Only one that really comes to mind. Vincent. Maybe because all my best friend talked about was him, how cool he is, what he can do, his glorifying emoness/vampireness or whatever. Plus I played DoC first without prior knowledge about VII (again friend made me play it), not exactly a character I would like and a personal hate of FPS games on a non-computer console

There are probably other characters I probably don't like, but I usually don't think about stuff like that and just get on with it lol.

Also, Tidus gets on my nerves with his excessive whiney and crap, but on the other hand I sorta do like him, I wish he could dress himself properly though.

There's characters I don't like, some are obvious and cliches, like Quina and Cait Sith and Edward.

The main guy who pisses me off though, is Cyan from VI. First, his accent is stupid. Second, he's a total klutz and a technophobe. And third and most importantly, he's emo and self-pitying for no real reason. His kingdom gets wiped out and he has it in his head it's his fault for failing to protect them. Except it's not, they were poisoned and Cyan's katanas don't exactly fend off poisoned water well, so what the hell does he think he could have done to save them?

Sure, Cloud feels guilty over Aerith and Zack dying, but that's different because had things been a little different, he may have been able to save them. Cyan doesn't have the same excuse, there's nothing he could have done, so he has no reason to feel guilty. It'd be like feeling guilty for a power outage when you work at a power plant.

Dude...Cyan and Cloud's situation are exactly the same thing. They both felt powerless protecting the ones they cared about from death and thus they feel guilt for not having done more. You can't say they aren't the same thing when they BOTH involve the villain murdering the ones they cared for. I'm sure Cyan feels that had he seen how the water looked purple and fucked up, or he had been there, he could've done something.

And FFS, Cyan had his entire family and country killed in the span of a single day. No shit, someone's gonna be depressed over being the sole survivor of a massacre. It's called survivor's guilt.

Agreed, it's survivor's guilt. I'm not a shrink so I won't pretend I'm an expert on the subject, but I'm not comfortable accepting that as an argument.

And yes, they both feel guilt for not having done more. Except that Cyan couldn't have done more, he couldn't have stopped Kefka, he didn't know what he was planning and even if he did he couldn't have stopped him short of a suicide run into the camp. Rather than blame the people who *did* kill his family, Cyan spends most of the game blaming himself.

Yeah, neither could Cloud, but that doesn't stop him from thinking that either.

And if it's not an acceptable argument for Cyan, but you accept it for Cloud, then that's hypocritical to the max. Cloud didn't know he had Jenova cells in his body manipulating his mind and actions, making him a puppet for Sephiroth. Nor did he know he'd black out while Aerith would try to save the planet with Holy, and it'd end with her dying. Nor could he do anything while he was a vegetable thanks to mako poisoning, while Zack sacrificed himself to save him. There was nothing he could've done either.

And yeah, Cyan did blame the Empire. He devoted his life and feelings towards revenge.

In both cases, it's a question of being powerless to save them because "REASON". If Kefka counts as a superior foe Cayenne couldn't stop, then how the hell is the majority of the ShinRa MP forces or Sephiroth any different? Because Cloud was literally incapacitated at the time? That gives Cayenne MORE reason to beat himself up. He had no excuse, he was at his peak, and yet he still failed to halt Keffypoo's slaughter.

Not just of his family, mind, but also his country. He's the sole survivor as far as he knows, and hates himself for it.

FF7- Hated Cait Sith, because he was a traitor bastard whose sacrifice was just doofy.

FF8- Hated Squall for him hating everyone else. :awesome:

FF9- Hated Amarant because... there just wasn't much to him, really.

FF10- Hated Wakka for being a bigoted prick. :awesome:

Will possibly add more when I replay some of these games/finish FF12.

FFVI -- Banon, because he always got fucking killed by Ultros until I figured out that I needed to move him to the back row. :rage:

I hate Tidus for being an annoying, whiny brat. I could have cared less if he was run over by a truck.

Squall irked me just because he was somehow a mix of self-pitying emo and boring.

Amarant...I didn't care about at all. Even Freya laughs at him for being a complete failure at life.

Terra was the one who kept dying in that fight for me until I figured that out. Dunno why, probably because ultros always tentacled her.

Really? Interesting. I remember thinking that it was programmed for Ultros to smack Banon particularly hard at least once during the fight, enough to kill him if he wasn't in the back row. And then I had to fucking start over despite having fistfuls of fenix downs...grrrwharrgarrbl :@

And no comment for the moment on Terra being tentacled. :awesome:

I think Terra may have just been at a really low level. Or maybe she just had shit equipment. It is kind of odd that she was the one who always died.

Aww, poor girl. 'Tis cruel fate to be raped by a tentacle. :( And who can be arsed to go 'round and 'round in circles on the raft to grind levels? I think I read something about using a turbo controller to grind your party to level 99 in that area, but I sure as hell would never have bothered.

yeah levelling up characters there messes up your ability to raise your characters’ stats later anyway so I didn’t really want to do it.

also I just remembered that Ultros specifically targets Terra for a lot more damage than the rest of the party most of the time, which I think he never does to Banon as long as he doesn't attack him (and I always had him use Health). He probably targets other characters as well but they were stronger at that point.

And yesh, tentacle raep does not seem like an appealing prospect :monster:

Moving her to the back row was sufficient enough, :monster:. Was it even possible to have an offering at that point in the game? If so I never heard about it. D:

Did I say Offering? :awesome:

Clearly I put "Genji Glove" which is the Relic you can get after the Returners Hideout. Saying "Offering" wouldn't make any sense :monster:

nice ninja edit, :monster:.

also genji glove wouldn't really help with her defence seeing as it would take away her shield. D; Genji Glove is awesome, though :monster:

I think that's an appropriate name for it. Because if you edit your post right after posting with I think...5 seconds, it doesn't list the post as being edited.

So yeah, ninja edit :monster:

I always gave it to her anyways because a good offense is the best defense. Kill your opponents faster fgj! :monster:

Yeah, I haven’t completed it in awhile either. I started a game earlier this year but never got very far I think. I’m not in much of an RPG mood, I’m in more of an action-adventure/platformer mood.

And killing opponents faster only works as a defence if doing so doesn’t cause enemies to counterattack and kill your characters :monster:
