We've just been hurt too many times :(

I dont really agree with FFVII itself being "post crisis" as having a huge meteor threaten all life on the planet is a bigger crisis than an ego maniac general going off his nut isnt it? Crisis Core seems like a bit of a misnomer to me.

Well Post-Crisis can technically mean Post-Crisis Crisis, the "after Crisis".

No I know that, and the events of Crisis Core were a crisis. What I'm saying is implying those events were the core of the crisis is kind of weird, given that the summoning of meteor is the bigger crisis.

My brain hurts :faint:

According to the Google cache, the renewed PC version will contain 36 Achievements,Cloud Saving (kinda ironic) and ´´Character booster´´ which allows you to boost up your MP,HP and Gil to the max if you got stuck in the game.I think we should play a game what kind of achievements we might get from SE. Like ´´Mrs.Cloud´´ for dressing Cloud perfectly to fit in Don Corneo´s pattern :monster:

The site also mentions a price of £7.99 / €9.99 (or about $12.50).

Hmm, by the looks of that its not going to be anything too radical is it? I mean, if they're doing a graphical overhaul or something you'd expect them to charge more.

I want to take a fucking hammer to the face of Square-Enix.

I can't believe this. On..the PC no less.

You lazy motherfuckers.

EDIT: And to amend my post, it's not just the fact that S-E is once again taking the easy way out and just cashing in on old shit by re-releasing it as a port, but it's just the fucking dumbing down of it all too.

Find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down? With the Character Booster you can increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum, all with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure.

Seriously? Is THAT where we are as FF gamers now? We need the ability to just flip a switch and just turn the game stats up to maximum? What the fuck is the point in that?

It's like S-E has done literally everything it possibly could to just show they do not give a shit about what the fanbase wants. The fact its PC only is just the icing on the coprophagia cake that is this game. They seriously just are determined to proceed with this campaign of fucking over every single person possible just to make some quick cash. Fanbase wants or desires, be damned.

Who the fuck gives a shit about achievements? Just. Wow. They completely have no fucking clue what people really loved about FFVII and what they want. They're so tone deaf they might as well just cut off their ears.

Next up. FFVII: Chocobo Farmville for Facebook! Latest entry in the Compilation of FFVII.

Achievements: no thanks.
Character Booster: no thanks.
A cheap, easy to get, easy to run copy of Final Fantasy VII for the PC: sure, why not?

no.

Seriously, this is literally impossible unless you run from every single fight ever.

FFVII was never a particularly hard game.

Hey, I got stuck on my first playthrough at Materia Keeper. Two of my three characters were dead and I had no Phoenix Downs, while I had not climbed down the ladder in Mt. Nibel to allow myself to go back to Nibelheim to buy any. I couldn't get past him for ages. I think I ended up having to reload an old save to progress with the game. I beat him with only one character and no trouble at all in my most recent playthough, but that's with fifteen years of experience :)

I completely agree that it is an easy game, but that's not always the case for new players. That's not to say I welcome anything that makes it easier for them, though. They should learn the hard way!

Why not?

Because they don't need or deserve the money, that's why.

Why not just get the PSN release for 5 bucks? Or use your original copy? Or download the ORIGINAL PC version that has mods and hacks that are infinitely more interesting and just plain better than this garbage?

Why reward S-E's laziness and attempts to cheaply cash in on shit like this?

I am a bit confused by this. First of all, I can't view the cached website because it keeps asking for a username and password.

Second, do we know if Yoichi Wada *alone* is behind taking this domain and writing up these supposed new features?
I dunno, I just get the feeling that these features are "random sketches" made before the project has even entered what can be considered pre-production. I can't take this seriously just yet.

Well yeah :monster:

If I'm honest I got stuck quite a bit when I first played, cos I used to run away a lot :lol

I was always getting killed by Motor Ball, and Bottomswell, and Jenova, and Materia Keeper....and...well you get the idea.

But now? Like most people getting this will have probably already played VII, or at least have some RPG experience. Plus they're likely to be older and more willing to put the effort into leveling that I didn't do as a 14 year old. I just can't see them getting stuck.

The one and only time I tried to install the PC version - which can't be legally downloaded, as far as I'm aware - it caused Windows XP to kick the bucket. I have the original Playstation version but it's in a pretty dire condition, with a huge chip in disc three that stops the ending FMV from playing.

I'm surprised at how... bitter you seem to be. Have you felt the same when the ports of the first six FF games were announced for various consoled over the years? Because some of those ports were my first experience of the games, which I would never have played otherwise, and I'm grateful for it. Some people will play FFVII for the first time as a result of this and they will enjoy it. Of course, Square Enix have a hundred different things they should be doing with their time instead of this, but I just don't see how it hurts anybody.

I'm bitter because S-E has literally gone to shit within the last 3 years. Maybe more. All thanks to their laziness and ineptitude. They have literally forsaken any creative spark, initiative or desire to even appease their fanbase, just for the sake of making cheap easy money. They don't give a shit about anything. Like at all. Between the vapor-ware that is FFXIII Versus, the failure that is FFXIV and the TBA release date of Type-0, what are they doing? What the fuck happened to the Compilation? Hell, the Ivalice Alliance? Or half the other fucking spinoff compilations they started and have just left half-done? What are they doing for the actual CURRENT gen console, the PS3? They made...FFXIII and FFXIII-2. In the entire history of the PS3, they've released...TWO FUCKING GAMES. Do you see how pathetic that looks?

Unless its overpriced merchandise, or a re-release of a re-release, of a re-release, S-E can't be bothered with doing shit. They've fallen so fucking low, these days.

Flint, you know, you could also get the original FFVII off of Sony's PSN store for 5 bucks if you really wanted it. There's no reason at all to get this stupid ass PC rip off.

I sincerely doubt this port will be the first entry to FFVII for very many, seeing as how last year, the PSN version of FFVII was released and had the highest download number of any game for like a month. And still is one of the most widely downloaded PSN games ever.

This entire PC release is just superfluous and a cash-in attempt to make more money, because S-E is probably pissed they have to divide the profits they make with the PSN release of FFVII, with Sony. That's all.

I agree with the sentiment that SE has gone to shit. In fact I agree with a lot of the points you make. The problem, however, is not so much what SE are doing, but what they aren't doing. That's why I have no gripe with this new release specifically, only with the company as a whole. And even then, they're not owned by their fans, and they can do what they want. It's their own bank balance that will suffer if they make the wrong decisions (which they have, and it has). I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Also, being pedantic, it would cost me a lot more than 5 bucks to get it on the PSN. I'd need a PS3 first, and they're quite expensive :monster:

Plus there's the problem that if you live in Europe, your default version of the game to buy is PAL. That one is waaaay too slow for my taste. I tried creating an american account so I could buy the NTSC version, but I hit a brick wall despite following all the instructions in detail.

You can access the PSN if you have a PSP of any kind.

And what they aren't doing is actually spending any actual time or energy trying to make any worthwhile games, or continuing the shit they actually started. And resolving it. They go from one spin-off to another, sucking it dry until it gets run into the ground, and then start a new one, ad infinitum.

No they are not owned by their fans. And they've made that very clear in the fact they have no interest or desire whatsoever to even make games that are remotely relevant to anything but casual, half-awake fans of their franchises.

And then they can let their Eidos half of the company put in all the work and release shit that they know they don't have the talent or ability to make on their own and ride it to the bank.

It's just fucking sad.
