But yeah, I'm not really sure what to expect from 4.0 (or 3.0+1.0 or whatever, if they're the same thing now ), and if it's meant to be Rebuild's equivalent to EoE then it has a lot to live up to. Given how much 3.0 shook things up (for better or for worse) it should at least be interesting, though.

To answer no, nothing here is new footage. It's just edited in a way that makes it look new.

Also the Shinji that my Profile pic is based off of and in this video at 1.50 is from a short titled Until You Come to Me, which we don't know is canon yet and hence where you think the new footage is from if you haven't seen the short.

Funny this thread popped up again, I just watched 3 for the first time. I was.. really disappointed though. :< Like the imagery and art were FANTASTIC, and although it makes many references to the Evangelion mythos, it has little of the philosophical inquiry and nuanced interaction that made the series and EoE so great. I think if they wanted to make such a dramatic time skip like that, then the movie should have been longer to facilitate more exposition - because it dumps a complete setting and character overhaul while also dropping the big reveals, which feel disjointed. Felt a lot of empathy for Shinji, though.
