I suppose it counts for something that II, V, VI, VIII and IX haven't been included in this yet. You can't really say the first FF hasn't since Dissidia was its prequel.

I'm actually really surprised they haven't tried to pull something out for VIII. I mean, I'm not a fan, but VIII still has a really nostalgic base, Squall is called out as one of the most popular protagonists (in Japan), and I remember reading one poll that it beat VII in people who wanted remakes (at least, it's a Japanese poll). I suppose the release in VIII is something.
I'd rather have a VI sequel, but it doesn't lend itself to another game, with all the magic gone. VIII actually has an opening with Rinoa being a witch and all.
Of course, this is barring the fact that I'd rather have an original IP than a sequel. But I'd rather have both over a remake of any game. With maybe the exception of the Chrono series.

I'm not so much annoyed with the Tidus/Yuna de-pairing (though it does annoy me) as I am with the idea that they're going to bring Sin back and make the endeavours of the first game effectively meaningless
Like, the point of the first game was to make Sin fucking go away for good, you can't just renege on that shit for the purposes of a sequel

Though the more I think about it it would be hilarious if during the timeskip, Yuna and Tidus had gotten together, had a child, and Tidus being the chucklefuck he was kinda skipped out on priorities and they had a divorce

When Yuna refuses, Chuami uses Tidus against her, saying that Tidus is in Bevelle and he seems to be injured, which immediately sparks Yuna's worry.
Yuna agrees to go after consulting Wakka and Lulu, who also come along.
The fayth are acting weird. What fayth normally show are memories or just images of dead people. However, at the Moonflow the traveling crew witness a fayth image respond to a child's question like a sentient being. The child begs her mother to come back, and the mother answers in affirmative.
This later relates to the reappearance of Sin at Bevelle, implying that someone wished for Sin to come back.
In any case, when Sin reappeared, they realize the problem of trying to defeat Sin when summons no longer exist. Wakka and Kurugum defer to Yuna, waiting for her decision on how to handle the new Sin, but like an airhead she says amidst all of this that she must meet Tidus.
So Chuami's pissed and she decides to eavesdrop on Yuna and Tidus. Who happen to be having a lovers' quarrel while Sin runs off like Godzilla I suppose.
At this point Kurugum tells Chuami they will have to part because he has to go with Yuna, that Chuami won't understand because she's not a summoner. Chuami is confused, throws her hands up and tells him to do what he wants.
Chuami heads back to Besaid. Tidus also goes, to ask Lulu about the new guy that Yuna likes. Lulu tells him to go find the guy himself.
At the beach, Chuami wonders aloud where the summoners are; Tidus answers that they must go 'there' (I think he's implying Zanarkand?). Chuami asks him if he's okay with being dumped for that, to which Tidus replies, "We made a promise to be together forever."

I haven't really played X-2 so I don't know the specifics but
It could just be setup for a new book. Nojima seems interested in those these days.
If Tidus can become reality through force of will.... then it stands that Sin could too.
The only slightly disturbing part is that Tidus came because twuwuv or something like that. Why would anyone want Sin back, and want him back with that intensity.
And why would the creators want Sin back. Sin was great because he was this omnipresent unstoppable, unknowable force. He was so intrenched in the mindset that he set the pace for the entire culture, people had religions and practices centered around him. I've had nightmares like him, a strange force that comes and just destroys.
Reintroducing Sin would not have that same effect. The people have already comes to terms with what Sin is. They've moved on technologically. Even if Sin really does send the world back into a panic, society evolved. Sin would have a weight to him but they wouldn't be the same. It would make more sense if they introduced another villain instead. It probably is that whoever wished for Sin back is the villain, for whatever reason.
It looks like Yuna and Tidus aren't really apart, not really together kind of thing. It's confused because Yuna is too passive and Tidus is a moron, which is pretty consistent with their characters and I guess if you are going to go with "they aren't together anymore" that's one way to do it.

I agree to a new book or new medium via films or a series is fine, I would love to see Spira in a mini series format but come on man...Breaking the couple up after we grinded so hard to get them together. Square treats our efforts in vain mannnnn.

As much as I do not want a third game, now that there IS new content, I want it to be a game instead of books, etc. I just think their games are quite better than their books and if I am to know the story, I would enjoy it better through a game.

am really annoyed with this news... Tidus and Yuna no longer together (wtf was the point of x-2 then god damn it!) Sin is back? HUH didnt we kill that thing in the first game (first game now pointless lol)....why have they done this lol.
I think it is save to say by the end of this x-3 (when it happens) Tidus/Yuna will be together again for sure (repeat of the first game am guessing, they will slowly fall back into full lovers again..if not then maybe they will finally kill of tidus for good LOL) but yeah the whole point of of the first two games just became a little less inportant lol.
Oh and about the FF7 remake /-2.....that will only happen when sqaure have no other choice or are in such bad debts that they need to make some quick cash lol.
