All I know is that whoever decided to design Vincent an outfit with a gigantic chained-up metal arm... only to put it on his un-armored right arm, where he needs to have precise manual dexterity in order to wield a firearm, rather than just modifying the look of the armor on his left arm – which is literally a part of his base character and is designed to be a wild bestial claw just... really dropped the ball.

All of his animations & everything with it just look wrong, like someone accidentally screwed up the skin.

I think that's because he is Tyr. Tifa is Fenrir, 100% and I suddenly made the connection with Cloud in ACC even deeper (she has the same Fenrir symbol on her cape than Cloud wears, plus the family rings).
The last bit of story isn't available yet but I think that just like Cloud who heard Aerith and Zack's voices in ACC and learned to let them go, Tifa heard the voices of the Avalanche trio and learns to let them go.

As Fenrir, she will be Odin's "killer" in the sense I feel that she will make him bow and force him to release them all to their world.

There's a placeholder on the site for a trailer, so I really hope that we do end up getting an event out of it at least. That Aerith outfit is just PEAK.

The "Relationships" image is pretty funny, as are the various details in the character bios, especially the Birthdays & Blood Types of the TFS crew. While there's the division between Midgard Seventh High School & Shinra Private Academy, my favourite bit is ignoring that and just looking at the core roles everyone has:

Teachers:
  • Glenn: Art
  • Matt: Poli-Sci / Economics
  • Lucia: Biology
  • Barret: P.E.

Second Year Students:
  • Angeal
  • Aerith
  • *Zack (was held back and is a First Year again)

First Year Students:
  • Sephiroth
  • Cloud
  • Tifa

Whoever came up with this has my utmost gratitude for their commitment to the bit at leaning in on everything about the characters while also pushing into some unexpected things like Aerith as their school's "big bad" with that awesome Kendo-Shinai-as-a-Staff.

Been a bit busy so I'm only just now getting to the new TFS story. Here's the recap:

Bachman recaps the ending of the previous chapter, explaining that Sephiroth was talking about reclaiming Masamune's sword even though it was never his to begin with, and that they recognized he was acting strange, but that they didn't have to dwell in it. They enter the temple carved into the side of the rock face.

20250419171506_1.jpg

Inside we see a few of those purple wisps and then Bachman explains that this is the carven of Hodono, and that deep within five statues keep watch over the land, though he is then confused as to how he knew that information. Alissa suggests that the land has taken an interest in him, as it has in her. They fight some monsters that have grown ferocious due to being sealed inside the temple.

Deeper inside they find a monument engraved with ancient letters they don't recognize, and wonder if it might be an incantation or cipher. Purple wisps appear and become ghostly illusions of the Igaran people saying that Da-chao told them to migrate to the north after their land was burned.

Bachman hears a voice that tells him what the engraving says: "Da-chao, Molhan, Baltai, Gakuren, Laidoh--The Five Swords of Igara. Though they bravely fought back the beast, the magic they unleashed engulfed our home. We fled." He then guides them ahead. Alissa remarks that he has the protection of the land, and as his companions they do as well. Angeal doesn't believe it, but she tells him to just go along with it.

1745102205416.png

Further within they find a chamber where the walls are covered in deep slashes, which they surmise could have only been done with Masamune's blade. A wisp appears and shows them a vision of the swordsmith Masamune forging the blade using some sort of brightly glinting metal.

1745102436554.png

He finishes the blade and marvels at its will, describing it as a sword to surpass others. The illusion then erupts in purple flames and transforms into a purple winged demon--a valron. After defeating it, Alissa says that Masamune was acting like the sword possessed him, and Angeal suggests that the sword deceived Masamune into perfecting it and now has its sights set on Sephiroth. Sephiroth says that it's already been decided that he's meant to wield it, but Angeal says it's not just the sword, the whole place is trying to trick them. Alissa says it's their job to investigate how.

