I've noticed this a while back, but keep forgetting to comment: I like how the quest descriptions when you look at them in the list can at least sometimes be quite patronising of the client :P.

Got Ramuh and am in the water on the lower east side of the third island now. Can only do three story / exploration things a sitting due to energy depletion though. Sucks if you got missions where you got to kill 10 rare monsters or materials and some times zero turn up.

fuck me, it's not for my phone. I had an Android a few months ago, but broke it, and my hubby convinced me to get a Window phone as the replacement, da bastard. xD

Looks like I'm getting another phone this Christmas. :P

O__O

I'm still only on the second island and only have Siren!

This game had maintenance for like 9 hours today. Afterward I play and am chuffed I get 1000 lapis for that lost time *addicted*, as it would take 20 days to acquire by daily quests alone. Having saved 5000 lapis, I decide to buy the 11 rare summon deal with it... and as I press the confirm button the game says "emergency maintenance for at least 2 hours". FUCK :P. So now I am hoping 5000 didn’t just go down the sink.

^It didn't, fortunately, so I got my 11 rare summons :P.

All up now, I have 49 unique characters. 20 have their levels already maxed out. I've got five teams going, and I've individually named them (an actual in-game option). My OP team is called "The Fear" for example, because I am lame :awesome:. All characters in my 5 teams are not maxed out characters, because I'm levelling them all up, trying to get awakening 'chieves and what not (if you get all the awards in each category you get lots of Lapis, the in-game hard-to-get money/credit thing). I suspect I am powerful enough to at least take on the White Dragon in the Farplane, according to various online guides, but am still too scared :awesome:. Grinding my OP team is taking forever, so I think I'll prefer levelling up the weaker guys, and wait til another island is released or something. My 5 summons are all in their lower 20s. Grinding for magicite to level them is annoyingly slow going (as with everything else), which is why I like the relevant vortex quest events, two of which have occurred since I got the game. Wish they'd occur more often :P.

Just started playing Exvius last night after having it on my phone since the day it was released.

It's a cute little game. Definitely one of the best mobile games I've seen in a while. The music is fantastic as well.

Dirnado (...they really didn't think that name through, did they) will be available after this week's routine maintenance. Woohoo.

I should have said Part 1 of Dirnado. I'm guessing the rest will be released next month. Anyways, I've now got 58 characters, 29 of which have been currently maxed out (as in they are apparently adding extra awakening levels to some in future). I have Kefka and Amarant, the current best magic attack and tank in the game according to the wiki. I have Artemios, the 4th best physical attack; Roselia, the 3rd best healer; and Fina, the 3rd best support (though that's not much of a brag, given you get her during the story). I also have Exdeath, Tellah, and Golbez, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best magic attack folk. I'm pretty loaded with good characters, but I wish I had more physical attackers and tanks... and pretty much everything else :P.

Currently grinding to level characters and summons. Can't be arsed doing these weekly special quests to get powerful weapons and armour, because it is pretty much impossible to get them without spending lapis / real world dollars :P. I'm not that gullible :awesome:.

Think I'm up to 63 unique characters now, and got a few more maxed out. I've killed two super bosses (for lack of better terminology) in the farscape, and could probably beat Intangir if I played strategically (I easily brought it down to half HP, and then it killed me with a single meteor spell :P).

As for where I said I can't be arsed about doing the weekly special quests, as it turns out, I'm doing pretty good with the current Lands of Plenty one. Just grinding away in the pro level. The three boss battles are needlessly tedious, and due to their high DEF and HP, can make a single play of the level take forever. Sure, make bosses difficult, but make 'em die fast, ffs :awesome:. I'm not timing it, but it feels like it takes 30 minutes to an hour. I have to do the pro level 7-8 times to get the amount of unique cavern ore I need to craft the weapon I'm after, as it is only available in the quest (I've done it 5 times so far). I have around 2-3 day to get it done, but I should have it done tomorrow. I'll then have to grind fucking forever to get the other ore I need. Here's what I mean:

1. 5 copper ores = Broad sword.
2. 5 broad swords + 15 copper ores + 10 lumber = Fine Blade.
3. 6 fine blades + 30 copper ores + 40 lumber = Superior Blade.
4. 3 Superior blades + 80 cavern ores + 80 iron ores + 80 silver ores + 50 mythril ores = Shining Splendor.

