Ah, I agree with this a lot. The Staff members rarely follow their own rules. That has always irked me a bit.

I can say that as a Staff member, this is partly because when we drafted up the rules, the consensus was more of a quick glance and a 'eh this looks good'.

Honestly I think instead of a long list of convoluted ass rules that can suffer from subjectivity and one persons word against anothers, we should mostly rely on common sense. Sure, we should have guidelines and whatnot, but I'm reminded of a very successful forum that literally only has one rule; "Don't be an ass hat".

There's no need to get defensive. This is a place for people to air grievances, and (in theory) to create some reflection on everyone's pat so that everything can be worked out agreeably. No one's attacking you or anyone else. Deep breath.

It's like a couples therapy session - safe place, say whatever you think without fear or drama, butthurt, or retaliation.

Ah, I'm fine. I'm not RAGING or even angry or anything. I'm just telling it 'how it is' or, rather, how I see it. I know the Internet doesn't have the advantage of word inflection and all that, but I'm calm about all this. I'm just being straight up. I don't feel attacked or anything, but I want to be upfront and put everything on the table.

On the contrary, I think it is! I sort of disagree with a Complaint Thread because the very existence of it assumes that this place is a shithole and it quickly turns into a 'Let's shit on the Staff' sort of thing. Instead, I want this to be more of a 'Suggestion' forum where everyone can toss ideas and be straight up and honest about how they feel about anything.

-The Staff needs to stop relying on these quick fixes like Shoutboxes, spam-esque forums, and all that and instead start doing things that actually require the Staff to put their heads together and think. Anyone can program a silly little addition in. But it takes actual work and teamwork to get together and actually get something done. Interesting ideas, contests, campaigns, promotions, etc. That takes time, effort, and dedication, and so far we've mostly put on the table as a whole are quick fixes.

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I think it's more constructive to have suggestions towards that end rather than complaints. But we can agree to disagree, and I am satisfied with that. After all, it's my own personal opinion and I am not out to change the name of the thread nor its course.

Preferring to look at as suggestions rather than complaints doesn't assume there aren't any problems. I know there are problems with this place. All I'm saying is it's more constructive to call the entire operation a 'Suggestion' thread to offer suggestions to fix the problem, rather than settling at it just being a 'Complaint' thread to complain about them.

But like I said, it's a matter of perspective and I am willing to agree to disagree.

And you guys are two months too late for me to give a damn about this forum. I deeply regret paying for half (or maybe more) of the VB license. Maybe if the forum picks up again I might care again but I refuse to help any more with this site.
