It doesn't always work like this.
How can someone who has absolutely no experience in an RP indentify and bring a flaw in someone's post to attention?
For example, how would someone with no experience notice a power play or a godmod in a post? Discussion doesn't always bring to light these discrepencies, which ruin RP gameplay and enjoyment etc.
The advantage of running the section by consensus is that if anyone notices godmoding etc., they can report it. Additionally, allowing rules to be drawn up by consensus would mean that people would have as much time as needed to make the rules as foolproof as possible.

I suppose the disadvantage is that the process could conceivably be made rather bureaucratic, but it'd still streamline itself out as the people involved got more experienced.

We're not really bitching and moaning, much rather advising what would be better for this section.

Yay i get input.
But seriously i still wanna know this:
Have any of the current staff actually RP'ed before or ever looked at the rules for a proper RP section?

The purpose of godmodding would ideally be one individual does not see it as such while the contending member does. It's all about how you interprate the situation which as you can see from various points in this thread everyone has their own thing :monster:
Its not something a group can vot upon and tbh having an rpb voted upon by a large body of people just ends up in popularity contests than actual who is the better rp'er.

Lotta back and forth with no one agreeing on anything hardly seems beneficial.

And Scott, the answer to that is probably no.

Thanks dac, the first yes or no answer to date and it's appreciated.

If you lot truly wanna do it and dont want them on staff then its simple mod whoever you think CAN run the section who also dont fall into your pre-existing ideals of "correct mod material" and you can then ASK POLITELY to others who u dont want as mods to write the rules etc and leave it be.

This is quoted for truth. Althought we're TERRIBLE PEOPLE, we offer good RP advice. =)

That's probably what'll end up happening, honestly. It's not like people with experience won't be listened to.

Then if that does happen you still need to find someone who knows how to rp and can mod rpb's, urpg's, orpg's, approve bios and also create characters themselves/terrains.

And no i don't mean this in the direction of anyone inparticular.

To be honest it just seems incredibly counter productive to have an RP mod that doesn't have experience in the field. They'd be relying lots on those that do and it would be a lot easier to just cut out the middle man and appoint somebody that knows the ins and outs of how to run an RP.

Why isn't it relevant? Staff are expected to keep up a certain level of professionalism.
Because they're still considered staff members and their conduct outside of their section still reflects on the staff regardless of where they have power?
Mako Eyes conducts himself with the vocabulary of an upset twelve year old and MOG's attitude in the past are prime examples of staff being unprofessional, but I'm fairly sure that these have gone without reprecussion despite their obvious unprofessional nature. Witholding Channy or Bex from this position for heavily veiled flaming for a member of TLS thats been really inactive recently just seems a bit weird considering this is the one section that demands professionalism, and which both of them have shown to continuously deliver in the running of FCF's RP section.

Both Mako and M.O.G. have been reprimanded for their attitudes on multiple occasions, so I'm... not really sure what you're talking about. Just because you don't see staff being chided doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I didn't think anyone was actually bothered by Mako's swearing though

mako normally says fuck, but nobody cares tbh.

I havent read much of the thread, but it looks like the section wont be made unless a leader, so just make a leader.

I've actually be slightly bothered by Mako and Dacon's swearing before. Not with each other because they liek brothers an shit, but sometimes here are moments where one of them gets out of hand, and its hard to tell when they're joking an such. Mako's got a bit of a 'tude imo. <_<

Yes, but the fact you don't see them being reprimanded doesn't exactly improve the way the forum perceives staff's professionalism, simply because the rest of the forum doesn't see it. The fact that is that people on staff have made mistakes and acted unprofessional too, and in a far more damaging way than the opinions of two people on how hurtful they've found somebody's actions.

I couldn't see anybody besides from you who was particularly bothered by their posts though dude, they were both particularly professional considering the subject matter and how much potential there was for actually going out and flaming.

But yeah, I don't think it's particularly bothersome. Maybe a bit annoying. But it doesn't exactly do the forum any favours by having an admin with keyboard tourettes.

But really, can we just pick somebody's name out of a hat? This needs less dicking about and more action ebing taken.

And it would look more professional with staff bitching each other out in public? Not really.

Trust me, plenty of people were bothered, just because they didn't bother to express it in public doesn't mean they weren't bothered.

They don't, that's my point. If staff members got reprimanded in public it wouldn't look more professional, it would look less. I guess we could start removing/editing unprofessional staff posts but airing our dirty laundry in public would just make us look like a bunch of drama whores.

Oh. Well I dunno about that. Because with the way some of them act sometimes, it'd be at least reassuring to know that something's being dealt about it.

Hahahaha.

Anyway, we'll look into it when more staff are on, and what they think.
