南大陸が新たな統率のもとに安定した時代を迎えると、東大陸から人々の移住が増加していった。それにともない、多くのクヴェルやその知識も南大陸へ伝わり、南大陸独自の研究が発展していくのである。
♦Growth of [jutsu] in the Southern Continent (800's, 900's)♦
When the Southern Continent entered a period of stability under new leadership, it saw an increase in people migrating from the Eastern Continent. They also brought along with them many Quells and knowledge, and research unique to the Southern Continent began to advance.
ツールの発明 ８００年頃
南大陸においてのクヴェルの研究はある結論に達する（クヴェル史総括参照）。そして８００年頃、新帝国領のフォーゲラングで、クヴェルに変わるアニマの媒介道具、ツールが発明開発されるのである。このクヴェルに頼らない新たな術は、クヴェルを持たない庶民層に強く支持され、たちまち南大陸全土に浸透した。そして、あらたな社会体制を確立させるのである。
The Invention of Tools around 800
Quell research in the Southern Continent reached its conclusion (see Summary of the History of Quell). And at around year 800, in the new imperial territory of Vogelang [in Vogelang in the territory of the new empire], instruments for channelling anima which transforms into Quell were invented and developed. This new [jutsu], which did not rely on Quell, found strong support from the common people who did not possess Quell, and quickly spread across the entire Southern Continent. And thus it established a new societal structure.

ツール術の発達は南大陸の庶民生活を豊かにしていった。もともと、南大陸ではクヴェルによる術文明に頼らず、人間みずからが作り出した道具によって生活を営んできていた。その生活に術が使えるツールが浸透したのである。その汎用性や可能性は幅広く、道具とツールの融合はさらに進化していく。庶民の生活は便利になり、商業が活性化されていった。
Advancement of Tools 900's
The advancement of Tools brought prosperity to the lives of the common people of the Southern Continent. Originally the people of the Southern Continent had made a living using devices created by mankind and not reliant on the [jutsu] culture based on Quell. With its wide-ranging versatility and potential, the fusion of Tools and existing devices progressed further. The lives of the common people became more convenient, and commerce was revitalised.

ツールの発明は南大陸の繁栄を更に拡大していく。安定した生活を庶民に与えたツールは商業の中心的商品となり、貿易を活性化し多くの商人を排出している。そして、１０００年代に入る頃になると東大陸と南大陸を結ぶ快速艇が開発され、東大陸との貿易も盛んになっていった。当然、多くのツールが東大陸へ持ち込まれることになる。
♦ Maturation of Tool [jutsu] Civilization (1000~1200) ♦
The invention of Tools further magnified the prosperity of the southern continent. Tools, which gave the common people stability in their lives, became the central commodity for commerce, invigorating foreign trade and expelling many merchants*. And when entering the 1000's, an express ship connecting the eastern and southern continents was developed, and trade with the eastern continent also began to flourish. Naturally, this leads to a large number of Tools being brought brought to the eastern continent.
(* I am wondering if this is a typo and what it meant was 輩出 (produce many merchants) rather than 排出 (expel [something unneeded] many merchants).
フィニー王国の建国 １０８８年
東大陸に持ち込まれたツールは、瞬く間に広がり数世代後には大陸全土に浸透している。クヴェルによって地位を確保してきた支配層に反発され、一部地域で西方伝来の術を禁止する動きもあったが、庶民を中心とした層への広がりは異常な早さであった。そのなかで、いち早く軍事との融合に着目したのがフィニー王国である。
フィニー王国はツールの利用によって、他国より強力な軍団を作り上げたのだ。クヴェルより質は劣っても量的に圧倒できるツール部隊は地の領主の軍勢を駆逐し、フィニー王国建国の礎を作り上げたのだ。
Foundation of the Kingdom of Finney 1088
The Tools brought into the eastern continent spread in no time and several generations later have permeated the entire continent. The ruling classes who had secured their status with Quell opposed it, and in some regions there were movements to have [jutsu] introduced from the west forbidden, but the spread to the other classes centring on the common people was extraordinarily fast. And it was the Kingdom of Finney who first set sights on merging them with its military.
The Kingdom of Finney, through utilising Tools, created an army more powerful than those of other nations. Making up for Tools' lesser quality compared with Quell through overwhelming numbers, its Tool corps drove out the forces of the other lords and created the basis for the founding of the Kingdom of Finney.

ツール文化の弊害倫理則
庶民生活の深くまで浸透したツールは思わぬ弊害を生んだ。確かに時代的には連帯や誓約などを基礎にした社会構成により、安定した発展をする世界となっていたが、術の使えない者たちにとってそれは取り残されるだけの社会であり、術不能者として迫害される時代の幕開けとなった。
もともと通常の道具による文化を保有していた南大陸ではそのような迫害はなかったものの、東大陸では通常の人間としての生活が営めないほどの差別社会と化したのである。

Ethical code regarding the negative influence of Tools civilization
Tools, having deeply permeated the lives of the common people, gave rise to unexpected ills. While historically the societal structure founded on the basis of concepts like solidarity and the Oath undoubtedly made a stably developing world, those who couldn't use [jutsu] found themselves merely left behind by society, and so began an era of oppression against the people incapable of using [jutsu].
Although such persecution was not found in the southern continent, which had originally possessed a culture based on standard [tools/equipment], the eastern continent had transformed into a society of discrimination where one could not make a living as an ordinary person.

