SO... JOHNNY KNOXVILLE IS NOW VOICING LEONARDO...
You know, 'cause he's clearly the serious leader type...
WELP. I'd say that clear signs that things are in a good place with the new Ninja Turtles film is completely recasting lead roles with new Voice Actors at what is... essentially the last second.
You know... especially because that might mean re-rendering all of the facial performance captures in anything where the Turtles talk, since they were using facial performance capture cameras in the set pictures, that means that all of the voice and performance capture would've been done all at once and already would've been imported into every scene that the CGI is used in... That is unless they're having the new voice-only actors watch the existing CGI and try to accurately lip-sync and dub it over an existing performance capture...
Who knows, maybe that means that they'll be re-doing the Turtles' faces as well to make it easier to re-voice, since that previously posted image set has been a huge hit online: http://imgur.com/a/0lwLZ
Either way, I'd expect to see more of this last-minute sort of thing soon from this movie.
Fuck sake.
(Too bad you can't just re-render Megan Fox to actually look like April O'Neil)

Not enough people stand up to Bay, thats why this shit happens. There was a guy working on Transformers who stood up in a pre-vis dailies screening and shouted about how he was ruining transformers with his stupid ideas. That guy ended up developing the transforming animation, which I thought were one of the few good things about that movie.
There was another story that he edited together his own cut of a movie. And if he had released it as it was, he would never have worked in hollywood again

Michael Bay's only producing this film. He's not even directing it. Nothing's ever gonna stop him from throwing money at something.

Oh, I'm well aware of that (if you've ever heard Kevin Smith talk about the Superman film with Nic Cage that almost was, that's the best version of fucking crazy powerful producers ever).
I was just saying that the film doing shitty will end up going negatively at the director rather than the producer - especially in this case, because there's basically nothing that'll stop Bay from producing films and influencing them negatively.

For me, it's the specific confluence of factors that makes me less excited about the film. The changed origin on its own would just be another Origin, but that plus them being Aliens (Has that officially been said false, yet) plus shredder being a white dude plus no Kraang... Put me down as very cautious about this work.

@Ryu: The Ooze is frequently extraterrestrial/extradimensional, so them being 'alien' is essentially covered by that. Also, where did you hear that the Krang/Kraang/Utrom weren't in the film? I haven't heard that anywhere that I recall.

I mean the lack of anything that would hint at Kraang even being a plot point. And while yes, they could be hiding it for a reveal- and I hope they would be- I remain hesitant.

Apparently Donatello doesn't talk in this trailer. Looks like we're doing a Raph & April rescue the Turtles story. Megan Fox makes me want to die. Also, is there a real Shredder in the film?!?
Lastly, the character posters are out, and their anatomy makes me want to die even more than Megan Fox. Their shells are like backpacks that are positioned too high on their backs, and they don't connect with plating along the sides to their chest plates at all.

Every time I look at this, it looks worse. It shouldn't be possible to look worse than it does now, but I know the next time I glance that way to see the train wreck, a plane will have crashed on top of it.

Is there really any doubt Bay is going to ruin this movie? Did anyone actually like the 120-min commercials, I mean movies, that were the transformer movies? There were no explosions in the original TMNT movie, that is about to change big time.......

I get the sentiment, but Michael Bay's producing, not directing this - unlike Transformers - but he's still clearly got a lot of influence in it. Additionally, I'd have to say that explosions represent exactly 0% of what's wrong with this film.
If you want to know what the design process behind making realistic Turtles should've looked like, check out any of the BTS stuff from the TMNT: Out of the Shadows game. Even if you're not a fan of the end result, like I was - it's clear that they had all the right ideas going into it.
Like, there are tiny parts of that trailer that seem fun, but for me they're just mired underneath a lot of dubstep and just excess when it feels like they're missing all of the important fundamental building blocks of the Turtles that actually matter. It just feels like a trailer that's attempting to dazzle you to keep you from seeing all the bullshit underneath.

It makes me sad. Like, that on joke in the trailer where Bay!Mikey is all "Don't worry, it's just a mask see?" and takes off his bandana? That feels like TMNT. That feels like Michaelangelo all over. And yet its sunk too deep in this horrid quagmire of crap to see it.

I'm really hoping that there's at least something redeemable about the film to get it to the point where I'd see it and enjoy it. Even the meta "them being aliens is stupid" stuff just fell totally flat for me (and the Russian trailer with booty-bait April taking more pictures with her cell phone makes me not take her seriously if she's supposed to be a reporter).
I do have to admit that I'm surprised that I didn't instantly hate Johnny Knoxville as Leo. He seemed to do fairly well (especially since the TMNT 2012 series has a different VA for Leo as of the last couple episodes, so I'm getting used to the idea of different Leonardo voices again).
I guess the best I can do is just try to totally reset all my thoughts about it, and go see it as if I knew absolutely NOTHING about it, and just judge it purely on that.
