It's also the only decent theme from what I've heard. Everything else is a very annoying mish-mash of pieces that seem to have been randomly selected with no thought to any coherent whole.
I haven't played the game, but damn the music is easily its weakest part.

...that so-called "Chocobo Theme Remix" is a fucking travesty. I am almost willing to bet money on the scenario that somebody in Square thought:
"Hmm, how do we make this game appeal to a western audience? I know! Make a metal remix! Those filthy foreigners like Metallica and all that jazz. Let's try to do that but with more extreeeme."

True but I think that it's suppose to be. The music when you ride a chocobo is actually normal if not boring.
There is a problem with terrible lyrics and rap though. The fight with Snow as your guest? It plays rap as well, I lold through it.
I'm not a fan of how they do their ost, splitting up composers and relying heavily on pop groups. I hate pop vocals in general, Sunleth would have been better without it. But they were like, Hey people liked Dust to dust and Sunleth Waterscape lets GIVE ALL THESE VOCALS, also rap. I had no idea where they got rap from.

A Chocobo theme is meant to express the following: How fun it is to ride one of those feathery creatures.
There is nothing fun, cutesy or exciting about the XIII-2 iteration of the theme. There is hilarity, yes, because a guy is singing about riding chocobos like it was a METAL thing to do.
So not only does it sound bad to my ears, but it does not resonate with the image of what chocobos are all about.
This can be forgiven if they choose to barely use this remix during actual gameplay, but it still sounds off.

They don't use it as the chocobo theme. The chocobo theme that plays when you ride a chocobo is actually kinda boring.
You get the theme when you ride the red chocobo, which is apparently a tremendous pain in the ass to ride. Actually I have yet to see someone ride the red chocobo so I don't know much about it.
So I guess what I was trying to sum up is
1. That song is an atrocity
2. It's not the chocobo theme that plays when you ride a chocobo
3. The OST is mixed, a lot of songs are great, but the vocal songs they went overboard and are shitty.

Sorry, I should have paid more attention.But that's what I was saying.
I will also admit to becoming needlessly pissed off earlier. Due to Square's failures, it is easy to feel on edge and to interpret their poor design choices as a personal offense. The rift between Japanese and non-Japanese gamers/culture/game-designers is also an issue that, albeit a real one, I obsess too much and become extremely frustrated with.
