I still think that instead of a book, if they wanted to show that Cloud is absolutely in love with Aerith, maybe they'd have an intimate moment in the hour-long movie.

Ladder to Heaven? Riding past a field at the end with a ribbon floating in the sky? That's fucking stupid.

Edit; oooh, Tina.

Somebody smiley this, please.
Naaaame it.

"Maiden" of the Planet has implies certain things.

Cloud and Aerith have a bond different than he had with any other team member - the closest one I can think of would be Squall as Rinoa's protector knight. I'm sure Rinoa wearing his ring had significance based on who she was. The significance is not only that everyone wore the ribbon, but Cloud tried to keep it hidden. Why would he need to do that, if Aerith is just another comerade?
Cloud and Tifa have a bond different than he had with any other team member as well. And we can compare them to something like Cecil and Rosa.

Plus the fundementals of their relationship changed when she died. Cloud is no longer her protector, Aerith is pretty much the FFVII deity.

Why would he need to do that, if Aerith is just another comerade?
The same reason he was living alone. Cloud was smothered with guilt, he couldn't honor her memory properly. No one is suggesting she wasn't special. But it doesn't mean he's so madly in love with her it surpasses his relationship with everyone else.

okay so just answering some older questions that I can't be assed to quote:

I think it's not so much that having sex would be inappropriate in the context of the game so much as it would be in the context of who they are. Look at how they behave in Advent Children, do they seem like the sort of people who would have sex outside just because "oh hey the world is ending"? Zack would fuck someone on the eve of the world's undoing. Cloud? Boob touching at best.

It's not OMG CANON that they slept together that night anyways, and I don't believe that they did.

Oh and I don't believe Tifa's a virgin because she is over the age of 18, attractive, and lived a pretty functional life during those years when she would be interested in having sex. I mean it's not like I have SOLID EVIDENCE, this is just my own inference based on the way that our world works.

I bet Fang and Vanille made sweet sweet love before the end of the world. Fang is such a badass.
why does everything I think go back to Fang and Vanille? I think I love them more than they love each other. sob

OH AND I HAVE A BETTER GIF

If they wanted to show us that Cloud and Aerith were lovers, you'd think that he'd have met up with her during that span of three years - oh wait, he was with Tifa the entire time.

"Maiden" of the Planet has implies certain things.
"Maiden" of the Planet is not canon. And if it was, pro-Cloti.

Aerith was happy that she finally knew the real Cloud.

Tifa embraced Cloud tightly as he returned to his senses. Aerith watched as both of them returned to the surface while smiling like an affectionate mother.

Hope you can read that.

Just because Cloud and Aerith have a parallel with another canon pairing in the game doesn't make it official, unless you'd like to see all the parallels I have for Cloud and Tifa with other canon pairings in SE. And as for Cloud being Aerith's 'protector,' one can assume that Cloud's promise to Tifa is the exact same scenario, and he's kept it throughout the entire compilation unlike Aerith.

Can't say it to her face, so you have to resort to this in pack behavior?

I'm impressed...

How can we say it to her face if she won't allow us to say it to her face? I mean really? Tell her to either come here, or go to TNC, or have CxA staff lift the ban on debates and we will have no problem going there to talk to her.

All I'd like to ask is, if you're so confident, how come you're attacking the person, not the argument?

Considering that people are the ones who make arguments I don't see how the two can always be differentiated. Arguments are not living breathing entities with minds of their own that just sneak their way into your vocabulary and escape into public domain via your vocal chords/forum posts.

Also, in FFG's case, she runs around her forum spouting things off willy nilly unchecked. The only people there either aren't informed enough to know it's wrong, are so desperate to be right that they will pretend it isn't wrong, or probably keep their mouths shut for fear of repercussions. This is akin to Ann Rice suddenly deciding that she was too important for her novels to be edited, and then every review for her books since then have been nothing but, "Don't read this it's horrible."

The thing is, FFG is safe from being called out on her falsities on the pink forum, and she knows this. Anyone who goes there to say anything is told that nope, it's against the rules, please go to TNC where we can all go to debate if we want. Then guess what? She doesn't show up.

What she is arguing is so off base that I don't believe she isn't doing it on purpose. But if she wants everyone to think she's right then she needs to show herself. At least on our forum we won't ban you or put you on mod preview for speaking your mind on the situation. Or for shipping a ship we don't think is canon.

