No, no new renders since President Shinra, Roche, and Heidegger months ago. They've gotten behind, I guess. A lot of hires character renders still to provide. Hopefully for every revealed character and not just a select few.

That reminds me, someone on Resetera posted close-ups of those renders.

It’s beautiful. But something is off about Tifa’s face? In fact everyone’s face looks a tad off, like they didn’t polish the expressions. Except red 13, he looks fire

If you really look, you can see quite a bit of pollution below that beautiful sunrise. It just doesn't extend that far above the city.
The leaked shot of Wall Market looks super polluted:

One thing that always annoyed me about the OG was the large ring of depleted soil that was depicted as very dark. Dark soil is usually more fertile. It would be better if it were a bleak tan - desert. I feel that AC did that right.

The fog not extending far above the city is just a case of temperature inversion. It's hard to tell whether the fog is due to pollution or simple air humidity - you'd have to smell it.

Playing the OG way back, I never imagined that Midgar was permanently shrouded in darkness. The field screen of Aerith's house was a good indication of that (as well as the field screens shown when you're leaving Midgar). It's just that most environments in the slums are shaded by the Plate, and all the scenes above the Plate happened at night time. Being able to see Midgar under a different light was something I've been always looking forward to.

I am really curious as to how Meteor will interact with a day/night cycle, if Part 7 has one. In the OG it was the sky-ball-of-plot-convenience, it’s there whenever the camera is pointing up and no matter where you go on the perpetual-daylight-world-map. Hmmm! I could see Meteor becoming beautiful, in its own way...

(please please please a Horizon or Uncharted style camera mode pleeease)

Perhaps we can explain the continuity error of having it suddenly switch from afternoon to night (and then back again) during the Diamond Weapon attack as an eclipse between meteor and the sun. :monster:

EDIT: Shit, I just remembered that it switches back to night a second time, so that wouldn't work.

I really hope there is a countdown until it destroys the planet. That way it gives us a sense of urgency once it's summoned. Make all the side stuff accessible prior to that happening.

Maybe a countdown the player can turn off, because I find that stuff really stressful.
If they have all the side stuff accessible prior to meteor being summoned, I think it could work?

How much main story stuff was left to do after it was summoned in the OG, anyway?
