How can you enjoy this game?

You just need to keep going up, there's more wires you can climb and you're almost at the top. I still really don't know whether you're taking the piss or not, but I'm glad to see you're attempting to go further.

....I'm dying to see how you handle the Shinra Building.

I'm now in the Shinra Building, i get caught by some guards, and now i have to fight a pair of Space Marine like robots. I Beat them, but i can;t move on. Instead, Barret scolds me and now have to do some stealth, something FFVII is not optimized/optimised for.

Now excuse me i'm going to play Titanfall.

I always have extreme problems with the stealth.

I was streaming VII a few weeks ago, and this kid was in my stream (the one who yelled 'YOU'RE A GIRL???!!' in the chat when I started talking) and when I did the jumping thing without much effort (me: 'I remember this as being hard so excuse me if this takes a while, I've only done it once before', him: 'yeah it's pretty hard take your time but I know you can do it, I have faith in you because I am awesome and have faith in pathetic girl players' (he didn't say that but it kind of shone through)) he was kind of like... disappointed that I didn't have much trouble, because he always did.

Ah, teenage boys in my stream.

usually if you move when the guards move you're fine.

Or if you fight them enough times they disappear. I'll be honest I used to struggle with the stealth bit too.

I'm sorry, but i'm sick and tired of that frustrating as all hell stealth section. Would have been nice bashing at least the whole first disc!

Dude, you don't even have to be successful at that stealth section. After failing a few times and killing all the guards, the game proceeds.

But i don't want to play that section multiple times, wasting HP, MP and items in the process.

You're thinking about it all negatively. It's grinding that you won't need to do later;).

It's honestly not that hard once you time it right and just move when the guards do, time yourself to run when they run if you watch them a little bit before trying to move you'll find it easier to move.

I think one answer is that this was the RPG that put the genre on everybody's mind outside Japan.

What you said is extremely heretical, JRPG's such as The Legend of Zelda and Phantasy star were already popular in the west.

eeeeeehhhhhhh Zelda doesn't really count since it's an action-RPG. And FFVII was the first big JRPG hit in Europe too.

Also HTML doesn't work in posts, do

How dare you contradict yourself. Too many fanbots and heretics in this thread.

For God's sake, you weren't even alive at the time, much less playing games or able to recall how well-known RPGs were before FFVII versus after.

Yeah, some people knew about "Phantasy Star," the same way some people already knew "Final Fantasy" (some of them had been released outside Japan already, remember?) -- but FFVII was the title that put RPGs on the map as a significant genre worldwide. Before that, fighting games got most of the attention in the U.S. and stuff like the Mario and Sonic games got almost all the rest.

I can't speak to what it was like in Europe or other places, but I'd bet my whole bank account that RPGs weren't mainstream there before FFVII.

Also, "heretical"? The fuck are they teaching you kids in school these days?

Unless he wants it to die, in which case we keep it alive, you see:muhaha:? JK. My life would be no poorer if this thread did just die.
