Scenes you expect to see in HD

Hi everyone! I was watching the thread about the location in the remake and came to my mind that now we gonna see the expresion of all the characters in every scene (more and lees).

In the OG we have scenes that made us love the game: the escape from the Shinra HQ with the Hardy Daytona, Aerith's death, Nibelheim incident...

Personaly I want to see the Reunion in the North Crater from CD2, specially when Cloud finds his "true self". Now we can see his body language and expressions, even in the OG was very explicit with his movements (min 6:00):

So, what scenes expected you to see in HD?

I'm kinda looking forward to seeing Tseng all stabbited and Aerith being all 'I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING'

but I dunno...I mean maybe it's just me but I feel like SE don't have their characters being fully expressive, because they think looking cool/pretty is priority number one. So I think it's going to feel a bit....meh. When there are scenes in FFVII where characters should be looking hideous and tear streaked and blotchy because [INSERT TERRIBLE THING THAT HAPPENED]

I hope the remake proves me wrong.

Yus. Show me anyone ugly crying and SE will have won the game.

I'm terrified they're going to fuck up "the reveal" at the end of the Lifestream sequence. I want it to be modernised, perfect, and faithful to the original. I want to see him taking the helmet off, the music to kick in at the right point, and even his body to move the same way. That scene is the one for me. The one that inspired a passionate love of gaming that's never gone away. The one that made me realise storytelling in games could rival and surpass movies and even books. It's my single favourite moment in all of gaming. And I have a pretty valid fear they aren't going to do it justice.

I believe that FF XV will give us a sense about SE's capacity (or not) to make these kinds of scenes. Remember Hajime Tabata mentioning about trying to properly render emotional moments in the game - we'll see what they can do.

Thumbs up for sharing that - while this scene didn't have as much impact on me as it did for you, I do find it is one of the strong moments in the story. I guess you'll have to stand by what your signature is saying ;)

I wouldn't call Barret ugly, but I hope he'll lose those stupid sunglasses at some point so that when Dyne committs suicide we'll be able to see tears form and fall from his eyes and the full pure angst and sorrowed yelling at Corel Prison.

Who would take off the helmet? Cloud, or Kunsel? And if anything, they might, and do say dare say might, combine both or pick whichever they would like to place in the remake best or recreate Zack's death scene all over again(for the recreating the death scene again though, I hope that doesn't happen).

I know I cried at the ending of Type-0 and at Rem's temporarely death before she was revived along with Machina(but then the new added scene in the HD remaster ruined the game all together).

Knowing me, I'll most likely end up crying at every emotional moments in FFXV, which includes it's ending.

But I'm pretty sure Tseng will survive, but having Aerith cry briefly due to the severe injuries will be emotional and it'll twice as hard of a hit when she dies and he is mentioned to be thought dead until he reuights with the other Turks.(because via translation mislead, in the correct translating, Tseng was mentioned to be injured but still alive).

Onto my own hopeful in seeing in HD.

Number one: Rufus looking thoroughly annoyed with Heidegger's "Stupid Horse Laugh".

Number two: Barret's expression when Cloud jokingly comments, "You look like a Teddy Bear wearing a Marshmellow" at Costa Del Sol.

Number three: Reno's expression when he discovers Rude has a crush on Tifa and also discovers Elena's crush on Tseng.

Number four: Don Corneo's death(despite that I'm not much of a death character fan, but it's nice to see disgusting people like this guy die-off screen anyway).

Number five: Wutai and Da Chao Mountain, and I'm looking forward in seeing the Forgotten City in HD again. In Advent Children/Complete, it was absolutely beautiful that makes me wish it was real so that I can explore it.

Number six: Reno's expression when he realises Cloud is still alive.

Number seven: Cait Sith's/Reeve's comment in hating Scarlet and revealing this to Barret when he helps him and Tifa escape Junon.

Number eight: Cloud's mind sequence.

Number nine: Save the giant Condor Fort mini game.

Number ten: Jade WEAPON fight.

Number eleven: Final battle against Sephiroth.

Number twelve: The Lifestream fusing with Holy Magic.

Number thirteen: A new scene depending on the Player's actions-for example, like in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, a Normal Ending which gives out the same ending as the original game.

A Good ending which we see humanity rebuilding their lives to the point of Advent Children and some new scenes from On the Way to a Smile novellas.

A True Ending, seeing through year three years to after the ending of Dirge of Cerberus, while also leading to the original ending 500 years later.

And finally, a new secret ending related to the secret endingin Dirge of Cerberus.

Oh yes, and number fourteen: The Gold Saucer.

How do you figure? It's a proof of concept video that has nothing to do with the rest of the game.

I still don't know who the fuck Kunsel is, other than a guy who was friends with Zack and has a rather unfortunate name. But, he doesn't belong in that scene (at the end of the Lifestream flashback) at all.

I think you're misunderstanding what I was saying. When Tseng is injured (and most of us here were already aware that he didn't actually die) Aerith is crying, she pretends shes not crying when Cloud talks to her but shes clearly upset about Tseng. Thats what I was referring to. Not Aeriths death.