I'm nearing all the ore I need for the Shining Splendor (only need about 30 cavern ore, got the rest), but got a long way to go in collecting lumber and copper ore for the earlier swords. I'll probably be lucky to get 5 pieces of lumber or copper ore at most per exploration... so yeah. That sword better be worth it. I don't want for another chapter in the story to have an easy-to-collect sword that makes this one obsolete :P.

What a waste of time. I could be re-learning basic mathematics for kids in the Khan Academy app, damn it.

Still playing this. Gotta say I like the summon levelling system and skill tree. Reminds me a little of FFVIII. The sixth star awakening thing is just about to be released, and given the increasing difficulty of the colosseum, events, and super boss battles, seems rather timely. Finding it hard to get rare characters with good stats too. Namely, recent released characters that now rank the best in the game.

- I now have 74 unique characters, 39 maxed out.
- I defeated the Vortex super boss, Intangir, today, which gave me a very nice sword.
- Having difficulty with the Brachiosaur super boss, also of the Vortex. My spell casters are shit apparently. Might stand a better chance once I level up Vaan and/or Celes, both of which I have good buff abilities.
- There's currently an FFIV themed event, the ELT level of which I'm not even going to bother with, given I was lucky to beat the PRO level. Fortunately the PRO level has the best reward of the event, so I already got that.
- Reached and am seemingly stuck at the Advanced A-1 Colosseum boss fight today. Once again, shit spell caster issue. EDIT: False alarm.
- I have the best tank currently in the game (Cecil), but have yet to level him up, so I'm sure he'll help out at some point in the distant future :P.
- Utterly failing in getting any good physical attack characters. My best don't even rank in the top 5 any more. EDIT: Just got Lightning, current best physical attack damage in game. Woot.
- I should pay more attention to the Japanese release schedule, so I can think ahead of who to max level next, so I can have them upgraded just in time for their International 6* level release. CBA :monster:.

I decided to give a brutally honest soundtrack review :awesome:. It doesn't all suck, but most of the songs are pretty average, imo.
Disc 1:
1. Melody of recall: Nice piano and violins, which I think successfully does what the song title suggests. 4/5.
2. To the Horizon: Fairly clichéd, almost cringe-worthy, "epic journey" music. 2/5.
3. Into the Labyrinth: Nice flute tune with accompaniment to listen to, fairly average though. 3/5.
4. Duel: Average battle music, no personality. 2.5/5.
5. Victory's Fanfare: Standard FF victory fanfare, nothing extraordinary. 2.5/5.
6. Peaceful Village: Captures the scene well enough, nothing great though. 3/5.
7. Not of this world: Half of this I wouldn't even call a song, interesting alien background sound effects though. 2.5/5.
8. Rain in Forest: No personality. 2/5.
9. The Ancient Life: Nice melody in this one. Good beginning and middle, ends bad. 4/5.
10. The initiation: Forgot what scene(s) this played to, but sounds clichéd. 2.5/5.
11. Mountain valley: JRPG overload, hints of electronic stuff, bleurgh. Doesn't even match the feel of the title. 1/5.
12. Supreme mission: Okay "build-up" music. 3/5.
13. Devided we fall: Lots of potential in this piece, but does little for me otherwise. 3/5.
14. The Emergency: Fairly average "Oh no, something has gone wrong" music. 2.5/5.
15. Onslaught: I think this is pretty good boss battle music. 4/5.
16. The suspicion: Lacks content, but very atmospheric and evocative, which is the kind of thing I'm biased to. 3.5/5.
17. The walkabout: I grind on a level with this music... almost sick of hearing it :P. Not bad though, I guess. 3/5.
18. Overcome the Menace: Once again, okay "build-up" music 3/5.
19. Tree of tale: I like this song. Probably ends weak though. 4/5.
20. One More Dance: Has a certain charm to it. 3.5/5.
21. Prelude: Standard FF prelude. Impossible to do wrong, really. 4/5.

