Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX.

I loved the three of them. The story, the characters, the battle system, the music, the worlds themselves are all top-notch, in my opinion.

Those were three games that marked me as a gamer in a very positive way.

My favourite characters, not only from the FF saga, but from all media in general, came from these games.

But, given the option of choosing only one, i would go with FFIX.

I don't know why, but IX simply seems more..complete. Everything is so well put together...it just seems that S-E picked up the best of each FF game and put it in this game.

FFIX is not my personal favorite, it is a close second to FFVII, but of all the FFs I have played this one feels best in terms of gameplay, technology and story. The game makes very good use of the playstation capabilities and the battle system makes battles a bit more challenging than in the two previous games.
The story is very fleshed out and each character feels special, even the NPCs.

Do note that I have only played FFVI-FFIX. I plan to play the earlier games at some point in the future.

I don't think I can specify, but my favourites would be FFVII, IX, XII, and to a lesser extent - X.

Aw man I can't decide. VII, IX, X...

Well, probably more between VII and X...

:/

I gotta give it to FF7, but 6, 9, 10, and Tactics all get honorable mentions. Its impossible for me to order them after 7, but all of them have been incredible gaming experiences and would be enough to make me a fan of this series on their own.

I voted for VI, btw, but IX would be a close second, probably followed by V. I still haven't played several entries in the series; at this rate, I'm not even sure I'm ever going to.

And of course I voted VII, the original game. :P

But XII is very good too; the only thing is that the storyline is kind of convoluted.

IX is not bad; but, I am not as entranced with its storyline as with VII and XII.

I haven't played any of the others. X has been recommended, but I have not tried to find the game (yet?).

FFVII gets my vote too. Like a lot of others it was my first one and was what got me into the series.

There was always so much to discover in that game and the storyline was really good too (once I was old enough to enjoy it that is).

I voted for Crisis Core, because its the last FF game I really liked.

My other favs are III, IV, VII (of cooourse!) and Im already in love with Versus XIII though dont know a crap about its battle system, but the story must be epic ;)

Final Fantasy IV is my all-time favorite, and it was the first in the series that I played. The DS remake is a bit of a disappointment, though, and seeing Cecil and Golbez in Dissidia makes me wish it'd been on the PSP instead.

Final Fantasy IX follows as my second favorite, purely because of it's tone and style.

Final Fantasy VII falls in behind that at third, and the main reason is that there's so much room for discussion, even all these years later.

Beyond that is FFXII, FFVI, FFX, FFVIII, FFII, FFI, and FFIII.

Final Fantasy Tactics is easily my favorite of the FFT-style games, FFTA and FFXIIRW are pretty sub-par, IMO, and I couldn't even bring myself to buy FFTA2.

Gravitas? What gravitas?
I can't decide. I love FFVII but sometimes I think it's only better than FFVIII because of pure nostalia rather than the game itself.

However, I'll still vote for VII because...I just have to. But it's tied with VIII.

Between 7 and 9 being the best for me then Crisis Core followed by 6 and 10. Not got through the others yet and 12's story stopped me from really enjoying it.

Dawnbreaker

~The Other Side of Fear~
I voted for 6, but I loved 1, 4, 7, 9 and 10 (for the most part). I couldn't care for 8, didn't play enough of 2 or 5 or 3 to be sure, and while I like spin-offs they rarely have enough power to interest me or take top spot (though CC did a good job of trying).

I don't have a single favourite, that changes without notice based on my mood. I do rank them as such.

The Golden
FF7, FFT and FF9

The Silver
FF6, FF4, FF12

The Bronze
FF8, FF10

Everything else I've played kinda jumbles together in scale. Of the main series I'm currently working my way through FF3 DS, and I haven't finished 1, 2 and 5. I haven't played any of the spinoffs, other than Crisis Cor, DoC and FFT.

Unlike many others, my favourite has to be FFX. ;] It was the first one I played, and the only one that I've gotten so addicted to that I completed everything, even beating Penance! and maxed all of my players stats, even luck. xD

I loved all the characters, especially Tidus, the storyline was amazing, the opening and ending were both perfect, everything about the game was great to me. :]

Aw man I can't decide. VII, IX, X...[/quote]

Agreed! They were the 3 I would choose from as well. Each had god storys and battling systems. Though FFX does get a little boring when you can go 99,999 damage

Tactics is without a doubt #1 for me. Addictive and Challenging Gameplay + GRRM-esque plot = Win.

After that IV, VI, and I in that order. Then I stop ranking them :monster:

My favourite is VII. The storyline is just much more gripping to me
than any other FF.

Also, wtf is up with everyone and FFIX? That, to me, was the worst of
the series next to X-2. The chibi chracters, the annoying battles, the
blehness of the overall game.

The only thing I liked about it pretty much was the music.

FF Tactics.
It's a tale of true knights, honor chivalry and courage in a dark world were the true role of a knight has been corrupted by greed.
I also love the combat, no blasting enemies with overpowered magic or attacks, (well not too much.) Rather combat that requires strategy and tactics, foresight and subtlety.

For me, it's VI. But VII comes as a close second, followed by IV. Havn't played any of 'em after VIII
