... And the themes and health bars from the respective games during the final fight with Liquid Ocelot was pretty cool too. The whole Liquid and Ocelet thing doesn't make any damn sense to me but they started that in 2 so you can't blame that one on 4. Soundtrack was good too.

The Sigint thing was implied in 3, and the Ocelot thing can damn well be blamed on 4.

In MGS2 he really was possessed by Liquid's spirit through his arm, and according to the MGS database he had the arm removed afterwards and replaced with a bionic arm, for him to go into MGS4 and do this shit all over thanks to NANOMACHINES and psychotherapy to "fool" the Patriots. It's retarded. The Phantom Arm thing was simple and to the point, and it's not like supernatural shit is new in MGS, even if 4 tried to pretend it didn't exist (Nanomachines making dead bodies float in the air? what the fuck)

The fist fight in the end was well directed, even if it's asinine for two senior citizens to beat the shit out of each other for over thirty minutes, after one of them went through a damn microwave, and the soundtracks are always good.

No I'm not excited about Rising, after MGS4 butchered his character to make him teh coolz, but who knows, it might surprise me.

The 4 man co-op in Peace Walker looks like good fun though. The focus on gameplay looks good.

Liquid's spirit possessing him through the arm was pretty supernatural and dumb if you ask me. Him fooling the patriots made a LITTLE more sense to me, but still dumb. I didn't remember them relating nanomachines to him but I only played it once and I guess I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm not saying it was the best game ever...but I don't really think it shit on the series either. 3, for example, was awesome but the villain being a freakin' pikachu was kinda ridiculous.

Good for you, but it ruined several of my favorite characters with outright awful writing and plot direction. Raiden, Meryl, Ocelot, Snake, even Vamp. Everything Raiden and Snake went through in MGS2 went out the goddamn window, Ocelot himself doesn't show up until the end of the game, and only to die, due to another shitty outplayed plot device.

The game goes through even more pointless cutscenes and droll unnecessary explanations than ever. MGS4 was fuckin trash to me as far as plot goes, and it stings even more after how well the first 2 acts went plotwise and gameplay wise.

3, for example, was awesome but the villain being a freakin' pikachu was kinda ridiculous.

The villain having a suit that generates electricity is ridiculous? Ok, but MGS has always had an element of ridiculousness and over the top shit.

Either way, this is the Peace Walker thead and I don't want to drown it out with my noticeably bitter experiences with MGS4.

And while I'm still on the subject of music, who's actually scoring Peace Walker? From what I've looked around and seen/heard, it doesn't seem to be Hibino (or GEM Impact for that matter), and it doesn't seem to be Gregson-Williams either, as neither of them have actually mentioned Peace Walker in their portfolios. Judging from the theme song and the fact that he's done the previous PSP OSTs before, it could be Akihiro Honda.

Or probably him and a mix of nobodies. The bgm doesn't sound too shabby, so I'd be really interested in who exactly is scoring the game.

Also, the only true difference between Calling to the Night and Heaven's Divide is the lyrics which are a lot more personal in Heaven's Divide. Melody-wise, yeah, there's a difference but the instrumental elements are still there. Actually, thinking more about it Heaven's Divide is probably closer to Snake Eater in terms of lyrics than it is to Calling to the Night, but in terms of emotion they're still trying to get that Hans-Zimmer effect of wartime-sacrifice-grief-blah-blah-blah across

Actually, the more I listen to it the more I think it's the bastard child of Calling to the Night and Snake Eater because it's so goddamn cheesy and emotional at the same time.

THe songs are written differently, sung differently, use a different melody and sound different.

Think what you want but they're clearly two very different pieces of music and saying 'Oh they're the same" isn't going to negate the fact that Heaven's Divide sounds noticeably worse to me.

I also completely disregarded her man-jaw in MGS4 so shuddup bout that too

And yeah the X-ray vision thing creeps me out when I think about how there are more male main characters and Paz looks like barely past pre-pubescent. But apart from that I don't mind, I'm just going to huddle in a corner and hope for the best.

Also, the cutscene frames make me lol because Master Miller's got this "!" expression when he see's Paz's scars on her arm and when the X-ray vision goes to her underwear it's this old dude who goes "!" instead. It'd be so in-character for Snake to do that sort of thing though.
