Don't know if anyone has been paying much heed to this amid all the Avengers and X-Men news and Spidey-movie non-news, but the first trailer for Fox's reboot of the FF film franchise was finally released:



There's not enough to go on yet to gauge whether it's going to be good or bad, but it does at least look pretty. The voice-over dude's voice was kind of annoying, though.

I will say I think the FF are going to prove to be a hard sell no matter what studio makes their movie. They don't really lend themselves to the typical superhero movie formula, and even within the comics, they were more explorers than anything.

In a lot of ways, Marvel lucked out by having to improvise and use the Guardians of the Galaxy as their replacement adventure family.

Oh, and I do love how the "4" in the logo resembles the slanted "A" in the "Avengers" logo. =P Very clever.

A lot of people are so hell bent on convincing the world this movie will suck. I've never been very interested in the FF myself but I'm willing to give this a shot.

I just saw the trailer and I'm surprisingly hyped up about this one. I just feel like the latest Marvel movies I've seen have been quite disappointing (I'm probably the only person on earth who didn't like GoG) and this seems somehow fresh. I'm really interested in what's going to happen in this film. ^_^

TBF I don't think they can make a rubber man not look corny, :monster:. It'd probably only sell if they aim it at a younger audience instead of the srs grimdark biusiness they're aiming at with this trailer. Actually the previous attempts were just that, :monster:

I stand unimpressed. It might be good, but I'm gonna wait until there is a bit more to see before I get my hopes up.

Honestly that teaser did absolutely nothing for me. I have exactly the same opinion of this movie that I did before I watched the teaser which is not much. Maybe if they had showed something at Comic Con I wouldn't keep forgetting this movie exists. They have a talented cast though.

I have to bring this up because it was mentioned elsewhere: I felt that, despite being kind of low-key, this trailer (aside from the VA who did the voice-over) was better than the one for Ant-Man - which isn't all that high of a bar insofar as trailers are concerned, but still. :awesomonster:

I agree with X. I look forward to Ant-Man because it is part of the MCU. If it wasn't, I wouldn't care much because that trailer was boring. This trailer got my attention more.

It is a better trailer than the Ant-Man one - still not very interested in this.

Ant-Man really only has the benefit of being part of the MCU that makes me interested.

I'm not a big FF fan, but from my understanding, they're more cartoonish and kid friendly than most other heroes. If that's right, then why does this have the tone/color palette of a serious, weighty film? Aside from that being what audiences "want" these days.

But then again, I think this version is supposed to have Doom be an angry blogger on the Internet.

This guy has no fucking clue what he's talking about. Sue is neither of those things. Yeah, Ultimate/Earth-1610 Sue is a scientist, but that version of the character hardly qualifies as having "always" been around -- and neither the Ultimate nor mainstream version was ever a slutty secretary.

Also: LOL at the suggestion that being slutty means you lack integrity. Fuck this guy.

Ok that was a better trailer. I'm back to being slightly interested in this movie. That being sad releasing this less than a week after the Star Wars and Batman vs. Superman teasers wasn't a good idea. This movie gets an F when it comes to marketing since last year they also wasted an opportunity to do something at Comic Con.

I'm so torn.

The first half of that trailer looks really really good. Like I legit want the first half to just be its own non superhero movie because the premise is actually pretty cool. "Bunch of kids spend half the movie trying to figure out interdimensional travel and the second half is their dad trying to save their asses after they screw up" Count me in that sounds cool "All I want to know is where are my children" was delivered so well I wanted it to be its own movie.

I was with that trailer all the way up till 1:25.


Everything after that is just sooooooo meh.