帝国国内が不安定になるにつれ、南大陸への移住者は増えていった。特に４００年、皇帝の血族が南大陸へ渡ったことにより、平民だけでなく貴族などの支配階層の移住が進んだのである。当然、貴族とともにクヴェルとその知識も南大陸へ伝来する。いままで南大陸には先行文明の遺物が存在せず、クヴェルを利用する術も存在していなかった。これは、先行文明が存在した時代、南大陸が非常に乾燥していたためだと考えられる。そんな世界にクヴェルが伝わったのであった。
■ Summary of the History of Quell – The Birth of Tools
As the empire grew unstable, more people emigrated to the southern continent. In 400 in particular, when the kinsfolk of the emperor crossed over to the southern continent, saw an increase in immigration not only of commoners but also the ruling classes such as the aristocracy. Of course, the aristocracy also introduced Quell and knowledge of it to the southern continent. Until this point there had not been any relics of earlier civilization or means of utilising Quell in the southern continent. It was believed that this was due to the southern continent being extremely arid during the period when the earlier civilization had existed. Quell was brought into such a land.

クヴェルは絶大な力を発揮する。当然、南大陸の支配層もクヴェルの力を欲するようになった。力ある者はどんな手段を用いてもクヴェルを入手しようとした。だが、ここである問題が生じる。奪い取ったある種のクヴェルは、南大陸の人が用いても効力が発揮されなかったのだ。
そこで、帝国から移住した知識人を中心に、新たな術の研究が進められる。さまざまな研究や実験の末、ある仮説が提示された。それは、「術に必要なのは力の源＝アニマであり、アニマの力を引き出すには、媒質となる物体が必要である」というものであった。
これは術はクヴェルがなくとも使える、という画期的な考えであった。当然、この思想は貴族などクヴェルの恩恵を受けた者によって死活問題であり、彼らはさまざまな手段を用い弾圧排除しようとする。だが、穏健派による統治がなされていたグリューゲルでは弾圧されるようなことはなく、逆に国家による保護の下で術の研究は大いに進んだ。
● 500's
Quell displayed immense power. Naturally the ruling class of the southern continent also began to desire the power of Quell for themselves. The powerful would stop at nothing to obtain Quell. However, a problem arose here. Certain types of the stolen Quell would not manifest a notable effect when used by people from the southern continent.
So research into new [jutsu] was carried out, with intellectuals who migrated from the empire at the centre of it. After much study and experimentation, a hypothesis was put forth: [jutsu] required anima, a source of power, and in order to bring out the power of anima an object to act as a medium is needed.
This was a revolutionary idea that [jutsu] could be used even without Quell. This ideology was a matter of life or death for those who had reaped the benefits of Quell like the aristocracy, and they tried to suppress and eliminate it through various means at their disposal. However in Gruegel, which was governed by a moderate faction, there was not attempts to suppress it, conversely [jutsu] research progressed greatly under the protection of the state.

研究はさらに進歩し、クヴェルのイミテーション製作へ移っていく。これは人間が自らの手でクヴェルを作り出そうとする試みであった。だが、その道のりは険しく、相次ぐ失敗に研究は頓挫しかけていた。そんなおりフォーゲラングの近郊で感応石の鉱脈が発見されるのである。感応石とはアニマに反応する鉱物であり、この石を媒体とすることで研究の難関突破が計れたのである。

Research advanced even further, and moved into production of imitation Quell. This was an attempt to create Quell by human hands. However the road was arduous, and the continual failures nearly brought the research to a standstill. At this point a lode of [sympathetic stones] was discovered on the outskirts of Vogelang. A [sympathetic stone] is a mineral which reacts to anima, and with these stones as a medium they had found a way past the deadlock in their research.

そして８００年、幾多の苦難を乗り越え新たな術の解釈のもと、新帝国領のフォーゲラングでクヴェルに変わるアニマの媒介道具、ツールが発明開発された。このクヴェルに頼らない新たな術は一般術（General Art）と呼ばれ、クヴェルを持たない庶民層にまで広がったことで、新たな社会体制を確立させたのである。

And in 800, after overcoming numerous difficulties and reaching a new understanding of [jutsu], Tools, an anima medium to replace Quell, were invented and developed in New Empire's territory of Vogelang. This new [jutsu] which did not rely on Quell was called 'General Arts', and with its spread to the the common classes it established a new societal structure.

604 ●The last landlord leaves the central plains
The final landlord leaves the central plains, which are now becoming uninhabitable due to the mass appearance of monsters. And so the central plains becomes the Lordless Land.
８００年　●ツール発明、フォーゲラングで開発始まる
新帝国の下、繁栄しはじめていた南大陸ではクヴェルの研究が進み、ついに南大陸の辺境フォーゲラングでツールの開発がはじまる。

In the southern continent, which had begun to prosper under the new empire, Quell research progresses, and eventually development of Tools begins in Vogelang at the [outskirts] of the southern continent.

In the Merchmin region, which had seen continued clashes between rival barons due to the chaos of war, Gustave Eugis went from a mere common soldier to gaining dominance of Thermes and becoming the Lord of Bath.

952 ● The new empire discontinues the use of its imperial name. Under the name 'Na', it becomes a lenient allied nation
The new empire founded in the southern continent discontinues the use of its imperial title, and becomes a kingdom named 'Na' instead. Furthermore, the federation of states also changes into a lax body of allied nations.
