thank god he plans to keep the mystical side in the movie but just couldnt portray it in the short. I dont think there's a question as to whether it'll get made or not now though, with all the positive attention it's been getting

After just now seeing that I have to say that while it looks cool, it doesn't do the games justice at all. Much like Annihalation didn't. The best MK movie was the first. This just seems like they're taking the characters and making what they want out of them to make it seem more realistic to the natural world. I think it's bullshit compared to the first, but as far as action and entertainment goes, it might pass.

this is just a "fan-made" video a director made to sell his idea of a mk movie to warner bros. in an interview he's said that if he were to make the movie, it would incorporate the mysticism and everything, just more grounded in reality and less cheesy. he was unable to show that in the video because of money.

Well let's throw ALL THAT OUT. Let's still call it Mortal Kombat though. But let's have it be gritty and dark and have all the superhumans just be humans.

Honestly, if you're gonna take everything that is Mortal Kombat and throw it out the window...why even call it Mortal Kombat?

Also it's not very realistic anyway. Not only is the oldest living Harlequin IRL younger than Baraka in the film, he only survives because of treatments. I highly doubt Baraka in the film regularly sees a doctor and he should be very, very dead.
So it's already failed at supposed realism.

Im glad there straying from the original MK story and are re imagining it, because honestly i dont know what universe you crazy fucks are from(but from the looks of mums face im guessing the bizzaro universe) the MK story is quite the piece of shit.

The short looks good though, and honestly how could you not realize that the directer wanted to keep the mysticism in the movie from the short alone? For fucks sakes scorpions dead in it.
