Okay, it's -partly- a joke....sometimes I kinda like the wacky ideas.

With Genesis, what makes it so fun is how people absolutely loathe him for some reason...I'm intrigued by the reaction he gets from the fanbase. If he ever does show up it will be genuinely funny just to see the way people react.

He's attention-hog, the character. To the point I feel like Crisis Core is more about him than Zack in some ways. I guess I'd be concerned he'd steal the show if he appeared in a significant way, and not in a good way.

I trust everyone in this thread to speculate responsibly... we can all admit when our predictions are wrong... we are not copium huffing buttholes like the Attack on Titan fandom. Although if you exhibit any symptoms such as the urge to blurt kino, chad or based then I recommend you log out and touch grass for 10 days.

On the surface it is innocent enough, and I agree it's pretty natural, but the insidious side of things is the biases people form along the way. The Attack on Titan fandom is what really put me off to it, but even here I feel like people's already negative feelings will be magnified by other people's increasingly ridiculous galaxy-brained takes. In the long run it creates a more hostile environment, as people who already had low opinions of what Square is doing will just assume worse with time, and what should be a fun way to pass the time becomes something pretty dour and stressful.
I think after too much energy spent on being cynical about everything, I’m at a point where I really don’t care if a story doesn’t go the way I hope as long as it does what it wants to do well enough. Honestly, and this is by no means meant to downplay anybody else’s feelings, but FF7R could turn out to be an absolute mess and I’ll be fine. Disappointed, maybe, but my attitude will always come back to the very simple point that the OG still exists. If the last few years of gaming have proven anything, it’s that sometimes things just don’t go our way. Hell, that’s probably the most valuable life lesson I took away from FF7.

Look, if cynism really is the way through life, I’d rather divert that energy away from perpetual disappointment and instead towards nihilism: none of this crap matters anyways so let the pieces fall where they may lol

0.17CLOUD: I can't hold on to me....what's wrong with me?
0.85SEPHIROTH: I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time.
4.36AERITH: It wasn't because I didn't know enough -- I just knew too much.
4.52TIFA: I really feel that I'm losing my best friend...

To be fair, Cid is literally sleeping when he's nominated to be the party's leader. And when he is leader, nothing significant happens to him character development-wise. As for Tifa, she's party leader for such a brief time that it's more of a footnote.

So don't both of those seem much better opportunities for the Remake to expand upon rather than replacing them entirely with the dead guy?

Exactly, I expect Remake to be better than the OG on that side. Notably because Tifa drops her tough woman behaviour then, and lot of people missed it. As for Cid, it's a golden opportunity for him too, to show that he can be a great leader and pilot the Highwind! To finally let the past in the past and accept himself as he is.

Based on what I remember, it would be more fitting to have that be a one on one battle with Cid. Or at least have him as a mandatory party member in the battle

The question is....did Roth even know Hojo was the father when he snapped in Nibelheim? Never been able to find any real answer for that, but it seems like he didn't know.

Maybe in the research logs? He read about jenova and i cna see hojo write something like "i produces a fitting specimen. He goes by the name sephiroth" or something like that. He doesnt care at all about sephiroth besides his research so why care about his feelings at all?