1745102896662.png

They soon arrive in a large antechamber in which the statues of the five warriors are arranged in recesses, on a spiral path leading up to platform upon which rests a giant sealing stone. The statues are bound in paper talismans. A purple wisp appears and slips into Bachman's mind, and he explains:

Baltai, a warrior with a massive body whose strength was matched only by his love of drinking, which got him in so much trouble that he spent half of his life in prison. Da-chao recruited him to their cause, and he used his strength to shield his allies; died at age 34.

Angeal says it doesn't look human, and Bachman says it's just a prison for the monster maintained by Baltai's power. The statue erupts into purple flames, and from that emerges a pale white valron called the Tainted. Upon defeating it, one of the flames surrounding the large stone slab in the center of the antechamber turns from orange to purple, and they surmise that defeating all the monsters sealed in the statues will allow them to break the seal on the central chamber. Angeal cautions them that he feels something strange, and Bachman says he feels it too, but it doesn't feel bad, and Angeal should let it in. As they proceed, Angeal crosses his arms and lingers behind for a moment.

We then get our new exploration dungeon, in which Angeal and Sephiroth are tasked with finding and defeating the Tainted sealed in the other statues. As we find them, Bachman provides descriptions for each:

Molhan, the youngest and only woman of the Five Swords, agile and acrobatic, relayed orders among Da-chao's allies during the battle with the creature; died at age 17.

Gakuren, the oldest, practiced Igaran conjury (magic in today's tongue), performing fearsome feats by placing a terudama (materia in today's tongue) in his mouth. On the verge of death he unleashed the inferno that defeated the beast and set Igara ablaze; died at age 62.

Laidoh, a swordsman and nephew of Da-chao said to have surpassed him. He held off the fiends as they burned single-handedly, paying no heed to his own burns. He continued to guard the party as they ventured home, defending them from other beasts, at last appearing as fire incarnate, clad in burning armor; died at age 25.

The last is Da-chao himself, the hero of heroes who founded Wutai, and the sole survivor of the five. Bachman compares him to Sephiroth, but Sephiroth rejects the comparison.

As they near the final statue Angeal insists that they take a break and clear their heads, recognizing that the other three are behaving strangely, and realizing it's like the result of this place. Sephiroth refuses, and the other two question whether it would be more dangerous to stay in place. Sephiroth tells him he's free to leave if he's scared, but he's going after the blade. Angeal flashes back to the mission briefing at Shinra HQ that Sephiroth skipped, during which the Second Class SOLDIER giving the briefing said that Sephiroth is special and gets every mission done; at the time Angeal thought it would make him a good partner, but is now having second thoughts.

They reach the final statue and Bachman explains:

Da-chao, a middle-aged swordsman with a rough demeanor who loved his homeland and was respected by all. As the leader of Igara's warriors he took it upon himself to defeat the beast, and the other warriors volunteered to aid him, deeply moving him. He wrote letters to each, recruited the four strongest, and set off to face the fiend. He returned covered in burn scars. He led the people north to found Wutai and his advise contributed to their great prosperity; survived to the age of 100.

Alissa says that Da-chao was changed by the fighting in Igara. Sephiroth asks the statue to witness his strength, and they fight a red valron called the Befouled.

1745105156538.png

Upon defeating it the stone vanishes, revealing a spiral stairway down. Angeal makes them halt, saying that he's concerned that they aren't in their right minds, saying that their job was to investigate the village, not obsessively track down this sword. Bachman is acting like he was born here, and Alissa sees it happening too. Though Alissa thinks Angeal is the strange one for not accepting what's happening.

1745105319952.png

Sephiroth tells Angeal not to get in their way, and Angeal responds by punching him in the face and telling him to get a grip.

1745105382807.png

Sephiroth responds in kind, saying nothing will stop him from retrieving the sword.

1745105444656.png

He says the feeling isn't strange, and that his desire is everything. The trio leaves Angeal behind and proceeds, reaching the Sword's Chamber.

