Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday

I think it MIGHT make it more manageable if they were only after the game, but really the entire tone of the first Parasite Eve isn't something that I could EVER imagine playing through in a maid outfit / bunnygirl costume / suit of armour. It's got a DARK, creepy tone, and it's quite mature.

Mature =\= partial nudity.


Plus, it's not like there's a good reason to even be focusing on what she wears, aside from the fact that it gets shredded by bullets. There's just no real point to having them at all, aside from attempted fanservice, which is totally missing what would actually emphasize Aya as an attractive character, and just trading it for sexploitation, which doesn't fit her character.


While not completely making my point, look at it this way. The Zack in board shorts scene in Crisis Core was fanservice, but it was fanservice done right, because it was brief and he was on a damn beach. Now imagine if you had the option to run him around like that through the entire game, and had a bunch of other crotch emphasizing outfits with codpieces, etc? AND it had an unlockable scene of him changing clothes in a SOLDIER locker room.

See how it fucks with your ability to relate to his story/character when they pile a bunch of needless shit on top of it that doesn't really fit his character? THAT'S how I feel about some of this shit in T3B.

But the whole costume thing is pretty ridiculous. Especially since they're all horrible. Apart from the Lightning outfit, that's a cool idea.

I seriously don't know whether I'm still going to bother with this game. =P

I feel like it's implying that all gamers are horny little 14 year olds that just want to see naked women and giggle and jerk off. Male gamers (and females as well) want a character to be more than that. I find it insulting to the male intelligence. (Well, what little there is of it )

I wish we would see the makers stand up against these notions and don't pander to it. Instead they add a shower scene because people kept asking "will there be a shower scene lolz". I don't really mind that being there, depending on how tasteful they keep it, but still. Doesn't necessarily spoil things like the cheap costumes do.

I feel like the stuff they are doing to Aya is over the top, and it cheapens her character. I mean, a couple of sexy outfits (that fit in with the theme) wouldn't be so bad. But combined with all the other crap, it's unnecessary.

I don't mind the idea of sexy costumes (see Ada Wong), or silly ones, but the trouble is most of these aren't that sexy or are boring. They look like sex shop novelty outfits. Except for the two defaults (white jacket and the black shirt and jeans) and the Lightning one, the only one that looks remotely attractive is actually the swim wear. Maid outfits or bunny girls, I never really understood anyway.

Some of them could be improved by altering them a bit, like the suit (remove that second belt and get rid of the silly choker thing, maybe lengthen the skirt a bit and cover her midriff) or the China dress (ada wong ada wong ada wong/scrap the little heart-shaped cleavage window and lower the shirt's hemline). Stuff like her PE1 evening wear or PE2 MIST outfit would have made more interesting and meaningful choices than a bloody maid or bunny costume. I guess there's the possibility of DLC later on, but it doesn't erase that they did this shit in the first place.

The bunny outfit's description mentions it being used for infiltration missions. If that's actually a game reference (

), then maybe. If it's not, then. Yeah.

I fail to realize the correlation between a decent story from Parasite Eves 1-2, proper characterization for Aya that she justly deserves, and SE acting like a bunch of idiots by making this stupid claim.

Also, Europe is getting a Twisted Edition of the game.

I hope that PE1 & 2 hit PSN soon, espicially after reading about all the crazy Red Tape that it takes to re-release them.

IGN puzzles me, they always score the exact opposite of what I expect. Its rare that I even go there, but I can't help but wonder if their bewildering scores are some sort of scheme to get me to come back out of sheer curiosity.
