So.
If you had asked me five days ago about MLP I would have laughed in a decidedly derisive manner. I've never, ever been interested in girly cartoons or even girly things in general (I've never owned a Barbie in my life, but I still have my entire collection of Beast Wars action figures
).
But after seeing that
Ponycraft 2 vid, and being extremely bored at work with none of my usual tv shows to watch, I thought, hey, what the hell.
Three days later and I've watched all 18 episodes. I'm not exactly sure
why I enjoy it, but I do.
Anyways, here's some stuff it has going for it:
- Good voice acting. Better than a lot of anime/video game dubs, though that's not exactly saying much.
- The characters actually have distinct personalities.
- The animation is pretty good, though I don't watch any other modern cartoons so I can't really compare it to anything.
- It does a good job with its morals - if I had a daughter I'd have her watching this show.
- Derpy Hooves. Especially in the later episodes, when her appearance becomes more and more derp.
- That the creator is fully aware of the odd fanbase this show has attracted and actually acknowledges it in the show. See Derpy Hooves above.
So yeah. If you're bored, give this show a look,
it might surprise you.