1745105516135.png

As Angeal lies unconscious, he is swarmed by purple wisps and has a vision of him taking his mother and father on a vacation to Costa del Sol. In the vision he talks about how grateful he is and how he wanted to repay their kindness, and that no matter how difficult it is in Midgar or how hard the work is, he can always lift up his sword and remember how proud it makes him, just like they do.

1745105799600.png
He tells them that as his work takes him around the world and broadens his horizons, he wants to take them to visit all the places he visits. His father offers him another new sword (resembling the Mythril Saber). His father says that since Angeal never uses his sword, it must be because he doesn't like it; perhaps it's too big or heavy. Angeal thinks to himself that he doesn't use it because it's so special to him, and he knows how much it cost his father. His father apologizes for making him lug around a big hunk of steel, but Angeal realizes that this is an illusion, and his father would never say such a thing... because his father was dead, and it was his fault. The phantoms of his parents vanish and he's surrounded by a swarm of purple wisps and he falls to his knees.

The scene changes to something like a void, and his mother appears, warning him that he can't make a ruckus over every injustice in a place like Shinra. He responds saying he now knows for sure that this isn't really his mother.

1745106310194.png

The illusion transforms into a valron and he defeats it. Angeal says that he didn't know what his mother's life was like, but did know that she passed down to him important lessons: Be true to your sense of justice. Don't let your surroundings dictate your actions. He draws the Buster Sword and slashes through the illusion.

With the illusion dispelled, he wonders who is appearing before Sephiroth to manipulate his heart.

As the trio approaches the sword, the wisps appear and swarm, and Sephiroth collapses, remarking that the blade will always be his. He flashes back to when he and Team Glenn returned from the mission to Rhadore.

1745106658680.png

The SOLDIER tells him that he's to report to the President to receive a special commendation, despite Sephiroth declaring the mission a failure. His three subordinates are to return tot he barracks and await further instructions. Sephiroth demands that they be commended as well, but they tell him to just go and not make it difficult. Glenn pats him on the shoulder and tells him not to worry, they'll have a party and get drunk in honor of his promotion.

20250419185439_1.jpg

Later at their party, Sephiroth says that he doesn't feel like celebrating, but they cheer him on, telling him that he now has his pick of missions. Glenn tells him to give them a call if anything easy and lucrative turns up. Sephiroth says it'd be a waste, he'll call them when he really needs them, for the tough missions. Glenn slumps and the other laugh. Matt tells Sephiroth that he has a place in mind to investigate for their next mission, handing him a photograph:

20250419185720_1.jpg

They marvel at its aura and wonder if a treasure might be there. Sephiroth say it resembles Wutai, but different. As Matt prepares to offer the details, a Shinra Security Forces CO and infantry member enter, ordering Glenn, Matt, and Lucia to come with him. He informs them that they are to face judgment by tribunal and will be detained.

20250419190016_1.jpg

Sephiroth attempts to admit his involvement, but the CO cuts him off telling him that the chief engineer testified and cleared him, which Sephiroth calls out as a lie. Glenn, Matt, and Lucia apologize and tell him that they'll be fine, and Glenn asks him to watch Refu for him. Before leaving, Lucia gives Refu a pat and glances back at Sephiroth. Refu approaches a dejected Sephiroth and whimpers, and he says he'll see them soon.

Sephiroth then awakens to the sound of Alissa calling him. He tells her that he's okay and was just lost in thought...

Boss fight with Spirit Demon Masamune:

20250419190626_1.jpg

20250419190628_1.jpg

Upon defeating him, Masamune praises Sephiroth, asking for his name.

20250419191459_1.jpg

Masamune tells Sephiroth that he judges him worthy, but wonders if the spirits will as well. He explains that it was these spirits who commanded he forge the blade as the swirling purple wisps emerge and encircle him. He says they dwell in this land and none can say where they may guide them. The body is enveloped in purple flame which fades, returning the swordsmith to the previous desiccated state.

20250419191754_1.jpg

As Sephiroth approaches, Bachman prepares to take a photo, but when he reaches for the blade it is cloaked in purple flames and vanishes. Sephiroth draws his own Nameless and asks if they're toying with him. Alissa reminds him that this is a test.

