I don't much care for numbered (or lettered) ratings because IGN and GameInformer killed any value to such things, but if I had to give this a number, mine would have been a solid 6. That's middle of the road for me, and what I felt the movie deserved -- like Force described, "enjoyable as long as you are a fan of the source material."

Anybody else seeing any image distortion on the Kingsglaive article? Pixel says the images are getting distorted. I've manually set them to 640x480 using the html width= height=, and the original images were all 1920x1080 (I make sure to find uniform image sizes for the articles to avoid this very thing happening.)

Just wondering if anybody else is seeing this issue. Please let me know if you're viewing on mobile or computer so I can try to pinpoint the problem.

Yeah the images are squashed. 640x480 is a 4:3 resolution so that's why.

Edit: Actually, the image of Regis is already vertically stretched in its original resolution. Kingsglaive uses the theatrical widescreen aspect ratio so at 1920x1080 there should be letterboxing but the image is stretched to the full vertical resolution. If you set it to 1920x800 it'll look as it should.
So basically it was vertically stretched and then horizontally squashed afterwards.

Yes, cinemas (specifically movies created for cinema) tend to use "anamorphic widescreen" (2:39:1) so it needs to be letterboxed in 16:9. 640x480 is a US standard 4:3 resolution. I shall fix.

EDIT: Who took these screenshots. Some are cropped from anamorphic widescreen and some are actually 16:9.
EDIT 2: Updated, they should look fine now.

i am watching the first 12 minutes in japanese on youtube (for some raison i didn't see that before, only the english voice/japanese sub one) and just learnt that 'demon' (daemon? are they going fancy?) is 'shigai' in japanese, which makes it the same as 'cie'th' from ffxiii and whatever the english was in type-0.

also from the few shouts i think i like sean bean's regis better but then i've only heard him shouting 'noctic!' and 'lunafreya!' and 'general glauka!' and actually those weren't sean bean's best lines either

also i keep wondering what these two guys at 12:40 are up to, are they drunk or high or something, the one in the dark green vest thing looks like he's poppin and lockin

i did not notice the trash bag people. you can see what looks like an animation error in that bit, the guy in beige pants on the right jumps onto the pile of bags and his leg just seems to go from being up in the air to shooting straight down to the ground

guess background drunks don't get the top notch animation attention

The beat and tempo for Calling for Rain is actually pretty neat but good lord those lyrics.

What I think is hilarious is in one of the frames at the beginning of the movie you can see Tredd Furia shaving with one of his knives.

I've only listened to a few of the OST tracks so far, and they seem pretty good. Mostly I just keep listening to Apocalypsis Noctis on repeat.

Neither did I. At first I thought it may have been a piece of weird shrapnel embedded in his skull, or a wifi antennae of sorts. It just seemed weird to only have half of a crown barely peeking out from one side of the head. But now that question has been answered.
