Thought this subject would be an interesting topic to pick people’s brains on. Since the time between the PS3 to PS4 and PS4 to PS5 were both about exactly 7 years each (give or take a few days to a week), it’s a fair guesstimate that the PS6 could very well come out during the last two months of 2027.

So my question is, regardless of how many parts total you think the Remake project will be, what year do you think the final Remake installment will be released in? (and what Sony platform/generation will be the first to get it?)

Currently my guess would be 2028 being the year the final Remake part comes out.

I'm not playing that game, it will depends heavily on how they tackle Part 2 I guess and where it stops. They will definitely reuse assets though, which should make the latter part(s) easier to release.

2030 but still available on the ps5.

I know technology growth snowballs but theres got to be a limit to what consoles can do and what they costs.

Graphics are getting to a point where if they improve much more the human eye wont be able to even notice the improvements. I read that you cant detect the difference between 8k and 4k if you are further any 5'(1.5m). Who sits that close to a tv?(i know a computer monitor is much closer)

I would to think the ps5 might hang around a little longer than the previous consoles. We know it will get a storage uapgrade and im sure it will get a ps5 "pro" edition with some kind of improvement. But how much farther can they go before it gets to expensive for the general population to afford?

On my recent OG playthrough which i pick up here and there i noticed something. There is a house in wutai that you can enter where an elderly man thinks he knows you but his grand daughter corrects him and tell hims we are just some strangers that walked in. Its funny how this stood out to me so much this time and made me think about how unrealistic it is to be able to enter avy house with no confrontation.

This could be used to help keep towns look big but be less demanding of time and resources.

My concern is not even about the human limit of things. 360Hz to 240 is already slim improvements at best but we know there are a group of buyers for that. The problem is that other technology has to catch up too. 8K TVs are expensive, and streaming 8K images? Good luch with that. Gb/s will have to be the budget standard. Storage will have to go at much higher levels, without becoming too expensive. It just becomes too much of a hurdle for the short time.

There are also talks that PS5 and XSX won't function like previous consoles, and will just receive regular upgrades to it. I don't know the practicality of that, but it's sure something that the big companies are thinking about.

I kind of wonder if there is going to be some VR tipping point within the next decade or so. Which makes me wonder if one of these will be VR.
VR Gold Saucer minigames.

2027, and then a next-gen release that compiles all of the games
But would such release also be a new remake to make them graphically coherent?

That’s honestly not such a bad idea. It makes it so that they won’t have to develop the entire game for VR, but anyone who has VR could have an option for the GC. Though, I’d still wonder if they’d view it as a worthy investment of development time. I don’t know how hard it is to VRify something to begin with.

VR chocobo races and snowboarding ermegerd.

Well, they'd have to make both standard third-person and first-person VR versions of minigames.
I don't think that would be that much work unless game-mechanics had to be vastly different for each other.
But if it is their first time doing VR they could be having some problems...

Thinking about the snowboard and G-bike minigames... Maybe those would be too intense for VR? VR and speed don't go along well.

I wonder if the speed thing will get easier as the tech develops

I’m assuming something along the lines of releasing them as a bundle or like a collection in which each game is still separate from one another and you pick each game from a menu...I guess they could update the visuals if they felt it necessary but I do wonder how much of a graphical difference it’ll be by the time we get to the end

I think Part I was really important to decide gameplay mechanics that (mostly) will keep the same line. That is, the ATB system, Weapon, etc etc. Design philosophy and scenario writing were also really important. Part II has a big-ass responsability: the Overworld. Pretty much, the major space and mechanic we are going to localized in for the rest of the series. Later Parts seem, at least, to look much easier than these first two.

Huh... So that means..

2022 will be the 25th Anniversary of FFVII.

They're definitely going to do something special with that.

That might be when they announce Part 2, and try to release it either at the end of the year or beginning of 2023. But they're not gonna skip that significant date.

If it's 3 parts, I see it being one of the final large games to come out on ps5. 4 parts, def into the ps6 cycle

If it is only 3, then I think they'd do an "Ultimate Edition" (that included all three parts) and release that on ps6