Suddenly, a voice.
20250419192027_1.jpg

They turn to face it.

20250419192040_1.jpg

Sephiroth grasps his head. The unseen voice continues: "I'm sorry! I'm sorry about the necklace! I feel really bad, you know. Not a day goes by I don't regret it. Sorry I hit you, too. But...you understand why I did, right?" Sephiroth nods, "...Yes." The voice, "There you are! C'mon, get over here!"

Finally Angeal steps forward and asks whose voice that is.

Sephiroth walks towards the exit... and the chapter ends. To be continued!

The Story Beyond: The Looming Trials

  • Bachman's Journal: The Trials

The group discusses whether Glenn could actually be there, but Sephiroth thinks it's impossible. Alissa asks if he's going to follow it, and he says he needs some time and they decide to rest.

Bachman goes over the footage for the investigation in Hodono Temple, describing the place as captivating, like it manifested from the tragedy that befell the land and the suffering of its people. He describes how, as he entered, it was as if Igara embraced him and his mind was filled with its history. He explains that the statues of the Five Swords of Igara had stood watch for a thousand years, sealing away "another calamity: the swordsmith Masamune."

Bachman says Sephiroth defeated the swordsman and with him tore the corruption out of Igara by the roots and claimed the sword... or so it seemed. In truth, more trials awaited him. Then Glenn's voice echoed through the cave and shook Sephiroth's resolve. He wonders if these cruel trials are meant to mold Sephiroth further, resolving to document every part of Sephiroth's legend.

  • Standing Strong

A vision of Sephiroth fighting specimens in Hojo's lab under his superivision. "Jenova" appears and tells Hojo to stop, distracting Sephiroth. When the specimen attacks, she steps in front but he defeats it, receiving a minor wound. Sephiroth tells her to leave because it's too dangerous. Hojo notes that all of Sephiroth's parameters are increasing. Hojo attempts to deploy another monster, but "Jenova" refuses and escorts him from the lab.

Back in his room, "Jenova" tends to his wound, but Sephiroth says she's the one he's worried about. She tells him he's a special person in this world with the ability to save and defend the weak, and it's up to her to protect him. She embraces him and tells him he needs to rest.

As Sephiroth falls asleep, he thinks: "You're the only person in the whole world who cares about me this much... And I care about you just as deeply. Even if the world crumbled to dust, I would be there to protect you."

  • Death and Regret

A vision of Angeal returning home to Banora for his parents' funeral. He is dressed in a black suit, as are the villagers. They offer him their condolences and tell him to run home, where he finds his father's casket outside. They tell him that with his father dying before his time, it's up to him to be there for his mother.

They leave him with his mother, but when he approaches and tells her that they'll give his father a proper send-off, she tells him he has a lot of nerve showing up here and blames him for his father's death. She blames him for joining SOLDIER, driving his father to go into debt, and says he's a fraud and murderer, not really helping anyone and just trying to make himself feel better while looking down on everyone else.

Angeal thinks to himself that she's not really wrong. He says he always wanted to help his struggling parents, but wonders if he really was just trying to run away from his own misery and powerlessness. He asks if he only helped others because he wanted to be praised.
He falls to his knees and asks if he should just disappear. Gillian leans in and tells him that everyone makes mistakes, and he can atone for his sins by sleeping forever.

The present day Angeal appears and slashes through the illusion with the Buster Sword. He stands, remarking that he almost fell for their tricks again. He looks at the Buster Sword and asks if it is what brought him back. Looking over the others, sleeping, he decides that his warnings won't work on them and that they'd rather be enveloped by the false comfort of the illusions, and holding the Buster Sword before his face, declares that he won't yield to them.

