Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Spoiler Thread)

Well that answered nothing.

I do like how in the end everything came back to Lightning and Serah's relationship, something that actually lacked in the game despite being the core plot point.

It reinforces my dislike of the ending just because it contradicts the spirit of XIII's ending and really, its whole game. Lightning didn't have a plan, and it really was shit meeting the fan.

Also, ending has Lightning awakening again, so XIII-3 is inevitable. I'm not sure who actually didn't think there would be a new ending but there you go.

Does anyone know yet (or is it somewhere) what happens in Snow's DLC? I'm really curious but I probably won't be able to buy the DLC for a while.

I'm internet, but besides that the dlc is really short.

Kind of.

It's two battles but it's set up so that you actually have to level up to win. You die>get cp>unlock new roles>rinse and repeat. It's an interesting way to get address only fighting as one character that's not your main in your group.

I'D TELL YOU IF HE WOULD STOP ONE SHOTING MY PARTY.

His sovereign fist will kill all your group in one hit, no exceptions. Full hp, protectaga, sensensen. The trick is to force him to fight other characters and that will prevent sovereign fist but I can't get it down right.

Ohhh yes! Going to download!

EDIT: I knew it was odd, since I checked it earlier today and there was nothing... damn EU PSN, it's not there... and of course, its updates are on wednesdays midday. :(

I finally beat Snow. Yeah it isn't hard, not as hard as I find Gilgamesh. It's just really tricky to get your system down so I just die more >___>

It's just a battle like the rest.

Snow says there is something that won't let him go and there is dark energy around him. And Serah sees Yuel in the dark cloud stuff. She says she will wait, but if she's tired of waiting, she's going to come get him herself. If there's an epsidoe, dunno where it would be.

Fuck. :wallbanger:

Do we get a name on the fal'Cie who branded Snow?

Unless I skipped that part no.

I turned it off as soon as I beat his battle, but I'm pretty sure there's... no real answer to anything. I don't think there's anything afterwards either. That said Valfodr/Arbiter of Time was incredibly easy so I heard you could fight a stronger version of him.

Also Yuel is getting some creepy time in this dlc. Yuel says creepy ominous stuff to Lightning but that could be written off as Caius messing around with Lightning's head.

But I don't get the same dark cloud surrounding and forcing Snow to stay at the coliseum being around Yuel.

Well, if I remember correctly cause I only heard it once,

it was something to the effect that Serah was like her, that they suffer the same fate, and that Serah- like Yuel- will die when the world ends and it's all Lightning's fault.

Somebody will probably correct if I got that wrong. But it sounded weirdly possessive.

Lightning in this episode is a bit emotionally broken, she feels guilty and Serah dying because she set her on her journey really gets to her. The real vision of Serah says she regrets nothing no matter what happens, but only asks Lightning to remember her. Lightning says the one thing she will do is preserve her memory, goes on Etro's throne and crystalizes because it's the one way she knows the memory will never die in a world of chaos.

Then something to the effect that she hopes this memory may one day bring Serah's spirit to her, and if they have one more moment she could be with her, then she would have nothing left to wish for.

Credits, then Lightning says, this is where she crystalized, and then it was where she awoke much later.

I think... level 7? 8? I probably could have done it sooner but I made some stupid mistakes

Caius has got two levels, the first one is easy, you'll probably defeat him once you unlock your first synergist level.

You need to 5 star his battle in order to get the second battle. And then you need to 5 star that battle (which was actually pretty easy once you don't die constantly).

The first level is just a stagger>kill. The one thing you need to remember is to switch to knight when he goes to commando and snaps his fingers.

Second Bahamut mode you can damage him without staggering but it helps. He's susceptible to COM attack in his bird/flight mode.

And when you unlock your sab role, use them if you manage to stagger Caius.
I wanted to hug Lightning ;_; I am to emotionally invested in the Farrons.
There were parts of this dlc I didn't like mostly because of my high expectations, but I really felt for the Farron sisters here.

It's sad because it's obvious they would go to the ends of the earth for each other and they kind of do, and Lightning just feels kind of broken. At least that's my interpretation.

I really like how at the end of everything, it's really all about Lightning and Serah and how much they love each other. I'm like TEARSTEARS I will reunite you bastards if I have to bludgeon every Squeenix employee over the head with my almost tangible feels.

EDIT:

Now everyone is theorizing that Yuel is evil now. Or Lindzei/Muin. I don't buy it but there's definitely something weird going on with her.

Everything, everyone, will melt into the darkness, including Serah, including Lightning.

Around 4:30 is the scene.

Is it just me, or did they phone this DLC in? I guess I shouldn't have expected a whole lot, but people were expecting Lightning's episode to rock harder than anything else. It didn't.

I'm playing the Lightning DLC now. I'm currently at level 7 and I just 3 starred the first battle, which is the best I've done yet. I think I'm forming a good strategy here though, so I'm hoping to get through (and by that I mean 5 star) this first battle before I call it a night.

I'm really disappointed with FFXIII-2. :( I'm sorry, I've got to come clean.

The ending sucks, and unless XIII-3 - if there is to be a XIII-3 - fixes everything...

Don't get me wrong - there are a few good things. Battle improvements are good.

*has read nothing in this thread* HOWEVER:

The Owner of the Casino of Serendipity says this (in regards to Noel taking the fragments they found there):

So long as everyone keeps the memory of other people in their hearts, they do not truly disappear, NO MATTER WHAT.

If that's not a hint, I dunno what is.

Yuel can't be evil! :(

I actually like Yuel quite a bit, strangely.

Damn it, today's the busiest day of the week for me, and I HAVE to play the DLC...!!

Ahaha I must be slow or something because I think I finally get what the promotional images and tag lines finally mean. What they put out originally ties more into the dlc than it does into the actual game. I never thought about it until tumblr.

The very first images and hints we get that there was ever going to be a XIII-2 was the tag line

She must not be forgotten. This fits better with Lightning promising to never forget Serah than the other way around.

Oh and also the promotional cgi and the face of lightning as she sits on Etro's throne (found on tumblr)

I think "She must not be forgotten" fits both Lightning and Serah. First Lightning, with how she just disappeared and everyone but Serah forgot her; then, Serah's death and Lightning's resolve to basically return the favor, never allowing Serah to be forgotten.

There was an additional cutscene after the whole thing going down in Valhalla...

Seems Lightning winds up in 700 AF in Noel's time...though I don't really know what that portends to.

......but it did make me think of something.

If all this stuff happened in the past...as in, only Lightning remained...does that mean she's like an Eidolon?

Does anyone remember the "backstory" to getting the Odin Magicite in Final Fantasy VI?...and how you could turn Odin into "Raiden" (The God of Thunder btw)...with a woman's tears.

...I'm wondering if this is a mirror of that story....

Everything, everyone, will melt into the darkness, including Serah, including Lightning.

Around 4:30 is the scene.

I watched those scenes and I have a theory: What if those aren't the real Yuel? Is not like her to be so creepy and cruel, for what I've seen in the game and, the only time she actually gave me the shivers was when she talked to Serah directly for the last time in the Void Beyond, and that wasn't Yeul at all, but an illusion created by Caius.

What if Caius was just f*cking up Lightning's mind to weaken her and kick her ass?

And one question, if anyone could please answer me: For what I watched, I understand that, when one dies within the Void Beyond or Valhalla, he or she doesn't actually die, since life and death don't have any meaning, but falls into a dream where his/her heart's desire come true (whatever they might be). And said illusion never ends until the dreamer realizes that it's a dream and rejects it, waking up again. Am I wrong with this?
