Also, it sort of bothers me from a Staff viewpoint in trying to think up cool events. What's the sense of having a Commentary topic or a Gameplay discussion if the LTD drowns it out? It's easy to see why it takes a week to update the Town Commentary topic (and generally lazes on other projects too) if the prospective outcome is; 'Well Mog updated his topic that's nice OH SHIT SOMEONE SAID AERITH LOVES CLOUD HOLD THE PRESSES'.

Considering I'm a Staffer that loves FF7 and its community very much but has no interest in the LTD, what's a Mog to do when he wants to make the fandom better for everyone and think up cool new stuff, without it being drowned out by the LTD?

Honestly, with a franchise this successful, we shouldn't have to scavenge for things to talk about. I can go to the bookstore right now and read 6 books and an encyclopedia about Halo. (Assuming I wanted to read the backstory of a disgustingly overrated shooter.) Or Mass Effect, or Diablo, or Force Unleashed, or tons of other games I play and do find interesting. Other companies find ways to reach fans who really crave immersion. They aren't Pulitzer material, but definitely better than fucking Maiden or OTWTAS.

Ultimanias and Sephiroth-flavored potions just don't satiate my desire for immersion.

Again, we've been hearing this for years. Definitely since ACF. It isn't new. You aren't going to cause anyone to achieve Zen this way.

If someone feels not welcome and are compelled to post elsewhere because of one guys contrary opinion, then well, that's their problem. Why should I have to keep my mouth shut and go along with the flow like a sheep because I think differently than the majority?

I'm not trying to forcefully change anything. I'm just expressing an opinion. If this topic was about how great LTD discussions were and how fun they are and how glad I am to be a part of them, everyone would be in agreement and I'd get 'thanked' all over the place. But as soon as I express a contrary opinion to the rest of the board and I say 'hey, at least think about the point I'm trying to get across', I get lambasted.

But, if you truly feel unwelcome and stop posting in a community entirely because one guy in a forum population of dozens feels differently about a subject then you do, I can't help that, seriously. I'm definitely not going to apologize for it, because I'm not telling anyone to leave or to stop.

No, it's not just about the Commentary topic (come on. As whiny as you could say I'm being right now, I DO think this is a legit issue and it's not just because of my Commentary topic), but it's a real concern for me. I am trying to cook up more topics, ideas, and discussion, but while it is my job to do so, I do feel 'whats the point' sometimes because it seems that the LTD thread gets all of the attention.

It's not that I don't want people to post in it or enjoy it. I just wished, in a perfect world, that same effort would be diversified and spread out a little. I'm not trying to stomp on anyone's good time. I just don't feel the same way about it you guys do, and I'm saying something about it!