I thought that this was some REALLY neat backstory for everything with Wutai (given that its IRL background is heavily steeped in Japan's own history with China), and I expect that a bunch of this will carry through into things that we see directly in Part 3. That being said, it also emphasized how the team working on Ever Crisis seems to be running a bit lean, since they're clearly having to scale back on some of the things that they were clearly building at with this given what we can see in how The Five Mighty Gods in the Pagoda that Yuffie faces off against in the original game are a clear & direct analogy to the 5 Swords of Igarashi being introduced here.

Gorkii from the Pagoda's first floor is directly analogous to encounter the statue & lore with Baltai – both representing Power. Even the monstrous creature that's unsealed called "The Tainted" is a Valron – the exact same transformation that Gorkii undergoes in the original FFVII. The Valron got an updated model in Rebirth, which is what Ever Crisis uses here, and so I was expecting the subsequent encounters to follow that same pattern with the same creatures as the original game – since all of the requisite normal enemies already got new models in Rebirth.

Shake & Molhan both represent Speed & would transform into a Skeeskee (Rebirth ver)
Chekhov & Gakuren both represent Magic & transform into a Twin Brain (Rebirth ver)
Staniv & Laidoh represent War & would transform into a Screamer (Rebirth ver)
Godo & Da-Chao representing Omni (all of the previous ones together)
Masamune at the very end

What we got was... not that.

The Lv 35 for Baltai's statue referred to as "The Tainted" matched perfectly.
This is followed by three identical battles against a Lv 36 "The Tainted" Valron for Molhan, Gakuren, & Laidoh
Then for Da-Chao there is a red-colored Lv 37 Valron called "The Befouled"
And then Masamune at the very end with his new, altered & more monstrously transformed design.

Very clearly, it feels like Molhan, Gakuren, & Laidoh's fights were all just placeholders, hence them all being an identical level that also doesn't match to what Baltai's was, and that they're not mapped to the correct enemy that they were supposed to have been tied to.

It clearly seems like this was SUPPOSED to have been set up so that that every form of the enemy that you fought at the statues one-by-one for the first 4 on the way up would have been powered up and then rematched as a big back-to-back battle for Da-Chao (since Ever Crisis can have 4 back-to-back fights). This would have appropriately represented the Omni power that aligns to this concept, and is what we see with "The Tainted" changing into "The Befouled" as that follows this exact design.

It's clear that they didn't really get past whatever work they did with the very first encounter, and they weren't really being given the bandwidth for investing any more time for importing & adding in new enemies for these encounters, so they just cut things off with the very first one, tossed in three mirrors into everything that wasn't complete, and shipped it as-is. Why that was done is baffling, since there's really no deadline for that content, so I'm not sure why they're rushing out an opportunity to actually get some variety into the list of enemies that you're able to encounter in the game – unless you're just attempting to see this strictly by a cost/time investment – because the live service doesn't care if it's recycling the same tiny pool of bosses & enemies until the end of time.

This is one of those things about how the mobile gaming model and different time investment prioritizations drive me absolutely fucking crazy. It's this very purposeful connection and attention to establishing all these key nuances of detail where the design work that is inextricably intertwined between the story and the gameplay is getting obliterated because whoever is managing the budget is cutting corners so that they can just keep looping these battles as Events, which is detracting from any of the lasting value that Ever Crisis can provide in its story.

Those two parts of the business are aggressively working against each other, because I can't really even imagine any world where you'd be playing through Chapter 2 Episode 3 of The First SOLDIER where the encounter against a Lv 35-37 Valron doesn't just evaporate underneath you, because it's impossible to scale the game's story content against the relentless power creep of the live game service. You'd have to barely ever touch the game, and only level up through the story content, and just... why is that forced to exist in that same hollowed-out content shell?

The way things are now, those models are stuck in a place where they just diametrically oppose one another, and is everything that is bad about the modern games industry attempting to pump out profit, because this content's value is a patchwork mess – compared to the original game, where I can go back and dig into countless details of nuance of the design, story, & battle systems all interconnecting with one another BECAUSE there's still time and attention given to the battles that are throw-away one-offs. Especially these key story-centric cliff-notes moments that the Ever Crisis-version of the stories are being boiled down to, it sucks that even THOSE can't get a full commitment to delivering the content in a meaningful way that doesn't compromise on the integrity of narrative threads.

