If I'd read this five or six years ago, I might have been excited at the prospect. Now pretty much every new Final Fantasy project Square announces seems to fill me with the dread of having to watch a once genuinely Fantastic series of games move further and further away from quality it used to be about. Nowadays they just seem to throw a game together and slap Final Fantasy on the cover. The idea of them possibly doing the same to the game that introduced me to the whole series and just sent seven year old me's imagination skyrocketing just makes me want to throw my hands up and sigh.
It's sentimental and cynical of me, but until Square starts making consistent quality titles with the narrative power that they built themselves on as a company, I don't want them to touch FF7 at all.
