Orphan Black was the best show currently on television and why haven't you watched it yet?

Well they're all raised self-aware by some branch of the military, so I expect that they all have a special brand of being emotionally maladjusted in one form or another.

I had to start watching season 2 again because I had it on in the background - the series is mercifully now on UK Netflix so it's easy to watch. Right now Sarah is masquerading as Cosima at the science event majigger and she ran into hot Paul in the back, who let her go.

Ngl, it's not gripping me like it used to. I think this is the fourth time I've rewatched the first episode since season 2 started last year and I always end up bored, which is a fact I've been too ashamed to admit to X for a whole year XD.

Don't get me wrong, I don't start something without finishing it, and I will watch it. But there's something about the show that's irking me that didn't before. I think it might be accents. There is a subconscious part of me that feels like all of the American accents are fake (every character) even though I know most of them are not, and I think I feel that way because it's so clearly a BBC production that I'm expecting British. Everything about the show is super British really, aside from the setting and most of the characters. The sets even look British sometimes tbh.

It's also annoying the most shallow part of me that someone with a face like Felix's is somehow awash in a sea of buff attractive men. Also he transitions from grating to awesome at the drop of a hat.

I'm sure it'll pick up, it's just not grabbing me right now. I am looking forward to seeing how it develops over this season. And hey it's a good thing, because now I don't have to wait for season 3 XD.

Am I supposed to be liking Helena? Because I do. This may be because I've forgotten abhorrent stuff she did in season 1 idk. Also Kiera's "father" (if he actually is Sarah, you lie about so much) is literally my ideal man. A little bit rough around the edges and looks like he could pound you into oblivi-... anyway, still rolling along.

Not getting this whole phelps family cult who stole Helena's eggs and fertilised one of them thing. It makes literally no sense. Who are they. Who is this little ginger bitch with her mouth sewn shut. Wtf is going on.

lol Helena is eating raw noodles.

I wish they'd forget about the cop thing, still pretending it's somehow relevant. It adds zero to the show.

lol caught KY Jelly handed

Dr. Liki has Alan Rickman jaw/voice, but not in the awesome Alan Rickman way. In the mumbly way. In the I can't understand what you're saying, please stop over-acting way.

Don't ever feel bad about saying things like that. I always find it easier to get into things when watching the last episode that I enjoyed and THEN breaking back into it. (See how long it took me to watch the last 3 episode of the latest season of Game of Thrones).

I like that you are all gushy about Cal. He is mega attractive.

It's totally cool to like Helena, 'cause she's a psychotic product of her environment with a little ray of light from Season 1. Additionally, the cult is a slightly less dogmatic branch of the same thing that Tomas and Helena were already a part of, but more accepting of science and things because of reasons (that will become clear eventually).

You might think that some things (like the bits with the Cops) are irrelevant, but they all sit around for moments that they are exceptionally important as the story progresses.

Yeah, one of the lovely things about this show is that there is absolutely no filler. If something or someone doesn't seem important immediately, just keep watching; it or they will become important eventually, even if it takes a season or more to do so. There are characters introduced this season who, according to the creators, won't become important until next season, for example, and there are entire plot lines that seem like red herrings until the protagonists uncover further aspects of the conspiracies driving the main plot line. In a lot of ways this show reminds me of what Lost was trying to be (but didn't entirely succeed at being): a tightly written conspiracy thriller where each season takes the scope of the previous season and expands on it substantially.

Finished.

Interesting stuff, I was
expecting a male clone thingie at some point, but I'd be lying if I said I expected it to be ~random crazy church dude~, I actually thought it would be Felix. Uh what's up with Siobhan giving up Helena?

I found I lost interest about half way through season 2, then I'd watch the next episode and was wrapped again, then my interest would go down. After a while it became that thing I have to watch and I was glad I made myself do it. I just put it down to my not liking the whole week by week drip feeding process. I'd rather just watch episodes together at my own pace. But maybe there is something more to it?

