If we're worried about spam, there is a compromise: IRC chat with channel mode +m. That way, only specific people - staff, in this case - can speak, but everyone else can see the conversation. We could then disable the mode when we invite others to contribute.

Yar, that occurred to me, though there could be cases when people have valid things to say at times when they're muted. Definitely a possibility though.

And skype chats become unlistenable the moment two people open their mouth at the same time, so I don't see a problem there, .

Because I don't see the thread having many posts, and non-contributors not being important to involve (imo) I vote for a staff section thread. Just have it there to make posts and remind the contributing members about the meeting. I had COMPLETELY forgotten about this meeting idea until I just read your post. =/

It sounds like it works well enough for most, though. Honestly, it's going to be too hard to find a time that perfectly accommodates all European and North American staff members.

The schedule at work was missing this week, so it was confirmed to me today I start a shift at 11 pm UK time (midnight my time). Work is usually quite slow during the night but there are the occasional happening that I'll have to handle. I think it'll be fine, just a heads up.
