Quick question though - how do you handle pairing problems, AKA swapping between PC and PS4 with the controller, is it a bitch? Or do you have 2 controllers?
Do you use USB (cable) or Bluetooth?

Okay, and you can just plug it out of the PC and straight into the PS4 and it will work with the PS4 without further adieu? And vice versa?

Just avoid pressing the Playstation button. I keep my PS4 off while it's plugged into the PC via USB. You can use it wirelessly with the PC if you have Bluetooth but I can't be arsed with it honestly.

But yeah, I switch all the time. Like I just unplug it from the PC if I'm not using it for PC gaming then press the PS button to turn on my PS4.

i ended up buying a cheap wired xbox controller just for pc games and emulating because messing around switching controllers around got mildly annoying for me :sadpanda:

i'm not sure where my ps3 controller's usb cable has gone after using it on my laptop :sadpanda:

Having tried various options, including DS3Tool and Better DS3, I've found SCPToolkit to be the best option for using a DS3 with Windows. I'm using the v1.7 beta at the moment because it doesn't announce that there's no new version to update to every time you switch your PC on. Just in case you decide to give your old controller another go. :)

I think the problem for me is that the DS3 has been ruined by the feel of the DS4 now, physically.

Most importantly the DS4 is completely hassle-free compared to the DS3 on PC, I found both Better DS3 and DS3Tool extremely finnicky to use. I could observe the same conditions (re: plugging in cables, starting the program, using the same settings) with the DS3 worked one day then just refused to function the next.

Whereas with the DS4 you can literally just plug it in and it works with most games and programs (on Win10 it's recognised as an XInput controller without 3rd party drivers). If it doesn't all you do is start up DS4 Windows and that always solves the problem by emulating the X360 controller. It even lets you use the trackpad on the controller as a mouse.

So I wanted to say thanks for your help, Lex and Tets. The PS4 controller thing worked flawlessly, didn't even have to re-set up my pad in PCSX2, which really impressed me.