It's one of those things where I sort of want to write a defense of the devs working on this who clearly aren't being given what they need to actually deliver what we'd expect from a publisher who's supposed to care about what it's creating, and how it's robbing this part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII from having a meaningful legacy.

They had a big update thread on Twitter that I've been picking through.

SOOOO excited that RIVAL FANTASY: EVER CRISIS ACADEMY SEVEN is gonna be launching super soon, since I think it just seems like the sort of fun time with an event that I really want to do well.

Some good looking costumes for Zack & Angeal in the summer and a Dragon Quest crossover that's almost certain to have some OP banners in August, with a costume & weapon shown for Young Sephiroth.

Be careful with the DQ crossover: usually anniversary and half anniversary get the best weapons, so you'd want crystals for those, and the DQ crossover is in August, right before the anniversary.

I was actually thinking back to the Monster Hunter Crossover, where the Kamura Wand from that having Spiritual Harmony for giving all allies Physical Attack High & MDef High (with high HP), as well as the Materia C-Ability for Heal Boost & Cure-All is still one of the most absurdly overpowered weapons in the game for Aerith. If, like me, you missed it because of not playing EC during that crossover, there's basically zero chance of EVER getting access to it again – compared to the Anniversary stuff which DOES come back around, albeit a lot more slowly.

While Dragon Quest is at least a SE title rather than a Capcom crossover, so that there's a better possibility of it maybe showing up somehow after that crossover, those are the ones that seem to have the potential to be game-breaking and which you should assume will NEVER be back. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on some of the more hardcore EC players to see what they think of the weapons and if it's at worth at least securing them.

True that, they said they were looking what to do about Kamura (uh what about giving other healers a weapon as good?), so let's wait and see I guess. But for sure I'll have to save up soon, because with the high school event, I fear my crystals are just going to melt away like ice lol.

Those were recaps of the livestream from this morning:

Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura joined in as the "voice from above" and was a bit spicy. even antagonistic towards the producer.

I'll recap it as best as I can:

Nomura started out by saying he was there with news about a new collaboration, and then the hosts said that's what everyone's anticipating but it's too early in the broadcast, and Nomura apologized and said he's been a bit sick and spaced out. Producer Ichikawa said he's already sweating, and Nomura said that late last night he called Ishikawa and asked him to make some changes to the broadcast sequence and everything got turned upside down.

Later, the cohost said she's having trouble clearing floor 74 of the Battle Tower: Singularity and they talked about how difficult it is and urged everyone to learn together and try their best to clear all 100 floors. They asked Nomura how he's progressed and he said he hasn't felt that motivated lately, and lately he's been having trouble understanding things and feels like he needs to send someone a LINE message to get clarification.

It seems that maybe the change Nomura requested to the broadcast were to put the Dragon Quest Tact collaboration front and center and talk about the DQT side of the collab since it's starting this week, even though the EC side of the collab is still a long ways off, scheduled for August.

They then shared the schedule for the broadcast and said next they would talk about data and stats for the 1.5 anniversary, and asked Nomura if it has been well received, but he just replied with "Huh?" and then apologized and said he was distracted reading comments in the chat, and said he's listening and that the players have a voice.

They then discuss some stats: Of players who attempted BF1 of the Battle Tower: Singularity event, 24% have cleared up to BF100, and the big wall that the majority of players couldn't clear was BF89, Angeal Penance. The producer explains how to defeat him. Then, for Battle Tower: Singularity (Brutal), only 0.45% of players have cleared up to BF30. They said it was actually higher than expected, since it's tuned to be extremely difficult, and his expectation was that only about 0.1% of players would be able to clear it. 3.12% of players cleared BF29. The producer says it's meant to be very challenging and only small number of players will get the special icon to show off.

