Also, I just read an interview back from 2017 where they said one day we'll actually get to visit Hingashi outside of just Kugane. Wonder when that'll happen (obviously not for the next two years at least)

So in the Azim Steppe there is something called the "Bridge of the High Rule Warriors". I thought the name intriguing. Who are these "High Rule Warriors"? What's their place in the lore? What did they accomplish? Are they still around? I started researching them. Theirs is the stuff of legend. I looked far and wide for answers but it was by pure chance that I believe I might have finally found one of their kind:

In other news, I've been mopping up some of the remaining sidequests for aether currents etc and purchased as much of the augmented Scaevan gear as I could (that's the best one for 70, right? o.o).

I went back to Kugane and...there's a huge airpship there now? What's all this then?

I met Naoki Yoshida the wandering minstrel again. Looks like they streamlined unlocking those extreme trials, eh? Didn't even have to accept a quest this time around. I guess there's only so many times you can pull the whole "oh, the beast tribes have summoned their primal for the 15th time, now with even MORE crystals!!!!" shtick.

I can also go to Eureka now. I've read the explanations in-game, but somebody please tell me more about it anyway

To be fair, it is a theater trope living in the ship (the entire ship has a stage in it even!_. So I'm not sure what else you could call the airship other than Prima Vista.

You will want to do that raid to unlock content in ShB going forwards. Fortunately, a lot of people are running that raid right now for reasons.

I have since descended from the tower and can report that I absolutely missed that final jump down to the sightseeing spot on the lamp post.

Maybe someday I'll try getting that again. You know, when I feel like torturing myself.

I was the first of us to be successful at this platforming attempt and it resulted in various marriage proposals (actual in game marriage proposals - when you get married in XIV you get a special ring that allows you to teleport directly to your partner). NOBODY WANTS ME FOR ME *cries in not terrible at platforming*

But yeah tets there are other platforming challenges in the game :3

The Kugane one is the biggest and all of them have the same jank: working out where the invisible walls suddenly make a platform that looks normal impossibly small.

Quick Omega impressions:
First of all, I can't believe we managed to do all of it yesterday, I think we played for like, seven or eight hours straight o_o
I didn't expect Midgardsormr to make another appearance here and even less did I expect that cartoony out-of-place chocobo from...Mystery Dungeon? I think?

Look how adorable Alpha is in his uniform though T_T

The solo instance leading up to it had Nero gear up in his armor and go full Hammertime again which was cool to see. I almost forgot he was once a boss character.

I enjoyed getting more backstory. Omega not being a weapon of Allag but having arrived from a different planet was not what I would have thought. And Midgardsormr also comes from a different world? So technically the dragons are actually aliens, that's nuts. xD
I think my favorite battle was the Phantom Train. Literally went OH SHIT when it appeared. Just ever so slightly disappointed that we couldn't perform a collective suplex on it...

And fucking LOL, Omega goes full Mettaton from Undertale in changing from a clunky robot thing to a sexy androgynous pretty boy
Except with less funky music.
(I wanna say the music didn't stand out to me as much as it did during Alexander but this is mostly because I had to turn it down so I could hear Lex' instructions over Discord )

My character isn't sure what to think of this new and improved Omega...

And then he also comes up with a waifu version of himself

Anyway, this was fun times! Return to Ivalice next, then?

Oh and one thing I noticed is that this raid was all boss fights. I remember Alexander still having like a mini dungeon with trash mobs leading up to those, I assume they decided to just streamline it to get to the meat of things?

I've been continuing the main story a little bit. I'm glad to see the sultana back, I kinda like her character and it's been a while since we've seen her story continue. It felt like they set a few things up at the end of ARR that then kinda had to be put aside for the plot of HW and SB.
We met up with Godbert Manderville at the Gold Saucer for an important discussion...man I'm glad he was wearing pants for once.

Speaking of Manderville, I have not started the Hildibrand quests for SB yet...I'm excited to start them but I wonder, is it even possible to top that buff!Vivi bit they did in HW?

I forgot to mention, I got to use my lvl3 limit break 2 or 3 times during the Omega raids. That was neat, I think the last time I got to use a lvl3 one was during the fight against that Ascian (The Chrysalis trial, I believe) which was way back in...August?

Having just finished patch 4.2, I feel validated in my decision to always distrust that Asahi dude whenever given that dialogue option. Not that those options matter in any meaningful way but y'know. My character now canonically didn't like his face from the beginning and for good reason.
Yotsuyu having survived but with amnesia is classic soap opera, lol

And Zenos is revealed to be alive, I suppose I should pretend to be shocked but the internet already spoiled that for me. Didn't take long for the reveal at least. The question that remains is how?

So 4.3 should be the end of the Stormblood arc proper, I assume. Hoping for an epic trial to close things off.

So I got my epic trial it seems

The Yotsuyu/Tsukuyomi trial went well. Apart from me dying two or three times
It was that damned mechanic where one half of the arena is black and the other white and it shows a moon symbol above your character. I'm not sure whether you're supposed to stay on the corresponding or opposite color it shows you because I feel like I tried both and still died every time?

As for Yotsuyu...well since she returned to her usual dickish self after regaining her memory I don't feel too bad for her. I feel more for Gosetsu though.
And I get my answer as to the how of Zenos' "survival": Possession by an Ascian. Guess these guys felt like they had been ignored by the story a bit too long.
Except Zenos' mind is now in a random Ala Mhigan soldier? Wtf is even happening

And then at the end of the patch, I suddenly get to play as Alphinaud??

Not that he himself was very exciting to play as but just the fact that I get to slip out of my character's skin for a change is pretty cool. Even lets you use a limit break in a solo instance for once. Nice!

So that Shadowhunter guy that showed up...
My first instinct was to say "That's Gaius van Baelsar!" I don't know how that would be possible but life uh, finds a way. That gunblade certainly looks like it could be his...I think?
Would explain how he knows of the Scions. And also the fact that he seems to have a grudge against Ascians. Considering last time he was in league with one it ended in such devastation (which was not his intention)

Or maybe it's just a random new guy, idk.

I am most certainly intrigued however.

I got to play as Y'Shtola in a solo instance...lost a bunch of times and got extremely annoyed because there is a segment before that where you have to fight this Dotharl lady as your own character and she keeps reviving herself a bunch and you have to do that fight again if you die.
Problem is you need to heal Hien as Y'Shtola and I...couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do that??? I've never played as a healer before darnit!! I just couldn't target Hien at all.

Eventually I realized - I had it set so that only enemies could be targeted while my weapon is drawn.



I had done this way back in ARR, because targeting allies is pointless and completely gets in the way when playing as DPS. Playing with a controller I mostly target by just pointing my character at the enemy and it's easy to target your party members doing that. Anyway so this is why shit didn't work. Even after I changed it though I still somehow managed to fail that healing check

I swallowed my pride and just set the instance to Very Easy.
I should probably not play as a healer seeing how I have trouble keeping just one friendly NPC alive