And feeling guilty for someone's death automatically equates to romantic feelings, amirite

Short of necromancy, being dead makes having a relationship difficult. Cloud doesn't know where to find Aerith - but that doesn't mean he still doesn't love her.

Speaking of, I've seen nothing here that proves Cloud doesn't love Aerith.

And as Cloud thought for his love with Aerith, he decided to stick with Tifa in the end because he needed a woman who could make his sandwiches.

Easy, it's because he's in love with another girl.

The second is never said, anywhere. Try again.
He can't see her face until he decides to start fighting again. He forgives himself - pretty straight forward, isn't it?

Conveniently forgetting Barrett... AGAIN.

Seriously, you forgot the context AND put feminism back a few decades by implying the only role Tifa can have is mothering caregiver for her idiot comerade. Congratulations.

It's been a slice, guys. Good night.

I disagree, actually. He's not the sort to 'just' do that from what we see in CC. Hell, he's described by Cissnei as 'even though you might think he's a ladies man, he's actually really naiive' so, yeah.

It's not OMG CANON that they slept together that night anyways, and I don't believe that they did.

From 15 to 20 she was pretty much focused on making ShinRa pay for killing her hometown, so unless she went that way early- something that may or may not be the case in the sleepy mountain culture of Nibelheim- I doubt she would have gotten her freak on.

I bet Fang and Vanille made sweet sweet love before the end of the world. Fang is such a badass.

If it makes you feel better, you, Fang, and Vanille can be the FFXIII OT3.

How is it forgetting Barret if Barret's never there?

Wait, how are we implying this? I can't even find a trail of broken logic to follow to this conclusion.

BTW, Loneyponey, you said you you saw nothing here 'that proves Cloud didn't love Aerith', but hey, I don't see a damn thing from you or pink hell that proves he actually does.

The significance is not only that everyone wore the ribbon, but Cloud tried to keep it hidden.
Well maybe (just maybe) that happened because the arm the ribbon was placed on coincidentally was the one that displayed the rather gruesome effects of Cloud's Geostigma. Kinda seems like you're trying to see too much meaning it this when it makes perfect sense that he would keep it concealed from other people's sight, right?

If the ribbon held such a special meaning (as in a different meaning from the one it has to ALL Avalanche members and not just Cloud) why would Cloud wear it on his other, free from Geostigma (hence always fully exposed) arm? See how flawed that kind of logic can be?

Forgetting Barrett how? I mean, when he decided to leave them and all.

Oh you must be mistaking the real Tifa with the Clerith one. You know, the Tifa who will wait on the man she loves while he's a jerk sneaking off to the flower-fields to have sex with a ghost.

I've always wondered why Cloud wouldn't have put the ribbon on his non-infected arm, then?

And yes, there is too much symbolism digging in this, but only to counter other similar points that make even less sense.

I can't help it if all I do is post pictures of girls I could never have. :awesome:

As for context, you completely ignored what I had to say to that, ergo, it's something you forgot.

Says the person who says we're saying too much from one quote. At least someone said Cloti at least confessed mutual feelings.

...Wait, so feminists cannot be mothering caregivers? She's kickass, she owns her own business and yes, she does take care of Cloud and the kids. OMG SO ANTI-FEMINIST ALLOWING WIMMIN TO DO WHAT THEY WISH! :awesome:

But I should sleep too, I love you all (esp. Audi and Tiff). Night!

First, Aerith is dead. Second, Cloud can't even see Aerith's face because of his guilt.

Tifa is in the same bedroom as him.

Context, please.

but Aerith lives inside of him and he can see her at any time, CONTEXT PLZ

Also, I think this would make an interesting side story/doujinshi (Tifa's past relationships outside of Cloud) if it were done in a classy, tasteful way and not the '3 pages plot, 27 pages porn' doujin way.

Also I want to know how Tifa's virginity is relevant?

The context of that situation was that it didn't lend itself to be romantic because she he was going to allow, for all intents and purposes, "his kids" to be in the hands of villains while he ran away. Pardon them for not making out on the bed.

What that scene showed was a couple getting through their worst of problems.

What we saw with Cloud and Aerith was extreme guilt and her urging him to get over it. And he did.