The cohost asks Nomura, who is reading chat, how players feel about that. He says, "Everyone is angry. It's too difficult." He explains that even though it's meant to be challenging, the clear percentage is very low so they should consider rebalancing it so more people can complete it. The producer said that the last time they did the challenge with Sephiroth, they felt he was cleared too easily, so they maybe made it too difficult this time and would strive to find a better balance. The cohost says that she wants to try and beat it, but when she sees the clear rate is that low, it makes her feel like there's probably no way she can do it. The producer says his goal is to create one thing for advanced players and another that everyone can clear, but will take today's feedback into consideration for the future.

They then share the data for the Odin Escalation Challenge. From Lv.1 to Lv.15 the clear rate drops from 68% down to 9%. Starting from Lv.16 to Lv.20, the clear rate drops dramatically from 5% down to 2%. From Lv.21 to Lv.30, the clear rate drops from 0.7% to 0.3%. The producer says since they were just met with complaints about things being too difficult it's awkward for him to explain, but he'll try and explain. Basically Earth Arcanum Yuffie was the only good option for many people unless they got the Earth Tifa weapon and costume from the 1.5 Anniversary Banners, and they tried to balance it so people would be able to clear the first 20 levels with levels 21-30 meant for advanced players, but in the future they will make adjustments so everyone can progress and clear it to get the important rewards while keeping the hardest levels a challenge for advanced players.

They then talk about the 1st anniversary gear exchange tokens and show the stats for what players picked. Surprisingly, Masamune Battle Garb for Cloud was #1, and they think that must be new players who missed it when the game first came out. #2 was Electro Armor for Barret, which they correctly identified as a very utilitarian choice. They mentioned that for the 1.5% anniversary gear exchange, currently Red XIII's pilot's jacket is the most popular which makes sense because it's an absolute necessity if you want to use him as a healer, and Yuffie's Earth Arcanum gear, which he thinks was because people felt like they needed it to clear Odin. In both cases the producers says he wants to do more gear token exchanges so players have choice over what they want, and recognizes it's important to give players access to the tools they need for the battles.

Nomura then remarks that he was surprised that Barret got second place, and they mention that it was a really strong costume. He jokes that they need to release more gear for Barret, a banner every week. They joke that usually it's players demanding a girl every week, and Nomura just says, "Weekly Barret." The cohost says she would like to see a weekly Barret and they should move on to the next report.

Next, the ranking for weapons that players used their Character Specific Weapon Parts on (it's mostly limited weapons and they find that players tend to use them on weapons to cover weak points in their compositions). They talk a bit about home screen wallpaper (Tifa and Cloud wallpapers are the most popular) and guild chat stamp usage popularity. Nomura wonders if people are using the stamps and checks the chat, where he finds that the FF6 stamp of Mog saying "Kupo!" is popular.

They then talk about the 1.5 anniversary report, and ask Nomura what he thinks about it. He says that collecting data and reviewing reports is fun, and Nomura basically says they you shouldn't do surveys too often, but they haven't done any surveys at all, and there have been a lot of (negative) comments, so he thinks in a situation like this they should do some surveys and collect player feedback.

The producer talked about how he wants to make sure every character has a powerful weapon so they're trying to cycle them all through to get limit break banners, but at the same time there's been a lot of feedback about limited weapons being hard to get, so they're trying to come up with some more solutions to address that, and will have more details in the future. Nomura then says that there are a lot of negative comments about the restrictions on limit break weapons being too harsh and that they should address that. He notes that they were well received initially, so people do want them, but they need to figure out a solution.

For the June event, the concept is a VR construct of Angeal Penance that is using Portal to summon people into the virtual world who want to disappear from existence. They note that it's actually quite a sad story. They say it's basically the same mechanics as the Battle Tower fight he explained earlier. Plus rerun the FFVI collab event.

In June they're also going to overhaul the recommendation feature into more of an optimization feature where you can choose to lock individual equipment slots and so forth. Producer says he's aware a lot of people have had issues using the recommended feature so hopes this helps with that and to just wait a little bit longer for it to be ready. The cohost says it's been really difficult to get right, and Nomura says even if it's difficult they have to do it. Nomura also says he saw someone in the chat saying they skipped over May, and they're going to talk about it later.

