She was indeed great in Tammy which is saying a lot because I thought that movie sucked. She was great recently in SNL too which is also saying a lot since it has been spectacularly sucking since Bland Jost was made head writer.

P.S. That splitdepth gif you have of the charizard fight is really awesome.

Thanks, I can't take all the credit. I googled for badass Charizard gifs and found it :wacky:

Melissa McCarthy was good in "Tammy."

And Spy. And Identity Thief. And her main show, Mike & Molly.

Why the hate on her, Gabe?

If you guys want to see more cool gifs like that check out this subreddit :monster:

I guess maybe I haven't seen a large sample size of her work then. I saw Bridesmaids which was amazing. Identity Thief which imo sucked , and then I saw the one where her and Sandra Bullock were cops which also sucked.

Now that I think on it a bit more her cameo character in This is 40 was also great, but that scene in general was also just really stupid funny lol.

I kinda feel that she's been sorta typecast into a character archetype that I'm not a big fan of.

I don't know what the actual film will be like, but I feel as though I just watched the trailer for the 2002 Scooby-Doo movie.

The last scene made me giggle XD

idk, give me a Pepsi Max and a bucket of popcorn and I'd watch this :monster: I grew up with the original movies (I've seen them like 8 times each) so at least it has some nostalgia effect for me. (I even performed some dance routine to the Ghostbusters song in front of all the parents in 7th grade; good times)

Angry Joe sums things up for me: "What the hell did I just watch?"
(If you don't wanna watch the whole video skip to 6:35.)

Eh...

It doesn't look like a movie made by people who loved the original and want to do it justice.
It looks like a generic by the numbers, focus tested, "But the chart says", money grabber.

It's a shame but I just don't have any hope for this movie.

Also, despite the opening sorta hinting otherwise, this is a 100% reboot — so there isn't any direct reference to the original Ghostbusters in the film. This isn't a "new team" for anything other than the audience.

I was under the impression this was essentially a sequel. Learning it's a hard reboot actually makes me angry.
I'm kind of getting sick of Hollywood hitting the fucking reset button on everything. =/

I'm especially annoyed that the trailer was cut in a way that intentionally hints at something it isn't (a sequel or even a soft reboot). You're setting a totally false expectation by putting it there that's gonna bother people WAY more when they find out than if you hadn't had it there at all.

y'all gonna feel stupid when dan aykroyd shows up in the third act and it turns out it really is a follow-on from the original films

I hope it is good. If it isn't, it could close doors for female leads in hollywood. The force awakens did great things to show hollywood execs that female leads work, especially in scifi and geek genre films. I don't want to give them reason to say no to plans for more female lead films.

DAMN! I felt the hype from that one :O

Okay so in the beginning when news first came out of this I said to myself that it COULD work as long as they acknowledged the original ghostbusters existed and it's not like "Let's pretend the female ones were the only ghostbusters all along"

welp :monster:

I mean it does look better than I was expecting but I feel like it'd do better if it took place after and these girls got together and decided to pick up where the others left off

Why would you think Ghostbusters bombing means no more female leads?

I mean, it's doubtful that we'll lose any more female leads if it bombs, but it would reinforce the notion that shoehorning a bastardized version of diversity into well established franchises never ends well. The latest reboot of the Fantastic Four featuring a black Human Torche is a prime example of its failure.

It fucking bombed. Hard.
Why, you ask? Because it tried to change a franchise in order to appease a small group of people. What Hollywood is trying to force down our throats is almost equivalent to the Democrats sticking a Conservative in the presidential race and calling him Bernie Sanders. He may be Bernie Sanders, but he's still not The Bernie Sanders you know and love.

I just don't like the shoehorning in general. Also, did they have to put the stereotypical loud "black momma" character in there? Coincidentally also the only one that isn't a scientist (that's only for white people?). Her contribution apparently to the team is that she "knows the streets" or something like that... it's a grid, how hard can it be? :monster:. Doesn't do the thing with stereotyping any good (and probably doesn't add comedic value).

I thought the official trailer was ok, nothing mindblowing.

I quite liked the fan cut one, though.

Will probably end up going to see this once I've actually seen the original!

Because of this kind of strange logic:

Fantastic 4 didn't bomb because of racial diversity. It bombed because it was badly written and badly executed.

Studio execs will take from F4's failure that it was because they made human torch black. Even though I dont think I've actually heard anyone complain about that.

They always take the wrong lesson from why something was un/successful