I think it would help is Sarah was a bit more likeable as a character, while I root for her, I'm more rooting for Helena cos she's got more to overcome as a character, soccer mom & dreadlock gal too for that matter. And at what point does Felix just say, 'You are totally fucking up my life! Piss off, I'm done being your go to doormat'? The guys Sarah hooks up with should be saying that too, I mean why is everyone falling over themselves to hep a not very likeable person? I have to admit I tend to watch it more for the wacky adventures of soccer mom and the psychotic adventures of Helena now cos they are at least more likeable than world on her shoulders, dumps her kid with whoever is round Sarah!

Tbh out of Clone Club Sarah is the one I like the least. She's just a bit bland, has a bit of designated hero, and the other clones are more entertaining and interesting to watch.

I think I need to rewatch season 2. I haven't watched it since it aired and it'd be nice to watch it in chunks rather than one episode per week. I thought the first season was better than the second (which was still good), but I don't know if it's because of actual issues with the second or if it's just because I was able to marathon the first and didn't have to wait a week between episodes. Not that I'm gonna wait until season 3 is done to watch it, I don't have that kind of self control.

This is sort of how I feel about Sarah. I don't necessarily dislike her, but she's just a lot less interesting to me than the others. I also think her comparative blandness was less noticeable in the first season because watching her try to pull off impersonating Beth was pretty interesting and because she and the audience were in sort of in the same spot of not knowing anything about the clone stuff.

I actually think season 2 as a whole is better than season 1, because there's a bit more character exploration and that's really what I'm interested in. What irked me about season 2 is a kind of Lost Syndrome, whereby answers are given in small parts rather than in full.

On the whole, the characters have developed and there were some revelations, but I'm not all that into the fact that
we essentially ended up with Cosima in the same predicament she was at the end of season 1, just in a worse state. Like they literally could have done that in one episode rather than the back and forth. And it's annoying because one of those interviews seemed to hint that Cosima being sick would be a big part of season 3, and I'm worried about that because hello we just had a season of that? Kinda dumb.

I'm not saying the story didn't go anywhere this season, of course it did. But really if you look at the thing as a whole, we're left with the same mysterious circumstances we had at the beginning with just a few extra bits of information. Not that I want all the answers right now - it just makes me uneasy. If I had some sort of Joss Whedon or J.K.Rowling style assurance that the overall plot has been worked out with contingencies for getting cancelled, I'd be less anxious about how it's going to go. But time and time again media has shown us that when it's not planned out, it ends up sub-par. And I'm not sure which camp this falls into yet.

For anyone interested, the Scorpion was introduced in issue #2 of the comic. I'm crazy excited to see where it goes. This was all good setup, and I'm excited to see how it plays out.

I still need to read that. Are there just the first two issues so far?

Detailed comments about the episode pending, most likely. I'm still reeling from how good that was. Fuck, I missed this show.

Comics read. They're great too. The artwork is some of the most gorgeous I think I've ever seen (I loved the multiple alternate covers for Sarah's issue), and they definitely do give some new insight into the characters. If they release a collected trade paperback I'll definitely want to pick that up.

I have some work to get done, but when it's done I'll post detailed thoughts on the première.

Just blazed through first two seasons of this. Awesome show.

Something's up with Cal. Nobody reacts that calmly to a dead cop (a friend, no less) on their doorstep, without asking more questions, especially dealing with somebody that robbed them last time they met.

Vic has no luck at all.

How did the Prolethians get from 'kill all clones' to 'propagate all clones' I get that Thomas doesn't see eye to eye with the other guy, but that's a pretty fundamental difference of opinion.

I'm really hoping Tatiana Maslany gets paid like six salaries, this show must be really hard work.

Looks like they're currently planning to end the current story with season five. Fawcett hasn't ruled out the possibility of more episodes after that but he says it would require a "reinvention" of the show. Additionally, we'll get hints of seasons 4 and 5 by the end of this season.

While the fact that the show may only air fifty episodes is a bit frightening, it's also gratifying to know that they have a solid plan mapped out in advance. Not that I ever had any doubt of this.