For July, they go over new swimsuit costumes for Zack and Angeal. Nomura mention's that Angeal's weapon for his summer outfit is an inflatable pool toy shaped like the Buster Sword.

They then go over some other major updates to the game: changing how Stream Phase works so you can build up damage modifiers and extend it rather than just rushing to interrupt; they want to improve Cloud, Sephiroth, and Zack since they have all fallen behind lately; and they want to change how weapon upgrading works after OB10 since now lots of people are at OB10+20 and duplicates feel like a waste; they note that they can refund players' spent duplicate weapon parts when they change how weapon part upgrades work, so no need to worry about it.

They then announced the EC Academy event for May, and the producer changes into a boy's school uniform. Nomura remarks that if he'd known he was going to do that he would have stopped him. He then says he doesn't really like April Fool's, he doesn't like those kinds of jokes, but when the team came to him and said they wanted to do it for real, he agreed. The cohost says that the prank was that people wouldn't expect it to become real. The producer says that it was a younger member of the team that proposed it, and they were really enthusiastic about it and presented it to Nomura saying they really want to do it for real.

Nomura said that amongst the fans, there are probably some who love it, and other fans of the original who wouldn't appreciate it, but he realized that the team was serious about doing it properly, so he thought he'd let them give it a try. Regarding the character designs, he was a bit worried about how people would feel about Aerith's design since it's a big departure from her normal character. He's also curious about what the Turks and various other characters might be like in this world, and if they explore that more will depend on how popular this event turns out to be.

After they go over Tifa and Barret's gear and weapons they ask Nomura what he thinks, but he apologizes because he's a bit distracted reading the chat. They ask if there's anything he's wondering about, and he says just like before people are worried about it being limited, then basically says "seems like something you should be fixing, huh?" and then the producer says "gosh the voice from above sure is harsh today."

After showcasing the Aerith costume, the producer says that with regards to the limited banners thing, this time around they're considering changing the banners to better reflect the academy theme of the event and will give everyone a "student discount" of sorts. Instead of having four stamp sheets, there will just be two, and while the gear will be on the final stamp of the first sheet like usual, there will be more guaranteed weapon slots, so that clearing both sheets should guarantee that you'll reach OB10. He notes that they want to make the limited banners feel like a good deal that's more satisfying to everyone. He also says that they will be giving away 100 of the ultimate weapon exchange items to get Glenn's ultimate weapon, since players won't need to pull as many times on the banners to reach their desired OB level.

They go over the rest of the anniversary campaign stuff, and then talk about some more general information, like Rebirth being released on PC and Remake Integrade being announced for Switch 2. Nomura mentions that people in the chat are asking about Part III, and he says he can't really talk about it, but they're working diligently and making steady progress, so he asks the audience to be patient and not worry.

In the end they talk about planning another one of these streams for four months from now, ahead of the second anniversary, and Nomura basically says that up until now they've only been doing it once a year, and he was talking to them about doing more livestreams.

Nomura then tells the producer that, reading the chat, there have been people saying all kinds of things, and there are a lot of harsh comments. He says that those harsh comments come from people being passionate about the game, and tells the producer that he should listen to them and take them seriously. He also basically says that they should have these livestreams more frequently, give players more gifts, get more feedback, and that the results will be better if they do that.

The producer also then brings up the Kamura Wand from the Monster Hunter collaboration and says that it's a very important weapon that's not longer obtainable and they're thinking about coming up with some sort of solution.

They then give some final remarks and the producer basically says that they have a lot of stuff in the works leading to the second anniversary, and even more stuff planned for beyond, etc. Then Nomura apologizes if it seemed like he was being mean, but he's a bit under the weather and halfway through the broadcast a staff member put a box of tissues down next to him, but he's glad he made it through without issue. He then tells everyone to take care of themselves and be careful with the cold wind.
