments too. At first I wasn't fond of Mari, but I'm liking her a bit more now.
Still have to watch 3.0 though. Oh well. Not spoiling myself on this one! And I admit I had the chance to read stuff about it, but refused to do so!

I'm hoping that 3.33 will only be like... a 6-month wait instead of a whole damn year, 'cause I'd rather just watch the director's cut versions.
I, too have been MOSTLY keeping myself in the dark about everything, aside from the one "looks like this somehow STILL takes place within the continuity of the original Evangelion" post from a while back.
1.11 was just flat out a damn pretty, streamlined version of Evangelion, and I absolutely loved it for that. Sachiel was awesome, Shamshel was cool, but holy SHIT Ramiel was just SO fucking awesome, especially since it wasn't super interesting in the original series. I also dig how Eva Unit-01's neon green bits are glow in the dark. xD
2.22 things start out to let you know that there's some new stuff happening. I REALLY like how you've got a better sense that this is a global thing, and not JUST exclusive to Japan, especially in how Unit-04 and Unit-03 tie in to things. The new stuff with the 3rd Angel, Mari, and Unit-05 was interesting, and then as soon as Asuka went to be the test pilot for Unit-03, Shit just got IN.SANE. and got super exciting, because all of a sudden, everything is different and I had no idea what to expect.
Totally loved it.
...and may have just purchased an Eva Unit-04 figure online.

Also- just throwing this out there for any old school Kaiju fans: Misato's ringtone in 2.22 is King Ghidorah's roar from Godzilla! It looks like it's got some ties to Ultraman as well.
Additionally, the PS3 pachinko game actually had footage made for Eva Unit-04 - you know, the one that just detonates without ever being shown when it's testing out the S2 engine. It's kinda always been my favorite Evangelion, despite never actually showing up in the series, and basically being a palate-swapped version of Unit-03. Still, it's awesome to have ANY officially-created animation sequence with it, even if it is just a rehash of the battle against Ramiel (to give you an idea about how crazy powerful it would've been).

I watched it a couple of days and my opinion is the same as you.
I need a couple of rewatches to understand SOMETHING. This was all kinds of crazy packed together. True to the Evangelion spirit. Just... wow.

Considering how NOTHING from trailer for 3.0 made it to the actual movie, one can only wonder whether the trailer means anything at all but yes, that's the trailer.

Because it's Evangelion, and it's good as is (with End of Evangelion making up for the original WTF ending).
- and Rebuild of Evangelion is both a reboot AND a sequel (Human Instrumentality Project and all that, one of the last scenes in End of Evangelion is the opening scene in Rebuild). It's pretty much the only series that could do both at the same time, and it's been doing it BEAUTIFULLY.

I watched 3.33 a little while ago and liked it quite a bit. I'd been spoiled beforehand, which I kind of regret seeing as the movie is meant to be disorienting, but I'll definitely be avoiding spoilers for 4.0. My only issue with 3.33 is that
even though it's closer in tone to the original series it seemed kind of forced (especially with the timeskip). I think part of it has to do with how in Rebuild the focus is pretty much solely on Shinji and so the other characters' issues either aren't present or aren't as explored. And I know that Kaworu comes out of nowhere in NGE, too, but for some reason 3.33's plot felt more contrived - like Shinji is set up to be emotionally broken down because that's how it was in NGE, whereas in NGE it all felt more... sincere?... I guess. But whatever, all I ask of 4.0 is that it have Komm Susser Tod, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
Looks mostly CG to me, but I dunno. Compared to Asuka's fight in EoE it looks really silly IMO, but it's likely it won't end up in the movie anyway.
