Yeah, them Disney fellows from back when had taste. Tits are the only reason why adult males watch those movies.

Also, I watched it yesterday in 3D and all, but wasn't convinced of 3D technology being the shit. Because it's not - bits were very blurry or hard to follow, eyes got tired, and it's only marginally better when you actually put the glasses on. The eye expects / tries to focus on things that are in the foreground (such as Jake's camera during the videologs), but they remain blurred - which is odd. And the faster action sequences had the same problem, really. I don't think 3D video is mature enough for movies like this.

The movie was good enough in terms of action and visuals, but loses points in story and characters. Overall, it's a good movie, but not the best movie evar, as the sales figures suggest.

Also, smurf furries and tentacle rape.

Not just any tentacle rape, but tentacle mind rape.
The first thought in my mind actually was tentacle rape when they did that 'bonding' thing :monster: Especially when Jake had to forcibly hold down that flying reptile and make it bond.

I felt the same way funnily enough. I watched it in 3D but found that I could still see the double outline at times, which I found to be really distracting..Overall though I liked the movie, I thought it was okay, it wasn't epic or amazing but it was good, enjoybale...some of the story I wasnt mad about but meh...

I liked the soundtrack though...the music pieces were very nice.

It wasn't blurry when I watched it. Are you sure your theatre didn't just have a shit projection setup?

^^I don't think so, the theatre is relatively new. Maybe that there was a slight smudge on the glasses might have interfered with the focus of my eyes...I dropped them haha.

I mean the impact of the 3D seemed to vary in and out of focus, when perceiving atmospheric aspects of the movie like the ashes or the flying jellyfish looking things, the 3D was perfect, but much like Cthulu said when there was a focus on Jake in the video logs I could see the double outline. I just wonder whether it was the foreground 3D of the letters and numbers that threw my vision off.

I dunno maybe it is just that my ability to perceive 3D is shit

In such cases, watch it with one eye, :monster:.

I guess both of us had shitty projectors or glasses. Oh well, guess 3D might get another chance another day. But probably not in the near future.

I wish I could watch it in 3D, but I don't have contacts and I am not going to spend money just to get some so I can. Unfortunately, 3D for glasses-only wearers makes it quite difficult to handle. Wearing two pairs of glasses at once just kills the effect. D:

Digital 3D for me...as far as I know....

Meh we had those new age 3D glasses the ones that look like the blues brothers...not as awesome as the retro paper green and red lenses. I blame it on those! xD

really? i wear glasses and never have a problem with wearing the 3d glasses. they're big enough to fit over them

My face and the bridge of my nose is kind of small, and my glasses are kind of bulky, so when I have the 3D glasses on (which are also kind of big) over my regular ones, they slip down the bridge of my nose and I don't get the full coverage in my line of vision like I would just wearing one pair. So I am constantly pushing them up and the picture/effect is just ruined that way. It is MOST annoying.

Ahhh. The Digital 3D technology is relatively new, so the projector for your theatre was probably not set up right. I find I have the same problem with the Digital 3D theatres at the one I work at. Never had that problem with the IMAX though.

Also, glasses + 3D glasses = suck. I usually wear my glasses over the 3D glasses, I find it easier.

My glasses aren't big enough to fit over the 3D glasses; they would just pop right off. :( I should look into trying contacts again, though, for cases like this.

Sudden thread revival :wackymonster:

So initially Cameron wanted to make three sequels.

Well now it's four

First one coming Holiday 2018, the others in 2020, 2022 and 2023.

Despite the first movie not exactly being mindblowing outside of the visuals, I remain cautiously optimistic. :monster:
Good lord though, part 2 is almost a decade after the original. He sure took his time.

I'm rather excited for this, mainly because I think with all the pushes that his technological advancements've done from the first one, what comes from the next one will be insane. This still remains my favourite BluRay-extras thing that I've ever watched.

This is interesting too:

The Avatar sequels won’t follow a single plot thread, but rather comprise an entire cinematic universe. “Each one [of the sequels] stands alone but together form a complete saga,” said Cameron. He described the story as “a true epic saga told in this rich complex world.”

Reminds me of the whole Fabula Nova Crystallis concept when SE first broke word of it many moons ago. :monster:

I think that that makes sense, as he frequently states that Pandora itself is one of the most important "characters" in the film, and the amount of world-building that he put into the story is just IMMENSE.

I was reeeaaally into the first Avatar when it came out, I was so in love with the planet and everything, but tbh my enjoyment of the movie decreased each time I watched it;as time went on. XD Idk now I'm just not very hyped at all for the (now) series.

But I mean if this second movie actually is completed and comes out and looks/sounds good, I might watch it :monster:
