Well, why isn't there some board of qualified judges instead of board members who don't know enough about this stuff to judge the technical best?

Or at least some kind of mandatory training course that shows people how to recognize which tag is the best?

Rather than CC cheating because most of the people who voted for her happen to be on her friends list, couldn't the votes be attributed to the fact that not everyone is familiar with tag-making and what goes into it?

Restating what I said before: considering she's gotten most votes within minutes when she checked the score in the thread and they just happened to come from her friends, the votes can't be attributed to that. Yesterday, she hadn't gotten a single vote for a day and just when another tag jumped ahead of her, she checked the thread and within a minute got two votes from her friends to put her into first.

I am CC's friend, but I voted for simply because I thought it looked best. I've been in the mood for red in graphics lately and it is in fact *red* xD. And just so you know she didn't ask me too if that helps. (:

I'm not exactly "advanced" with graphics and/or making tags *pokes sig* so I wasn't sure on which one would be considered graphically best, just the one I liked best not to pick favorites or anything.

Uh, I don't mind if my vote is nulled. Or given to whichever tag is the best. Tiff didn't ask me to vote for her, and I think it's really rude to say she did, but do whatever you guys think is best wrt the matter.

I'm actually all for this idea. IMO, the judges should be people who enter the competition as well as several experienced members.

I know, here comes the democracy crowd with the "everyone should have their voices heard" speech, and I seriously doubt this is ever going to be put into place. Like with other graphics forums, any member can vote by tradition.

But think of it this way (just an example): when you enter a legit competition such as with art or writing, or apply for some program or a college where only a certain number of people are chosen to participate, the judges are a select few who have the experience to make that decision. You don't have the whole USA voting.

Then again, this is just a forum, which is why this is never going to be put into place. It's just something to think about.

Most people who actively post here are her friend, because they post here as well. And note that her friends have also voted for others as well. Comparing her friend count here to the rest of you, she has a lot more. Unless it can be proven that she personally asked one of us to vote for her, I doubt she would have asked people to vote for her.

Considering she also didn't know we could check how people voted until earlier today, I think this speaks for itself.

Why does it matter whether or whether not I didn't know you guys could check how people voted? I already said in the voting thread that I voted for Celes Chere. And by advanced, I mean more experienced. I don't quite think she's as experienced as the rest of you, but like I said, it looked the most appealing to me. I don't think you can accuse someone of cheating and stating she should be disqualified when you haven't gotten any proof of her actually asking anyone to vote for her. But if she did ask others personally besides me (and there's actual proof of it besides claims), then I do agree on having to disqualify her. Otherwise, no.

She did attempt to cheat once before by voting for herself, likely not knowing that we could see how everyone voted.

She meant to originally vote for FISH, but clicked the wrong one. I think she's entitled to make mistakes.

That sounds like a good idea. The judges could be maybe 3 or so members that qualify as advanced tag/sig makers as the permanent one and then so people can take turns judging, whoever won the last sig of the week discussion could help for the next week.

Also another thing we could add is maybe the judges could critique the tags/sigs on the entries upon request so people can improve. (:

Exactly. It's too much work, plus this isn't like serious business or anything, so it won't ever be put into place. I was just theorizing cause I don't have much of anything else to do atm.

Some of my friends may have voted unfairly too, I admit. But that still doesn't change the fact that I never asked them to.

Um, research again because I don't think I've ever really spoken to Legretta. And hell, the last time I entered I got SHIT for votes, in fact, I got one vote.

This. The general public seems to gravitate towards things that make the experts cringe all the time. Maybe people really do like one over the other regardless of talent. Besides it was just one poll. :/

I hope people can still vote, and not get judges in. That would be professional, but at the same time, boring. Besides, i would like to look and vote for the sigs, and if there were judges, then i wouldent even bother looking at them, shame.
