Playing devils advocate, if Zack lived and both Cloud and Zack made it safely to Midgar, I don't think there would be an Aerith X Cloud at all. With that said could that have a change in dynamics between the two? If so, then I don't think Aerith X Cloud could be together either way? With or without Zack. I know that makes it sound hollow but....?

I'm curious to see what people will think if Cloud and Tifa still end up living together in the Remake timeline.

And then the Zack Lives Timeline shows Cloud and Tifa living together too.

'cause if Cloud stays together with Tifa in every timeline then I feel like people should get the message that it's trying to convey to people

I believe this will most likely happen due to AC:C and other works that happened post FF7. In my mind I don't think that they would throw away AC:C and DoC, just for the sake of having Aerith and Cloud together. That would be like SE suddenly being capricious after all the ground work they have built up to this point.

It would be like having a modern state of the art building built and then turn around right after, and decide to blow up the foundation to the building. Not sure if SE is willing to play that kind of "house of cards" game with FF7.

You know I've come around to the idea that "Hollow" has differently lines that are vaguely about Zack, Aerith and Tifa sometimes simulatenousy in different sections whereas I was certain that it was only about Aerith .

Since I used a war history analogy to talk about shipping, I'll continue from there and say that personally I'm dying to know what will be Clerith shipper's Siegfried line: something impressive and totally useless in the end, created with the delusion of being unbreachable and the best line of defense while leaving huge holes everywhere because it was uninished and probably will be left unfinished.
Nazis thought concrete fortifications were the tits so they rehashed the idea over and over again disregarding any real efectiveness, just like classic shipper arguments of "character assasination" and "cherrypicking authorial intent and canon sources disregarding context".

These analogies are funnier now I've remembered some of those shippers called themselves "pink nazis" unironically. :pinkmonster:

Nah, he recanted his law about two years go. You can use nazis to talk about everything because Poe's law isn't in effect anymore. :awesomonster:
Besides, I like to talk about war history and that means nazis and their ridiculous stunts.

Wait Poe's law is dead? My favorite pass time is saying outrageous nonsense hoping somebody won't realize I'm kidding.

Regarding you Siegfried line analogy, do you think it will be some interview snippet or in-game thing, that they will use as foolproof evidence of Clerith despite being clearly flawed? I feel like such things already exist. Pepsi cuuuuup

Oh, it will be both for sure! If you try to cover two fronts you end up covering none, that's some Art of war 101 but Adolf didn't get the memo so Cherith shippers will repeat the same mistake. And you know, the Siegfried line was commissioned to private entreprises at first (that would be something like that Pepsi cup, a third party creating what they see fit and shippers using it anyway because they need anything to build their line) so I expect it to be a laughingstock.
I may need to buy popcorn.

I wonder if SE's direction might be swayed by popular opinion.

In this post-launch interview, Kitase mentioned "We never talk about how characters relate with each other outside of what is depicted in the game. Our only focus has been how best to depict the characters in an appealing way as part of the remake. However, I also love to see the exciting discussions among the fans within the community."

I'm pretty new to this LTD / shipping community so I don't actually know which side has more supporters or the loudest voice (I do appreciate that everyone here has been incredibly passionate yet objective), but I certainly hope that SE would not simply bend to fan reactions and stick to creating a compelling story which I find that the compilation of FF7 is.

I feared Nomura's involvement with the project because admittedly I was quite disappointed with what he did with KH3, but ironically it gives me hope that he wouldn't be so easily swayed by popular opinion.

2 buster swords = 2 clouds, 1 for each girl.

This will do nothing to quell the shipping wars, but it will urge the fandom to go full Onecest.

Good idea but I doubt it takes. I made my share of "onecest" with CC Tifa (yes I know, I draw weird stuff, moving on)... it's lost somewhere in the room, my working area is a big jenga game using notebooks as building materials.
Bottom line: people are weird.

The one thing about Nomura directing is that I don't like that is that he always pushes for things to be kept ambiguous. He did it with Advent Children and he did it with TIfa and Cloud in KH 2.

Like, Nojima wanted to make Tifa explicitly Cloud's light in KH 2 but Nomura cut that because he wanted fans to speculate about it.

Problem being that no one speculated about it because we didn't even get a hint that Tifa was meant to be Cloud's light

So it's all Nomura's fault, as usual. :mon:

I like how the debate here is all interesting and serious with long yet well-crafted posts... meanwhile, in the LTD thread, we're talking about onecest and Hitler's fondness for concrete and more nazi fuckups.
TLS forum is a magical place.

Ya see, Cloti is like, a CLOTi, like a BLOOD CLOTi. You're gonna get a brain hemorrhage and fuckin die. Meanwhile the chad Clerith is like, CLE(A)Rith, meaning you have excellent cardiovascular health. Disprove that, atheists :neo:.

You're nailing the Clerith charade, it's almost as insane as some of their actual arguments. I remember a Clerith arguing in Tumblr years ago that blue and green colors create teal and that was a beautiful color but blue and brown mix was ugly and therefore Clerith>Cloti.

I was just thinking about how a Tifa-Cloud Life Partner relationship would work considering their Remake characterization where they get jealous of love competition:

Would they just be platonically committed to each other? No romance ever in their lives (until something happens between them)? lol

Tifa's eyes are red though, so that'd make purple.
I know. They probably were only familiar with Advent Children and little more. This kind of unhinged shippers hate facts and love cherry-picking, remember?

That's an interesting question.
People like to think Tifa would be forever alone if she can't be with Cloud but I doubt it. We're talking about a girl that at the age of 15 realized fairy tales were for children and decided to stop waiting for her "knight in shinning armor" to rescue her and learn martial arts instead.
I think Tifa would find someone even it was just out of companionship and to scratch the itch of forming a family and I don't think she had to go out of her way to find men interested in her, as the Remake shows.
Cloud... I think he will be forever alone unless he found someone that really, really, gets him; otherwise, I don't think Cloud would even be able to have any romantic relationship at all. And good luck with that, if Tifa's out of the picture...

Tl; dr: Tifa would have a somewhat normal life and commited relationships. Cloud would be forever alone (and since Tifa won't pay for his bike, that means no Fenrir).

Well....in this hypothetical, Tifa and Cloud are still committed to each other and living together.

Say they're raising Marlene and Denzel like in AC.

I'm more thinking how the other would react to their "platonic" SO getting a boyfriend/girlfriend.

Somehow I don't think either could handle it.
