Is it weird the more bad things I hear, the more excited I get? I was suspecting that the game might actually be terrible and you were all keeping mum about it to not cause a site wide panic. The lack of vague positivity was starting to get suspicious. Guess I was right. Expectations sufficiently tempered. I still wanna play though.

I am enjoying the hell out of things and I haven't even played yet!

(yes I read spoilers)

IMHO the team has been upfront and candid about this not being the same game and the OG is there if you need it, it always will be, it's something you can go back to if you want so to me there's no point to getting upset or angry or anything just cause things might not have turned out exactly the way I might have wanted it (well tbh I didn't really have a rigid piece by piece wish list in place since I was keeping an open mind with room for different things happening anyway) , I mean I might still get stroppy/upset over somethings, it's a possibility, but ultimately it'll probably be me blowing hot air, I love so much of what I've seen already :excited:Also the final chapters are probably where the bulk of Red XIII is? so that's probably going to make things a win for me anyway, I am excite where is 10th April!

I can assure you, everyone who has played the game has enjoyed at least a part of it. Most of them enjoyed atleast 2/3 of the game tbh. Of course, these are just some skewed statistics I came up in a minute, but it's something I'm seeing a lot. Doesnt mean the game will get majorly positive reviews. Quite the contrary,
its the final third that gets to people, and boy does it get. Gets so much, to some people, it throws away that enjoyment of the first two thirds
That's too bad to hear that it would ruin the game for people like that. My expectations for the game were always very low. That way I wouldn't get my hopes up about certain stuff being included. As long as the changes/additions fit well with the remakes story, I'm sure I'll like it as well

What could they possibly do within the template of the original story that could make people upset? I seriously don’t get what it could possibly be, particularly when there aren’t any major plot twists in the Midgar act to begin with.

Do people who hate the ending hate it because it’s not faithful? Did they put Sephiroth in Kalm or something...? Is it something having to do with Sector 7? (Those are rhetorical) I’m pretty pumped, and I feel like whatever it is won’t bother me. I just hope with all my being that they didn’t mess up something as big as the FF7 Remake, and I mean, the original team came back, so I trust ‘em.

Actually, I’m wondering: is Kalm even in this part of the Remake? (This one’s not rhetorical)

It was a mix of folks misunderstanding, and misinterpreting a mindscrew ending and the ending being a wild ride.

Spoilers ahead!

Tbh the ending feels "too much happening, way too fast" with uninspiring and long KH bosses.

The imagery was over the place.

Its like they saved all their madness and crammed into the final segment, which was already frenetic with fighting Jenova, big robots and the bike chase.

It felt like artifical padding just to wow the player, "look at this giant dark enemy, visions of OG ending, Sephiroth, now we are in space, isnt it cool?!"I

No.
Thanks!

Ah, thanks for simultaneously being super vague but still informing me on how this divisiveness could happen. A spoiler-less answer that still gives me a bit of an idea, essentially.

I am wondering, though. (Again, probably rhetorically) What could they even do to the Midgar act to make it a mindfuck?? Things don’t get weird until the City of the Ancients and onward, after all.

If this is the case, I think I can accept a too frantic boss rush and some crazy / surrealist imagery. Keep in mind I’m saying this with the following being true:

You have no idea man......

I really don’t.

You right, you right. I'm sure in a weeks time I'll be rolling with the best of them in that chapter 18 thread. In the meantime, watching everyone who knows already argue and vent about it while having to stay vague is turning into my favorite ff7 remake pre release side show. Please fellas, by all means, continue.

@Pizzachu I've already reread the novels like 3 times man.

Never seen that before. What is it?

Don't worry @Pizzachu, I'm strong enough to hold back. There is some temptation, but I'll manage. It's just like most of the forum has developed into
Sephiroth
has
a big
sword

Or people getting antsy about the release. A lot of us are at the "antici" without the "pation," you know?

Yeah, I understand. It's difficult to participate in discussion when most of it is surrounding spoilers and everyone is being tight-lipped about it. Being potentially stuck at home amplifies this by like 100%.

You can do this! I'll be getting my copy on release day, so I'm stuck in the non-playing boat too. We can all experience the reunion on the 10th! :D
