So when Cid says (it is Cid speaking there, right?) 'Lady Luck don't fail me now', I believe he's referring to the Highwind, not a Goddess of some sort.
Lady luck sounds to me like a localisation. A goddess and a lady are 2 very different things and the Japanese is specific.
