Everything we know so far

While I'm happy that Nojima and Kitase are on board, I'm actually worried about Nomura. Yes, he designed the characters and had some unknown hand in conceptualising the story alongside Sakaguchi, but as someone pointed out elsewhere:

Let's not forget, the last time Nomura directed something FFVII related, we ended up with Advent Children.

I have no idea why Kitase isn't directing. He directed the original game, but he's listed here as a producer. It's entirely possible he's only listed as a producer on this remake because he directed the original game, and not because he's actually going to contribute anything.

I just get worried when I see Nomura's name on anything when it doesn't have a "Character Design" prefix in front of it. And even then.

Nomura would be much better in a director of cinematography type role, because hey, he's an artist and he absolutely has an eye for visual set pieces and the like. But I think when he's in a director's position with final say on everything he Tim Burton's it so everything is about the visuals and the rest is a bit soulless.

Still, I'm trying not to dismiss him as director out of hand with this, and have to admire his moxie in taking it on :monster:

I really disagree with that. He directed all the Kingdom Hearts games and I don't think those are soulless at all.
More importantly, KH is a really fun series. I do think Nomura knows how to make really fun games and honestly don't get why people keep shitting on him.

Advent Children wasn't great but it's a movie and none of these guys know shit about making a movie. Making a movie is so different from making a game or cutscenes that I don't even know why a game company would think they can handle it. :monster:

Also, Takeshi Nozue I believe is the guy responsible for the cinematic direction in particular so that role is already filled. :awesomonster:

^I'd actually God's honest forgot he'd directed the Kingdom Hearts games. :closedmonster:

Apologies Nomura, I owe ya more credit than I give ya

Idk, I think a lot of the characters seemed really heartless. :awesome:

Real talk though, I like Nomura. I like Advent Children. I was always under the assumption that it was devoid of story and character development because it was just too short to fit any of that in. And it was meant to just showcase Square Enix's best animating capacity at the time.
