Probably rather obvious, but all the Vita games will be downloadable.

There's also been some news about using the Sixaxis controls to look around cover in the new Resistance: Burning Skies.

Also, there's going to be a new Assassin's Creed some time in 2012, in addition to Lumines, Asphalt, Dungeon Hunter Alliance, Michael Jackson the Experience, and Rayman Origins for Vita.

It's also getting social apps, aside from Party & Near, in the form of Skype, FourSquare, Twitter, & Facebook.
(Here's to hoping there'll be a Google+ one as well).

On a related, but non-Vita note:

They're also launchining a new PSP in Europe, without WiFi for €99. (At least the older UMD games will still have something to be played on this way).

Last, but not least, the 160GB PS3 is getting a price drop: $249.99 in NA, €249.99 in Europe, & ¥24,980 in Japan.

Here's some more that I'd missed from earlier. Some of them are completely new, and the others are looking quite good.

I honestly don't consider a 99 euro PSP with less functionality an improvement over, say, a simple price drop of the currently existing models.

I paid about 130 bucks for a preowned 2000 model, I'd much rather they drop that to a 99 dollar average :monster:

edit: also omg the new Wipeout looks like the sex

Official specs about the Vita's RAM:

More is always better, right? For Sony's upcoming PlayStation Vita portable, more RAM means it has some features that big brother PlayStation 3 doesn't: namely, cross-game chat, courtesy of the console's Party system. "So the reason why we were able to include something like Party, which enables cross-game voice chat," Sony Worldwide Studios prez Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer, "is because we designed Vita so it always has enough resources to handle something like that behind the game while it's running."

Sony has finally confirmed the specifications of the system's RAM, after rumors that the electronics giant had halved the RAM to better compete on price with the 3DS. "There were some rumours for the last few months. Some developer mentioned the RAM was halved. We never announced the amount of RAM, and we never changed it," Yoshida said. So in order to combat confusion, they went into Gamescom unafraid to share those details.

And, without further ado, we'll share those deets! The PlayStation Vita has 512MB of RAM and 128MB of V-RAM, compared to the PlayStation 3's 256MB of system RAM and 256MB of video RAM. While that's half of the PS3's video RAM, Yoshida reminds us that the resolution of the two platforms is very different. "The resolution on the PS Vita screen is much lower," he explained. "Even though it's four times the resolution of PSP, compared to the console, the amount of data you have to push is much smaller."

While this all sounds like good news, there is another reading: Since the Vita uses all that extra system RAM to allow for cross-game chat, one could assume Sony will remain unable to implement the long-requested feature on the PS3. Then again, nearly five years into the console's life, that inability should be pretty apparent to everyone by now.

Vita's getting a port of Persona 4, as well as a Persona Fighting Game.

Atlus is giving future PlayStation Vita owners something to get excited about: a portable port of the PlayStation 2 game Persona 4, reportedly due for release in Japan in 2012 and packing lots of enhancements.

Japanese retailer blog Sinobi reports that Persona 4: The Golden, as it's supposedly called, adds new animation, at least one new character and new voice acting to the Japanese RPG. It also adds wireless support, which Andriasang says lets players "[call] on others to help you when you're about to die in a dungeon." A Vita Persona is great news as is, but for Atlus to give it a bit more polish is even better.

In less expected news, a Persona fighting game is also reportedly in the works by BlazBlue developer Arc System Works. The fighter, Persona 4 The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena, is reportedly due to hit arcades in spring 2012, with a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version hitting later that summer.

I've read somehting about this on GI. I thought about buying it becase: (A) It has trophies xDD and (B) my PSP is already so scratched...but is not dead. In any way if I buy this it will be after my current portable dies which will be...not now :monster:

I think that P4P, despite the lack of a female protagonist option, will probably be one of the biggest reasons that I'll buy a Vita if I do end up getting one. Although I'm pretty sure the fighting game won't be on the Vita, only on the 360/PS3.

Not sure if anyone else is familiar with the game, but DJMax Technika (the touchscreen-arcade game version of DJMax) is coming to Vita as well!

They're definitely pushing this thing forward, aren't they? :monster: At least they'll get the jump on Nintendo, considering they're taking a big hit with the 3DS sucking.

I still think they're taking a bit too long, the 3DS will probably pick up some steam over Christmas. But I guess they're stuck, if they launch with no games they'll be in the same boat.

If it's not ready and they launch, and there's problems... then they wouldn't have capitalized on anything.

D'you guys remember the good old days, where consoles came out with a definitively good series of launch titles primed to be released from day one of sales? :monster:

There are some Vitas in fancy, non-black colors (no silver though, :( ).

Also, here's a look at the AR functions in Reality Fighters that're pretty rad. (The Vita will ship with six AR cards.)

Also, in addition to the large list of launch titles, they're also looking to find a way to get your UMD-only games on Vita. If that works, I will play the ever-living bajeezus out of Crisis Core, if the second stick lets you control the camera when you're wandering. I can't even mention how many times I wanted to look up in that game.

Also, Katamari.

I dun get it. The damn thing looks exactly like the PSP Slim. That said I'm a portable gaming system fanatic so if has even one good game on it I'll be all over it. Were there games announced for it that I missed?

I'd check through the other pages of the thread. This thing is WAY more than a PSP Slim, and it's got a huge number of games announced, quite a good number of which look excellent.