Also, I think Aeriths death scene was perfect as it was (dated CGI aside) it's more of a shock, it's more or less an insta-kill. To have her cry out or anything...I dunno, I think it would cheapen the impact personally.

All I want is for them to make the animation a lot more subtle than in Crisis Core. The gestures are way OTT, especially when Sephiroth discovers the truth. Its likely down to the lack of expression in the models, like in the original. There's 1 gesture cloud does that worries me in the remake footage we've seen. When he says "Not interested", he does this hand gesture that seems really off.

@Tasha- When Cloud takes his helmet off revealing he was a Shinra Soldier instead of actually in SOLDIER, right after Omega Weapon attacks.

@Octo- Aerith's death is one I'm looking forward to, just because of how emotional it's gonna get. Also if you look closely at the CGI scene, there are soo many mistakes that I hope and shouldn't be in the remake. By mistakes I mean consistencies out the ass.

Like Sephiroth without gloves, then he has gloves on. The floor changes like 3 times, and Aerith is facing the opposite direction she should be. This is why I would like a remake of that scene in particular.(But the OG will always be a gem no doubt).

Also I really want to see the remake of the Nibelheim flashback with it being from Cloud's fake prescriptive.

And the Weapons, they are going to look so awesome I can't wait.

In terms of the emotional stuff, I'm looking forward to pretty much each of the tragic back-story reveals - Barret's back-story and the Dyne fight, Cid's failed space-venture and when he realizes the truth, Nanaki finding out the truth about his father etc.

But, just in terms of the spectacle and pure epic factor of it all the reveal of Safer Sephiroth and finally, the showdown in life-stream wins hands down.

I'd argue that those are arguably the best showdowns in video-game history, simply because of A.) how epically out of proportion and scale Safer Sephiroth is as a boss compared to anything else you've faced up to that point (not in terms of difficulty mind you), with the trippy whirlwind sky back-drop, the wings and the halo, and the Super-Nova "summon" (I know this messed with my head so much when it first happened because I was going "hey, enemies are not supposed to have summons! WTF!), and B.) because Sephiroth is so hyped as a villain throughout the game.

Love or hate Sephiroth as a character - but they way they built him up as a villain by allowing you to have him in your party during the flash-back, and have you tailing "him" doing all sorts of crazy along the way, then having him kill Aerith, and then topping it off with the god mode and the summon just really blows the magnitude of his impact on the experience.
When you then finally get to actually finish him off in human form with the Omnislash, it really just creates what I consider to be the most rewarding boss-finishing moments ever created (with the final showdown of MGS1 and 4 tied at a close second), and seeing that in updated graphics could be fantastic.

It does? It looks to me like he's just dismissively waving off what Wedge said. While also resembling a gesture the old lego model would make.

Inconsistencies with Aerith's death scene?

Like how she lost her ribbon, is wearing it again, then isn't wearing it? :monster:

Yea like that. Which I actually give a pass since they would've had to make a whole other character model for her without a ribbon, which isn't to bad. Also i realized the spelling mistakes I made in my post.

"Floor chances 3 like three times"... god dammit.

Edit- @Hian, I couldn't agree more with your statement. I've also really want to see what Bizzaro Sephiroth looks like to, because even if the remake fails at everything it was suppose to, the graphics of the game will still be on point(which some would argue is the point of the remake).

Actually things like the Materia Keeper, Gi Leader, the Prod-buster, almost all the bosses and enemies I can't wait to see a remake for. Especially the Shinra Soldiers in Red, and the 1sts where you take down Hojo... wonder if one of them is Kunsel.

Theres just something about it that seems overblown. I dont really want them referencing the old animations too much. The gestures in the OG are a result of the limitations of the models, so charicatured animations were the way to get things across. Like Barret acting like a gorilla waving his arms around.

If they worked in certain gestures that Cloud and Zack shared, certain things could work, since Aerith says later on that they have similar manerisms.

As long as manerisms inform the character, i'm fine with it. They did a decent job in AC for the most part. But there is some OTT stuff in that, like when Vincent shows that he doesnt have a phone.

So much pessimism around here, I know SE can mess up it but if we cried with the ending of Type-0 there are still a little hope, that's what I think.

And I don't want Genesis and Angeal in the game.

^Lore wise they shouldn't do that, so you've got nothing to worry about. It would completely derail the game.

I'll definitely grant you the Vincent-phone one, that one was always strange. Though, Vincent was always rather thematic, doing weird flips and shit just to get to his spot on the Highwind, and how he only runs as though he's ducking under something. But I'm still not following on the dismissive Cloud one. Do you never raise your hand above your waist in conversation or something? :monster:

It's not dismissive at all, it's like a "come to me" gesture with the fingers curling inwards and towards Cloud. Dismissive would be palm of your hand facing outwards.
It makes no sense at all tbh.

a lot in game and to me it seemed like a throw back to that. I mean, every FF game had it's go-to for mannerisms for characters (Tidus and his stupid hand gesture as if he's a waiter when he's explaining shit) but I think they'll be less frequent/more varied.
