Huh, so they're just now getting around to thinking of doing a new comp title? Really? Oh well. I guess we'll see how this goes if they can actually be assed to do it.

Am I the only one who would be annoyed if the game was called "FFVII-2" instead of "Final Fantasy VII"+"Some cheesy subtitle"? I mean, I know they suck at naming things, and FFVII-2 solves the problem, sort of. But they've been using the FFVII+Subtitle thing in every compilation title, and the whole "-2" thing makes me think of FFX-2, and possibly FFXIII-2, which are not exactly what I'd expect from a FFVII sequel...

The Compilation is a fucking travesty. Every single piece of it.

If a FFVII-2 was in development it would have to work towards bleaching the FFVII universe of every single element of the Compilation before I'd be interested to even the smallest degree.

Then again, FFVII was the perfect standalone game. It doesn't need a sequel, prequel or compilation to begin with.

It probably wouldn't bother me, but I think I would prefer a subtitle to VII-2.

Surely the gameplay would have to be somewhat similar to the original FFVII, perhaps more free-roaming like in recent games as far as battle is concerned. That could only be a good thing. As long as the music is rocking and not rapping or j-popping, I'm fine. There has also got to be towns to explore. As for game naming: FFVII-2. Simple. We can think of a subtitle when we play the game, and then make a thread about it. Mind you, if this game is ever made, it'll be at least 4 years down the road. I'll be 31 :'(.

At this point, I don't think we can -- or at least probably shouldn't -- expect anything in particular from a FFVII sequel.

We can apparently expect Kitase to continue making stupid comments related to FFVII, though.

But, yeah, I'd prefer a subtitle myself since that's been the order of business thus far.

I find it hilarious they said, in 2007, that the Compilation would still go for more 10 years, ending in 2017... But forgot to tell us that during some(or many) of these years, they wouldn't even think about it. :monster:

Edit: to extrapolate - in a game where Tifa is not busy being dependent on Cloud, she could absolutely carry it.

Cloud has an emotional dependency on Tifa, yes. But his story does not revolve around supporting her, like Tifa supports him.
