I think that the idea behind it is pretty cool actually, Especially from a fighting game that involves REALLY kicking the shit out our opponent. While not the best comparison, you could liken it to the Ninjutsu attacks in Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. While they cut away, and do the same damage as other, similiar attacks, the visual spectacle is part of the immersion and feel of the game.

Good to see art for Baraka, looking at Goro in action, and seeing Liu Kang. I don't recall having seen Ermac before either, though apparently he was shown elsewhere.

The fact that they can still fight after all of that is suspect, but still, lizard people, magic, and ethereal martial arts, specters from hell and people stealing souls.

I actually really like this. It was evident in the first demo fight with Scorpion & Sub-Zero. Wen Scorpion wins, he's got an eye blacked out, a hold in his chest, part of his head sliced open, and his liver shattered (not visible). The fact that ALL the damage compounds and does fade away, gives a really good sense of "God, that was a close one" or "I fucking wiped the floor with him" when you're standing victorious at the end of the 2-3 round battle.

While I agree with Dacon that you probably couldn't fight after that sort of injury, it's Mortal Kombat.

I think that was the first demo where Scorpion fought Sub-Zero. I thought it was just exposed skull, but I could be mistaken. CBA to go check.

This what I like about the damage system. Aside from just a "Flawless Victory" it'll give you that feeling of not having a scratch on you. Standing there, victorious, and totally unscathed. That'll be especially rewarding if the fighting system is as tight as they're touting it to be.

I hope they're putting a lot more work into seamlessly integrating the animations into each other.

The worst part about the last trilogy of MK games was the shitty way they animated so robotically and stiff.
