Who needs to do that? Isn't it easier just to do nothing and wait for the news to leak out like we've been doing? I don't think Kitase is that disingenuous.
To be honest, I wouldn't mind(much) if they retconned DoC's secret-ending out of existence, and said that Genesis actually helped the Tsviets in their rebellion and was killed during it(making DoC's ending be the Compilation's ending)

I have just figured out how they could do a sequel/discount the compilation. They could just pull a Dallas
Cloud wakes up in Gongaga after the events at the Temple of the Ancients, and realises that everything he experienced, Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus...Kingdom Hearts...was ALL A CRAZY DREAM.
Then he goes and rescues Aeris (instead of standing there like a chump) Tells Sephiroth "YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME!" at which Seph turns into an owl and everything collapses. Then Cloud, Aeris and Tifa all become Mormons allowing them to have a polygamous marriage and thus ending the LTD once and for all.

I dunno, would you really have preferred he made episodes 1 and 2 and then just stopped? Hindsight is 20/20, so ignoring however you may feel about episode 3, you wouldn't have seen it even a little bit as a cop out if he just quit most of the way through?
