ERSB confirmed Final Fantasy IV The After Years (AKA Final Fantasy IV The After: Tsuki no Kikan) to the US, when they rated it as E for Everyone. The game will be released on Wii (probably Wiiware) according to ERSB, but there's no release date or anything else.
If it follows the path of Crystal Defenders, it may have a PNS/XBLA release also.

Hmm, after the FFIV remake, it would make more sense if they released it in the DS.

But at least it's coming to the West. :monster:

Wow this is great news!

Finally some Wii ware worth getting.

This makes Before Crisis coming to the US a lot more likely.

ugh. I would have been ok with a DS release, but Im not getting it unless it comes to PSN. Im not buying the utter crap that is the Wii. Shovelware and minigame horribleness galore.

I'm glad it's for Wii since Sony still cba to implement a points system for their store and I'm not getting a credit card. I'm pretty sure it'll be out for PSN and XBlah as well though.

Anyway. Download this shit. Show them that people actually are interested in those sort of titles so we might get Before Crisis too. :monster:

Although this might even be more fun. Or not.
...are there any reviews for this game? :duhard:

Re: ERSB confirms Final Fantasy IV The After Years to the US

Considering FFIV is probably one of my top FF's right there with FFVII, I'm heavily biased and think FFIV- The After's story is extremely awesome for a sequel. It gives a fresh new story without rehashing the previous plot..but it also balances a good bit of nostalgia and familiar faces, having different characters involved in their own unique storylines before finally reuniting at the end to take out the final antagonist.

As for Before Crisis, I want that game. So bad. I think a lot of people discount it because of its lack of release here but from what I've gathered it has a really great storyline that let's you see the world of FFVII through the morally conflicted eyes of a Turk.

One thing I like about Before Crisis is that you get to see more of the FFVII world than you do in other Compilation titles like DC or Crisis Core. You visit almost every single previous location, you can get all the materia that was available in FFVII, you can pull off sweet materia combos, and you interact with pretty much all of the main characters of FFVII which is awesome. And the materia creation system is pretty fun too. By using the camera in a phone, you can take pictures of things, and based on the dominant hue of the picture and other factors, it gives you a materia. It really stands up on its own as a stand alone action rpg game.

what.

The Wii, in my opinion, is garbage. Maybe 2 games on the entire thing I think are actually worth the money they cost. The majority of the games are just downgraded ports or minigame bundles that are highly overcharged for.

And PSN does have somewhat of a point system. You can buy playstation cards that can be used instead of putting in a credit card number.

Re: ERSB confirms Final Fantasy IV The After Years to the US

I highly disagree. The only thing that would make me buy a wii is a major FF, a major KH title, or something of that sort.

I dont hate Nintendo, just the crap games on the Wii and the console itself. The DS is another story though. It has alot of good games, though it does have some alot of crap too. But it's good games outweigh them.

Agreed, the Wii isn't all that great, the Wiimote craze wore off after a while and became tiresome.

However, this is good news about FFIV.

But whatever happened to the Crystal Chronicles game that was supposed to be coming out? It has just seemed to disappear.

Can WiiWare be downloaded to a DSi?

Not that I own either, I'm just curious after the mention of the DS.

Whoa, for a second I didn't realize you were serious. But you're serious?

The After's plot is a huge recycling, Mako.

*SPOILERS*

-Dark Knight Cecil vs. Paladin Cecil is reused as Evil Kain vs. Kain... and then later Dark Knight Cecil vs. Paladin Cecil is itself reused
-The quest to become a Paladin-like being is reused in Kain, though that one's actually to be expected
-The main body of the plot involves trying to keep the crystals away from a mysterious villain while losing on every occasion. Again
-The mysterious villain supplants the king of Baron with an imposter and uses the Red Wings to wage war. Again
-The mysterious villain uses mind control on an old ally to make them fight you. Kain the first time, Cecil this time (he and Cecil basically just traded roles for this game); and, actually, because Evil Kain's running around helping the mysterious villain, they literally reused that plot point
-Rosa gets kidnapped by Evil Kain again
-The mysterious villain is actually just a puppet and is closely related to a member of the party. Cecil's brother the first time, a clone of Rydia this time
-The mysterious villain joins forces with the party to battle the true enemy. Golbez did it the first time, Minus this time
-The puppet master of the mysterious villain is an extraterrestrial egotist who sees the inhabitants of the blue planet as unworthy to live; this extraterrestrial egotist also lives inside the other fucking moon; holy fucking shit, get some new ideas, Tokita!

Ahem. Sorry for the spiel, but goddamn. They even brought back Rubicante and the other three elemental bosses. And Zeromus, for a couple minutes.

But, yeah, there's a wider cast of playable characters this time around. So that's new. But "awesome"? Really, Mako? You weren't being sarcastic?

Well. Okay. To each their own.

Honestly, the only thing I consider awesome about it is the artwork. That's absolutely made of win.