Disc 2:
1. Great voyage: meh "epic journey" music. 2.5/5.
2. State of grace: Before looking at the song title, I thought "this is very graceful", so they got that on point. 3/5.
3. The oath: Booooring. It's like really bad movie credits music. 2/5.
4. Snowdrop: Pleasant, but fairly average. 3/5.
5. Joie de vivre: This song grew on me, strangely. One of my favourite tunes on the soundtrack. 4.5/5.
6. Mirage palace: Clichéd ancient egyptian music with orchestral touch. 2.5/5.
7. Sacred Ground: I think this is the summon theme. Doesn't do much for me. 2/5.
8. Amigo De Chocobo: The whistling is funny, but I don't think I can give an honest critique of chocobo music that is in itself not honest. :P/5.
9. Antiquities: Spacey electronic giant scientific laboratory labyrinth music, fits the scene. 4/5.
10. The Imperial capital: Fairly clichéd majestic-sounding stuff. Sounds very similar to a tune in SO3, actually, methinks. 2.5/5.
11. Shadow of doubt: There's a nice feel to this song. Evocative, etc. 3.5/5.
12. Mystic Ruins: Decent music. Nothing amazing. 3/5.
13. The Ghostship: I reckon some of these bad songs would have more personality in midi form :P. 2/5.
14. Secrets in her eyes: Pretty dull. 2/5.
15. Nothing's in vain: Sounds fitting to the title. Sad music, screechy pleading violins "hey, cheer up!". 3/5.
16. Odyssey: Probably my favourite of the "epic journey" musics so far in this soundtrack. 3.5/5.
17. Force and furious: Another summon theme? *forgets*. Doesn't work for me. 2/5.
18. End is Nigh: Pipe organ music. Don't think I've encountered this yet. Ominous! Nothing great. 2/5.
19. Celestial Battle: Major boss music again, or something. I like it, but not as good as onslaught. 3.5/5.
20. Trimuph of Destiny: Happy ever after music. Slightly more exciting bad movie credits music. 2.5/5.
21. Final Fantasy: Standard FF theme music. Again, hard to make bad. The choir doesn't sit well with me though. 4/5.

Still playing this :p. I now have 110 unique characters with 54 maxed out. Still having difficulty getting high attack stat characters. Of top 5, I only got two (Lightning and Chizuru). Spending a ton of summon tickets and lapis on rare summon trying to get Noctis while there is still a higher chance to receive him... but have only got everyone but Noctis :awesome:

I sat on the can today fiddling with this and I discovered that I'm already at the end of the short story bit :monster:.

Oh and I used them summon tickets and got Noctis. go me.

@Yop: Did you do Charlotte's missions? If so, you could spend time levelling up characters in the vortex, but I dunno how much time you want to sink into it. More story happens with each month. I think there is story updates until May, iirc.

I've been using https://exviuswiki.com/ as a guide for all that. Lots of quests and stuff don't exactly jump out at you. Some require talking to people in order, or just happening to find barely visible glittery shit in exploration maps :P. I don't have the time to hug walls to try and find hidden items and passageways, so yeah, I just use that website.

With summons, I'd recommend only using their assigned colour-coded gem when leveling them up.

Ghost, what has it been about this game that's really grabbed you? You've been more enthusiastic about it than with other stuff here lately.

Lol. It's an addictive and a convenient time sink, kind of like an FF version of FarmVille (which I don't play >.>). I don't actually think much of it. Nothing particularly outstanding. I'm unable to play other games because I'm probably the poorest TLS member of the board at the moment :monster:. This game is free, etc.
