Dude I had this problem with Metal Gear long before I played Uncharted to death.

Snake gets berated and badgered constantly on what to do, how to do it, and where to do it. It's non-stop, and Snake just takes it all blankly occasionally repeating what someone said to him in question form, because there's just no way that a vet like Snake would know these things.

I'm sorry, but what else are you supposed to call someone like that? I mean, you really can excuse all of that because you like a character and don't want to insult them?

I mean, I love Snake but....he's not very smart. Whether he's like that because of a videogame/anime/whatever trope is irrelevant, you can't dismiss that because it suits you.

I didn't excuse it in his case; it is more than a bit "wtf" for him to variously have the inside track on some shit and also be completely clueless about how a weapon or device might work. I still think he doesn't come across as challenged as this girl, even while Metal Gear is filled with its own idiosyncrasies.

Maybe it's because of how badass we're expected to view him otherwise.

Offtopic: Snake has the excuse of being the avatar for the player, at least for me. How else can you shoot a bunch of guards with tranqs, hold up more for dog tags, but not know the damn mushrooms taste like crap. Also MGS plot = Hideo Kojima. It is what it is.

Ontopic: A lot of times when I look at sequel games, I ask if the sequel stands on its own merit, outside the continuity of the story? and I don't know if I can see that with XIII-2. All this talk of time paradoxes, multiple endings, and character death/crystallization, it smells a bit of a fill in the plot type experience. It could be absolutely gorgeous and play like a dream, but if the narrative thread is really as tenuous as it seems ...

Fuck it.

Final Fantasy XIII-3: Lightning becomes Goddess, rides her horsey back through time and
face fucks Ballad guy with Lance of Longinus. Time paradoxes resolved, but not before Serah becomes zombie and eats flesh of Snow, Hope, and Noel. Lightning shrugs and says "can't win 'em all" and proceeds to explicit shower scene with Fang and Vanille.

Well, it's downloaded quickly so that's good. I had a lot of work and haven't been able to play it before now! So far, the 10 minutes I've done are looking much better as a game than the original game, which wasn't bad... as a game.

One thing has relieved me, though. XIII-2 wasn't sounding so exciting, but at the moment when I started playing, I found myself excited about it, and I've found out I still have the "RPG-element" within me, and I "found out" I will still like to spend time with this. I wasn't motivated about new games because I have not much time, so I was a bit worried that I could end up going "I don't have time, won't buy them". Fortunately, it seems it won't happen

I played a little bit, unfortunately it got cut short. ; I'll probably play more of it tonight. So far my opinion is that the battle system is pretty cool and fun, Mog's voice is fucking annoying, and uh... yeah that's pretty much it for now, lol.

Yes, it's been discussed. I hated it at first but after seeing the chocobo-riding-in-action (that incorporates the song) - it's fitting. Still, it's not a favorite of mine. Though, also as stated in not-so-many-terms, I think we've got a new Chocobo themed pseudo-insult from it.

The interviews talk about why they made the ending what it is (site doesn't say, because. yeah. they expect people to buy it and all), and talks about how in addition to the main game (Serah & Noel's chapter), they're making stories for each character, like Lightning, Snow, Sazh.

I think he was saying that the site says the Ultimanias tell us, but the site doesn't tell us what the Ultimanias say because they want us to buy the books. But I'm sure the info will come along soon.
